Set in 1838 Germany, Nosferatu follows Ellen Hutter (Lily-Rose Depp), a young woman haunted by visions of Count Orlok (Bill Skarsgård), an ancient Transylvanian vampire. Her husband, Thomas Hutter (Nicholas Hoult), is sent to Transylvania for a real estate deal with Orlok, unknowingly inviting the vampire to their hometown of Wisborg. As Orlok becomes infatuated with Ellen, he brings a plague upon the town, leading to a harrowing confrontation between Ellen and the sinister count.

This film is a remake of F.W. Murnau's 1922 silent classic Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror, which was an unauthorized adaptation of Bram Stoker's Dracula. Director Robert Eggers, known for The Witch (2015) and The Lighthouse (2019), brings his signature atmospheric style to this retelling. Bill Skarsgård's portrayal of Count Orlok is noted for being both grotesque and eerily seductive, aiming to evoke a mix of attraction and repulsion in the audience.
