My name is Christy. I am a teacher and have worked with kids and parents for 30 years.
It has never been easy for me to mother. We’ve had quite a few unexpected hurdles. Through that experience, I’ve learned self-compassion, mindfulness, and human-centered mothering that sees me as a person with needs and priorities.
In November 2018, we moved again to a new town where I didn’t know anyone. On a whim, I recorded a podcast and uploaded it before we headed off to the children's science museum. This book is a celebration of that boldness. When it started, it was called Everyday Motherhood. During the great shutdown of 2020, I changed the title to Keep Calm Mother On. Each episode has always ended with a self-care and family connection play idea. I want it to be practical and helpful for you, the voice I wish I had found when my husband was on his first deployment, and I had two toddlers at home.
