With that in mind, welcome to episode seventeen of the Investing Matter series, which is with the hugely talented and experienced former financial and business journalist, Nick Britton, the Head of Intermediary Communications, at the Association of Investment Companies (AIC). After reading English at Cambridge University, Nick began his career in journalism in Shanghai, China, before spending time as freelance editor in Australia. As a journalist, Nick held roles including Editor of What Investment Magazine and Head of Research at Vitesse Media plc (now BonHill plc), where he produced reports such as Directors’ Pay on AIM, the Cash Shells Directory, Institutional Investors in AIM and the VCT Report. He also edited the GrowthBusiness.co.uk website which is aimed at growth companies. Their investors and advisers.

In 2015 Nick joined the Association of Investment Companies, where he continues to work mainly with financial advisers and wealth managers, supporting their use of investment companies and venture capital trusts. This includes delivering the AIC’s training programme for financial advisers as well as working with the media and professional bodies, such as the Chartered Insurance Institute and the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investments, to further wider knowledge and understanding of the investment structure.

In this Investing Matters podcast, I discuss with Nick, his current role as a Head of Intermediary Communications, the exponential growth of investment companies, funds, investment trusts, VCTs, private investors, his successful long-term ISA & SIPP investing strategy across investment companies, Junior ISAs, rebalancing, emotions/psychology of investing, his work with private investors, his greatest learning mistakes, discounts and premium to net asset value, his investing style and much more.
