1 Environmental Health Division Intensifies Fight Against Vector-Borne Diseases With Aggressive Cleanup In Ciceron 3:47
The Environmental Health Division, in partnership with the Ciceron Development Committee, spearheaded a large-scale community cleanup on February 8 and 9, 2025, targeting mosquito and rat breeding grounds. This proactive initiative mobilized residents, volunteers, and key agencies to tackle poor waste disposal, a major contributor to vector-borne diseases. By clearing high-risk areas of stagnant water and waste buildup, the campaign reinforced the community’s commitment to environmental health and disease prevention. Building on the momentum of the Mosquito Awareness Campaign 2024, the clean-up drive focused on high-risk areas, particularly locations prone to stagnant water accumulation and waste buildup. The Interim Chair of the Ciceron Development Committee underscored the importance of sustaining the progress made through the cleanup initiative.…

With a symbolic sod-turning ceremony at the Gros-Islet Polyclinic, the Ministry of Health, Wellness & Elderly Affairs has officially launched critical infrastructure upgrades as part of its commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Saint Lucia. This initiative marks a major step in transforming the facility into a 24-hour operation, ensuring that residents have continuous access to essential healthcare services. The planned improvements include the expansion and modernization of the Accident & Emergency Unit, allowing for faster and more efficient patient care. In response to the increasing mortality associated with Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and their risk factors, the National NCD Committee has convened a high-level stakeholder consultation aimed at fostering collaboration and strengthening national strategies for prevention and control. The consultation is taking place at the 5th Floor Conference Room, Finance Administrative Centre, Pointe Seraphine. 1 Ecumenical Service Commemorating Saint Lucia’s 46th Independence Anniversary Focus’s on Unity 1:34
Preparations are well underway for the hosting of the National Ecumenical Service, a staple on the calendar of activities commemorating Saint Lucia’s Anniversary Independence celebrations. The Service, which will mark the island’s 46th Independence, will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Vieux-Fort on February 14, 2025, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Ministry of Equity, Social Justice, and Empowerment, which oversees Ecclesiastical Affairs, encourages the religious community to align their worship with the theme and have congregants dress in the national colors. In attendance will be the Governor-General, H.E. Errol Charles, Prime Minister- Hon. Philip J. Pierre, and Leader of the Opposition – Hon. Allen Chastanet, along with other members of Parliament, Members of the Diplomatic Corps, and other guests. Likewise, all Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) affiliated with the Ministry of Equity and staff of the Public Service are invited to attend the service. Minister for Equity Hon. Joachim Henry commenting on the significance of the event noted, “ This service is more than a tradition, it is a powerful reminder of the values that bind us as a people. As we reflect on our 46 years of independence, let us use this opportunity to not only celebrate our achievements but to recommit ourselves to building a brighter future for all.
