Guerrillapreneur: The Art of Waging Small Business Podcast

In Episode 24, I interviewed Baker Al-Nakib, the Cofounder of Open Spot Parking, Inc., headquartered in British Columbia, Canada (www.openspot.ca). Their app (and website) allows drivers to find, reserve, and pay for parking seamlessly-whenever and wherever they need it, either in advance or on-the-go. After proving that their "sharing economy" business model worked, Baker and his cofounder focused on the integration of sensor parking spot monitoring technology as the first major strategic "pivot" for the company's history. The sensors open the door to the capture of additional data that cities can use to determine where new parking lots (and buildings) should be constructed. If you integrate user data, then Open Spot Parking could eventually help plan the driverless car future.
