Episode 12: Discussing Children wtih Mike Mills' "C'mon C'mon", Mani Kaul's Experimental "Duvidha" and Asian Dads in "Shang-Chi"
Manage episode 323119246 series 3288693
A really special guest today as we are joined by Cheryl, also known as cehryl, a Hong Kong singer/songwriter as Walter needs some Asian backup for his terrible Chinese takes. Cheryl lets us bully her for a bit before we really get started. (00:06:13) Swade wants to share Ronoake's Saint Paddy's Day because there's just too much drunk people. (00:18:22) Cheryl feels Mike Mills "C'mon C'mon" is a little overrated but because this podcast doesn't ever hate movies Walter decides to defend it for a bit. (00:36:09) Swade and Walter argued last episode about Walter's tendency to only bring pretentious films so they have decided to switch roles this week. Swade brings Main Kaul's "Duvidha" and is frustrated the film has no swords or wizards. (00:53:41) Walter, on the other hand, brought Marvel's "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings" and shares how Tony Leung captures a perfect depiction of an Asian dad as a villain that tries his hardest to do his best for the family but ultimately his actions turn toxic. (01:11:12) Don't miss out the shout out we give to our first review and us naming our 50 5 star rating goal.
