Today we are talking about monetizing your podcast during the holiday season. I promised to share my notes on the three tactics that drive listener engagement and encourage fast action. So, here we go!

Tactic 1: Disappearing Episodes with a Flash Sale Inside

The idea is to create urgency by setting episodes to expire from your RSS feed after a specific time, encouraging listeners to act fast. Here are the steps to follow:

  • Publish as a “Bonus Episode” with an expiration date (e.g., 24 hours) such that the episode and offer disappear after the set time.
  • Set the episode to reach either only paid or non-paid subscribers, depending on your target audience.
  • Include a clear link at the top of the show notes directing listeners to the offer page.

For example, for Black Friday, offer a 10-hour, 50% discount on your Shopify store or suite of courses. Share the discount code within the episode, encouraging fast action before the episode disappears.

Also, clearly state the URL for easy access, and duplicate the page to track traffic from the podcast episode accurately.

Tactic 2: Price Increase Campaign

Use your podcast to announce upcoming price increases, motivating listeners to purchase before the price goes up. You may create the following:

  • CTAs: Dedicate call-to-actions (CTAs) at the beginning and middle of episodes, encouraging early engagement.
  • Program Updates: Discuss new features and upgrades in specific episodes, explaining the added value of the price increase.
  • Client Spotlights: Release mini-episodes or client interviews showcasing successful transformations and results.
  • Sales Team Collaboration: Have your sales reps share these episodes with prospects or previous leads to prompt action.
  • Exclusive Bonus: Offer an exclusive benefit for podcast listeners, such as a one-on-one onboarding call or special training, rewarding loyal listeners with added value.

Tactic 3: Listicle Episodes with Affiliate Links

Your goal is to generate revenue by sharing valuable product recommendations through affiliate links. Listicles are easy to consume and provide value, which encourages listeners to check out recommended products.

Here are some examples of effective listicles:

  • Top 7 Software AI To Add to Your Christmas List
  • 5 Amazon Purchases That Instantly Enhance Your Podcast Studio
  • 3 Supplements I’m Buying for My Aging Parents to Keep Them Healthy

Here is a bonus tip. Select products that resonate with your audience and include affiliate links in the show notes. Also, affiliate partnerships should be disclosed to maintain transparency with listeners.
