Today we will travel back 73 years to what is one of the most popular old time radio shows. Dragnet was featured back on episode 7, and will be featured again today with another episode from the show's first few months. For those that do not already know, Dragnet was a series endorsed by the LAPD and used real case files to write the episodes. As the show says in its signature catch phrase, only the names have been changed to protect the innocent.
Creator Jack Webb went on several night patrols, attended police academy courses, all to help bring as much realism to the show as possible. In this episode we will join Joe Friday and his partner Ben as they investigate a series of blitz robberies taking place around the city. While doing their job researching the case, they also take on the duty of convincing an old friend's wife that he should be able to join the force.
