What Are You Using Your Wisdom For?
Manage episode 436378673 series 3438363
In 2 Samuel 17:1-4, we see a striking example of wisdom being used with malicious intent. Ahithophel, a trusted advisor to King David, devises a cunning plan to destroy David by taking advantage of his vulnerable state. Ahithophel suggests that he pursue David immediately, catch him while he is weary, and strike him down. This advice was given with the intent of ensuring Absalom’s rise to power, yet it was rooted in betrayal and personal gain.
Ahithophel’s advice was highly regarded—Scripture describes his counsel as if one were inquiring of the word of God (2 Samuel 16:23). His wisdom was undeniable, but his intentions were far from pure. This passage challenges us to reflect on how we use our own wisdom.
As you reflect on 2 Samuel 17:1-4, consider how you can use your wisdom for good. Seek God’s guidance in your decisions, ensuring that your wisdom aligns with His will. In doing so, you can be a force for good in the lives of those around you, leading others in a way that honors God and brings glory to His name.
