When a young Eva Kollisch arrives as a refugee in New York in 1940, she finds a community among socialists who share her values and idealism. She soon discovers ‘the cause’ isn’t as idyllic as it seems. Little does she know this is the beginning of a lifelong commitment to activism and her determination to create radical change in ways that include belonging, love and one's full self. In addition to Eva Kollisch’s memoirs Girl in Movement (2000) and The Ground Under My Feet (2014), LBI’s collections include an oral history interview with Eva conducted in 2014 and the papers of Eva’s mother, poet Margarete Kolllisch, which document Eva’s childhood experience on the Kindertransport. John 14:29 NKJV In the Greek, when we look in the New Testament, that original word that we translate as "believe" actually means more than just to think of something as true. It also means to "entrust," so Jesus' desire is for you to trust Him, put your life in His hands, for you to entrust your entire being into His hands, and so He will release prophetic words so that they will come to pass, and it will grow our faith. We Are The New Leaders At Pinecroft Baptist Church! It's been quite a while since I last relayed an update of our ministry activities. And that is not because there's been a lack of activity. Up until very recently, I have been sitting with the Lord and patiently waiting for His instruction and direction. What became clear to me for this period of weeks and months, is the Lord wanted me to focus on building my business and continue serving my family, including my wife and our increasingly active kiddos. As I was waiting on the Lord and seeking His face for the future of FaithFire, a small Baptist church was looking for a preacher. A sweet lady named Connie was searching for a pulpit fill-in for an upcoming Sunday and it seemed she was running out of options. Connie paid a visit to our local Teen Challenge in Greensboro and after talking to a few people, she was given my number. I was the third person she would call. Eventually, I took the opportunity to preach to heart and accepted the invitation to preach the Word on a soon-to-come Sunday morning. After a few weeks, I had preached a few Sundays here and there, and the members started to ask, "Would you consider being our pastor?" I promised them I would pray about it. In actuality, I didn't think I had enough time to commit to serving a fellowship in a pastoral role. But I asked my wife to pray about it (I didn't want to hear God say 'YES'). After several weeks and several conversations, I started to pray because my wife felt the Lord was guiding us in this direction. Finally, following a couple months of prayer and seeking counsel and talking it through with my wife, I accepted the role of Senior Pastor at Pinecroft Baptist Church. FaithFire Is Alive And Well FaithFire isn't going anywhere. I can tell you that our ministry outside the church walls will continue with community and international outreach and revival services. We are planning a worship night for New Year's Eve at Pinecroft, in fact, and hope you can join us. There have been some opportunities for international ministry in Mexico and Lima, Peru lately. These were outdoor crusades that were in the works, but after talking with our partner ministry, we decided the time wasn't right. As march closer to a new year, I'm convinced FaithFire will be active in the coming year with the ministry that we have been committed to over the last four years. We will be reaching the lost with the love and power of Jesus Christ through revival nights, community outreach, and international crusades and revivals. We now just have a church home that we are leading as well. God is taking you to school, and His desire is to see you in class every night as often as possible, sitting with Him. Allow the Lord to draw you into His presence to learn of Him You will need to make space for the Lord in unusual times and unusual ways in the night season. Some of you will need to go to bed early and prepare for the Lord to speak to you in the middle of the night. One piece of advice from the counsel of the Lord is to simply draw near to God at night, when things are quiet and you’re settled after a long day of work. Seek the Lord. Seek the face of the Lord. In this dream of the Lord, I was sitting in a church meeting and ministers were arguing. They were doing this as many others were watching and witnessing. This argument lasted for a very long time and it was not going anywhere. These two ministers were deadlocked, and they were not budging. The Lord prompted me to warn you Mr. Combs. He says you should be very careful not to underestimate the consequences of your actions. As I was praying, the Lord showed me an axe cutting down a tree. The Spirit of God is cutting you down to size. Submit to God and let Him lift you up God is not mocked. The Lord says, “This is my doing. I am exposing you and it is for your good. The Lord understands the trauma and plight of people of color all over the world. This dream illuminates the Father's heart for those who feel abandoned, isolated, forgotten, used, and abused. However, the Lord's desire is for His Fatherly love to heal these wounds. Please pray with me for the healing of all people who have felt lost and forgotten due to their skin color. The Lord is inviting us to listen! The question was asked in our prophetic fellowship, what does a 4.8 earthquake in NY and a solar eclipse on 4.8 mean? I began to ponder and pray and the Lord is speaking in volumes. He is again looking to get our attention. He is asking us to listen and allow Him to be the source of our wisdom. The Church has the capability to get in the way of people receiving the full and unmitigated light of Christ. Our behavior can impede the love of God from being expressed through us. With an eclipse, the moon obscures the light from the sun from view. But what happens is the light of the sun actually increases and becomes piercingly bright, even too bright to be viewed by the human eye. The Lord is going to be making Himself more and more visible, despite the Church and our current issues that have created a potential impediment for the gospel. The Church can act independently of the Holy Spirit and when that happens, God still gets glory! He only magnifies Himself, so we can see Him! The war on Israel is a precursor to great change in the world. The change we are witnessing is a reordering of the world in preparation for the coming Kingdom of God. *What Is Happening In The Unseen Realm The enemy is raging. "Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing?" Psalms 2:1 The kingdoms of the world will become the kingdoms of our God and His Christ. But, the enemy is trying to disrupt the process.
