In this episode, Alice talks to Alice Billington.
Alice is a social historian of medicine. In her own words, she is still figuring out her post PhD career. She is, though, working on her first book, and is the mother of the wonderful Isaac, who she had during her academic studies when she was 19.
Topics discussed include:
- Wanting to be an exceptional single parent
- The difficulties around how single parents, especially young mothers, are perceived
- The complexities of motherhood
- The experiences of people who have menstrual cycles
- The importance of accepting and celebrating that your perspective is always your own – it can’t be objective
- Your subjectivity might just be the most valuable thing you have to offer
