Most companies are doing their mid-year reviews and giving their employees feedback in the process. It is so important when you’re giving your employees feedback that you’re giving them honest and actionable feedback that guarantees results. This week’s episode of the Entrepreneur to Employer podcast is about how to give honest, actionable feedback that moves the needle.

In this episode, Brian talks shares 3 reasons why most feedback fails to work and what we need to do to make it work.

The feedback formula Brian covers in this episode includes:

  1. The Question: By asking, “How did this go compared to your expectations?” we let the other person share their point of view first, thus, reducing the chance of putting them on the defensive and see if you have shared and aligned expectations and if they are seeing the situation through a realistic lens.
  2. The Observation: Using the ‘when you ___, I experienced ___, and that resulted in ___’ methodology to act as a mirror for the other person to see their actions
  3. The Response: It’s critical to make sure that the feedback you’ve given was received and understood. You can do so by asking the following questions: “What are the key aspects of the feedback that you are taking away from this conversation?” and “What are the next steps you are considering based on this feedback?”
