There is a paradox when it comes to guiding people to be their best.
Addressing underperformance can trigger a lot of deep emotions and feelings about how we were treated in the past. A wise manager is able to remain mindful of their feelings and sees the benefits of a balanced approach because they care about their people and don’t want to let them fail.
