In this episode, I am having a vulnerable discussion about mental health and bipolar disorder with Michelle Dickinson who survived a mother who had it. Michelle candidly explains the toll it had on her and how it prompted her to become who she is today. Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression is a mental illness that brings on severe hits and low moods and changes in sleep, energy, thinking and behavior. It's a very difficult for children who have parents with this disorder especially when they have other issues such as narcissistic personality disorders that tend to overlap with bipolar. So how can you get the help you need when you truly feel you have a problem? It's the children who end up with the trauma.

Michelle E. Dickinson, is a very passionate mental health advocate, a TED speaker, and a published author of a memoir entitled Breaking Into My Life. She goes first and sees herself as the bridge that helps people get comfortable with their mental health so that they reach out and get the support they need before they hit a crisis. She makes it ok to not be ok and thrives on making a real difference in the lives of others – especially around their wellbeing. Michelle is out to do her part to eliminate the stigma by normalizing the mental health conversation within the workplace and beyond.
