×Pastor Nick emphasizes the importance of prayer, beginning with the Lord's Prayer from Luke, to teach us how to communicate with God as our loving Father. He highlights that prayer should be a continuous and heartfelt dialogue, reflecting our needs, requests for forgiveness, and the necessity of forgiving others. Nick also draws attention to the call for fathers to leave a godly legacy for their children, encouraging acknowledgment of past mistakes while moving forward with a commitment to faith and love. Ultimately, he reminds the congregation that through Christ, we can approach God without fear, fostering a deeper relationship with our Heavenly Father.…
In this sermon, Pastor Nick delves into the pivotal moment of Pentecost as described in the Book of Acts. He highlights that the author Luke wrote this narrative not just for a specific individual, Theophilus, but for all who love God, illustrating that the story of Jesus and the early church continues today. Pastor Nick emphasizes the significance of the Holy Spirit's arrival, which not only empowered the disciples, but also united them in proclaiming the gospel across diverse languages and cultures. He poignantly reflects on the moment when 3,000 people were added to the church, challenging listeners to recognize their place in this ongoing divine narrative. Pastor Nick draws parallels between the early church's vibrant community and today's church, urging members to embrace their Holy Spirit-filled purpose. He urges believers to listen attentively to the Holy Spirit's guidance and to engage actively in spreading the message of Jesus, demonstrating love and acceptance to all. He critiques the prevailing attitudes in society, particularly in political spheres, and calls for a revival where God's people rise up to embody His mission of love, acceptance, and outreach. Ultimately, he reinforces the theme that the church is God's chosen instrument for change, urging everyone to participate in the transformative work of the Spirit in their lives and communities.…
In today's sermon, Pastor emphasizes the significance of the ascension of Jesus Christ, which marks His physical and spiritual departure from Earth into the presence of God the Father. He references Hebrews 1:1-4 to illustrate that God has communicated with humanity in various ways throughout history, culminating in the ultimate revelation through His Son, Jesus. This transition from prophetic messages to Christ embodies the fulfillment of God's promise and highlights the profound nature of Jesus as the 'Logos,' the full expression of God. The pastor conveys that the ascension is not merely an endpoint but a pivotal event that opens the way for the coming of the Holy Spirit and the church’s mission on Earth. The sermon also explores the implications of Jesus' earthly experiences and the sacrificial purpose of His coming. Pastor articulates that while the cosmic scale may make humanity feel insignificant, God considers it worth sacrificing His Son for our redemption from sin—a transgression against His law of love. Following the ascension, Jesus continues to work actively, interceding on behalf of believers and preparing a place for them in heaven. By comparing this betrothal to the customs of His time, Pastor illustrates that the church, as the bride of Christ, is called to live in anticipation of His return and be prepared through the gifts of the Holy Spirit. The ultimate promise is a transformed creation where the faithful will dwell with Him eternally. Pastor concludes by affirming the joyous reality of the ascension and Jesus’s ongoing role in the lives of believers.…
In today's sermon, Pastor Nick focused on the themes of leadership, commitment, and the consequences of disobedience as he explored the story of Nehemiah. He recapped how the Israelites faced exile due to their repeated disobedience to God's laws, leading to the destruction of Jerusalem and the rebuilding of the temple. After 70 years, Nehemiah, upon hearing about the poor state of his ancestral city, prayed fervently and received permission from the Persian king to return and lead the effort to restore not just the physical city but the spiritual commitment of its people. Throughout his time as governor, Nehemiah and Ezra helped instigate a significant spiritual revival among the people, who promised to adhere to God's laws, illustrating the importance of community and mutual accountability in faith. However, the message took a serious turn when Pastor Nick highlighted how quickly the Israelites fell back into disobedience during Nehemiah's absence. He pointed out that poor leadership and neglect of spiritual duties led to corruption among the priests and a decline in worship practices, including breaking the Sabbath and intermarrying with non-believers. Pastor Nick noted Nehemiah's return and his zealous actions to restore order in the temple and the practices of worship. The sermon culminated in a reminder that true worship and commitment to God must be reflected in every aspect of life, encouraging the congregation to take personal responsibility for their faith. He invited everyone to engage in prayer and fasting, emphasizing the need to seek God's guidance and foster spiritual revival within their community.…
In his sermon on Nehemiah chapter 12, Pastor Nick emphasizes the significance of worship and the concept of consecration in the life of believers. He explains that during the dedication of the wall of Jerusalem, the Levites and priests were called to purify themselves, the people, and the gates. This act of consecration reveals the importance of being set apart for God's purpose and reflects a deeper spiritual battle: not just a struggle against physical walls but against the spiritual forces that threaten the community's worship and devotion to God. Pastor Nick highlights that while it’s easy to engage in battles that are visible and immediate, true spiritual warfare requires discernment to understand where the true battles lie—focusing not on cultural disagreements but on sharing the love and truth of the Gospel. Moreover, Pastor Nick draws attention to the roles within worship, highlighting the importance of the gatekeepers who ensure that the sacred space remains pure and inviting. He challenges listeners to consider their roles as gatekeepers in today's context, encouraging prayer and spiritual vigilance to create an environment infused with God's presence. "Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere," he reminds, stressing that the essence of worship goes beyond music and rituals to a heartfelt connection with God. Ultimately, the message calls people to take part in this sacred fight, ensuring that their lives and the collective church community serve as a beacon for others seeking God.…
In this sermon, Pastor Nick discusses the call for mighty men and women of valor to rise up, particularly in the context of cities. He begins by referencing Nehemiah and the importance of having people live within Jerusalem to foster growth and governance. Through the examination of biblical figures like David and Gideon, Pastor Nick highlights the characteristics of valor and the need for individuals to stand against moral decline in society. He emphasizes that true valor does not stem from arrogance, but rather from humility and a willingness to serve God’s purpose.Pastor Nick critiques modern cities for their embodiment of various societal issues, including crime and immorality, suggesting that they set cultural trends that negatively influence the surrounding areas. He underscores the spiritual battles facing urban environments and reiterates the necessity for believers to engage actively through prayer, community involvement, and standing firm in their faith. Ultimately, he challenges the congregation to recognize their potential as mighty people of valor, reminding them that God equips them to confront evil and advocate for righteousness in their neighborhoods and beyond.…
In Pastor Nick's sermon, he draws from Nehemiah chapter 10 to illustrate the importance of recognizing and repenting for our sins. He reflects on the Israelites' return from exile, their rebuilding efforts, and their deep need for spiritual renewal through confession and commitment. Pastor emphasizes that true worship involves not only acknowledging one's failures but also making firm commitments to follow God's commandments, which the Israelites demonstrated through signing a document promising to adhere to God’s laws, including not intermarrying with those of different faiths and maintaining the Sabbath. Pastor Nick highlights that the law is meant to guide believers in living righteously and that God's concern for sin often surpasses our own. He encourages the congregation to confess their sins to one another, as there is power in communal accountability. The sermon culminates in a call for deeper prayer and a personal commitment to God's guidance, rather than merely going through the motions of religion. He challenges attendees to cultivate a genuine relationship with God, asserting that true revival happens when individuals and communities earnestly seek God through prayer and sincere dedication to His ways.…
In his sermon based on Nehemiah chapter nine, Pastor Nick emphasized the importance of acknowledging God’s faithfulness alongside a genuine recognition of sin. He highlighted how the Israelites, after a period of celebration, gathered in deep sorrow with sackcloth and ashes to confess both their sins and the sins of their ancestors. This act was not just about individual guilt but a collective acknowledgment of their shared disobedience, marking a significant moment in their spiritual revival. Pastor Nick emphasized that this kind of confession is often overlooked in modern practice, urging the congregation to move from merely checking off religious boxes to developing a profound, personal relationship with God. Pastor Nick highlighted the contrast between a lifeless religion and a vibrant, spirit-filled life. He illustrated that true worship is rooted in recognizing one's shortcomings and the need for God’s grace, moving beyond the limits of a weak religion. He encouraged the congregation to seek a deeper relationship with God, one that transforms lives and leads to spiritual freedom. Concluding with a challenge to embrace the fullness of the Holy Spirit, Pastor Nick expressed that God has far greater plans for individuals than they can imagine, and that true fulfillment is found in pursuing a sincere relationship with Him.…
In a thought-provoking Easter sermon, Pastor Nick focused on the events surrounding Jesus' crucifixion and the actions of those who sought to ensure that His teachings would not endure. He highlighted the account from Matthew 27, in which the chief priests and Pharisees, motivated by fear of losing their influence, secured Jesus' tomb to prevent His disciples from claiming He had risen from the dead. Pastor Nick emphasized the irony that these supposed religious leaders, who should have recognized Jesus’ divinity, instead chose to reject Him due to their own vested interests and power. As Pastor Nick elaborated on the implications of Jesus' death and resurrection, he encouraged the congregation to reflect on their own lives and the areas where they might be keeping Jesus "dead" through distractions and priorities that push Him aside. He called upon his audience to recognize the transformative power of Christ and to embrace the new life He offers. Highlighting the personal nature of faith, Pastor Nick urged anyone who had not made a commitment to Christ to consider making that decision, emphasizing that true life is found only through accepting Jesus. He closed with a prayer for those seeking salvation and invited them to be part of the family of God, reinforcing the message of hope and renewal that is central to the Easter celebration.…
In his sermon, Pastor Nick dives into the often overlooked details of Nehemiah Chapter 7, highlighting its significance despite the lengthy lists of names and numbers. He explains that after the rebuilding of Jerusalem's walls, Nehemiah appointed trustworthy men to positions of leadership to ensure the city's security and proper functioning. Emphasizing the importance of faithful service, Pastor Nick draws parallels between the ancient context and contemporary church life, urging the congregation to consider their roles in guarding not only the physical spaces but also the spiritual well-being of their communities. He acknowledges the challenges faced by the church today, including cultural attacks and the pressure to conform to societal norms, stressing that vigilance in prayer and active service are crucial for fostering a vibrant church environment. Pastor Nick also reflects on the broader implications of names recorded in scripture, suggesting that these names represent those who made sacrifices for a lasting purpose and urged the congregation to strive for similar legacies. He stresses that entry into the eternal "Lamb's Book of Life" is not based on deeds, but rather on faith in Jesus Christ. He challenges each person to evaluate their relationship with Christ, emphasizing the importance of being born again and ensuring that their name is written in that vital heavenly record. Concluding, he calls for a commitment to living authentically as believers, both for their own spiritual vitality and for the impact on their communities.…
In his sermon, Pastor Nick explores Nehemiah 6, highlighting the persistent efforts of Sanballat, Tobiah, and Gesham to undermine Nehemiah’s mission of rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem. Despite mockery and direct threats, Nehemiah remained diligent, recognizing that their opposition was ultimately against God's work rather than just a personal vendetta against him. Pastor Nick relates this struggle to the modern challenges faced by the church, emphasizing the importance of spiritual preparation and the necessity of maintaining integrity and purpose in the midst of adversarial forces. He draws parallels between Nehemiah’s commitment to the welfare of the Israelites and the church's responsibility to advocate for the marginalized and uphold biblical truth. Pastor Nick emphasizes the need for the church to remain vigilant, rooted in truth while also extending grace. He acknowledges that opposition will arise, but encourages believers to focus on their mission without being distracted. Pastor Nick recounts personal experiences with accusations and online criticism but stresses the importance of perseverance and steadfastness in fulfilling God's call. The sermon ends on a hopeful note, reminding the congregation that, like Nehemiah, they are called to work towards the greater good and prepare for the return of Jesus, ensuring that their efforts contribute to God's kingdom despite the challenges that may come.…
In his sermon, Pastor Nick addresses the plight of the Jewish community during a famine as depicted in the Book of Nehemiah. He emphasizes the dire economic situation where many were struggling to afford basic necessities, leading to desperate measures, including the selling of their children into slavery. Pastor Nick expresses anger not at those suffering but at the wealthy who exacerbated the plight of the less fortunate by exploiting them through high-interest loans and unjust practices. He draws parallels to contemporary society, highlighting how the poor often bear the brunt of economic downturns while the rich remain largely unaffected. Pastor Nick calls for a re-examination of the societal structures that perpetuate inequality, urging the wealthy to use their blessings to support those in need. He emphasizes that God’s commandments in the Old Testament directed the Israelites to share their blessings with the less fortunate, highlighting a communal responsibility towards one another. He ultimately connects the historical narrative to a spiritual message about sin, redemption, and the need for personal transformation through Christ. The sermon challenges the congregation to confront their struggles with sin and encourages both personal and collective action towards addressing injustice, fostering a sense of community both in faith and in action.…

In this sermon, Pastor explores the biblical narrative of Nehemiah, focusing on the themes of leadership, prayer, and community engagement. Nehemiah’s journey begins with his sorrow over the ruined state of Jerusalem, leading him to spend four months praying and fasting about how to address this dire situation. When given the opportunity to speak to King Artaxerxes, Nehemiah boldly presents his request for permission and resources to rebuild the city walls, demonstrating the power of prayer and the importance of trusting in God’s provision. The sermon emphasizes that in times of need, like Nehemiah’s, it’s vital for believers to step forward and take action, facing any challenges with faith. Pastor highlights that, just like Nehemiah, modern Christians are called to identify and address the "breaches" in their communities, where resources and support are lacking. By rallying the church around prayer and collective action—such as the upcoming initiatives like “Raise the Roof” for church maintenance and “Bless Every Home” for engaging neighbors—Pastor Nick encourages the congregation to actively participate in rebuilding and strengthening their community. The message culminates in a call to action, urging church members to charge into the breaches they encounter, fulfilling their responsibilities as Christians to serve their community and contribute to building stronger families and neighborhoods.…

In today's sermon, Pastor Nick dives into the Book of Nehemiah, focusing on the emotional and spiritual response of Nehemiah upon hearing distressing news about his homeland, Jerusalem. The passage illustrates how Nehemiah learns of the hardships faced by the Jews in exile and the broken state of Jerusalem's walls. Instead of reacting impulsively, Nehemiah demonstrates a profound commitment to prayer and fasting, seeking God's guidance and intervention. Pastor Nick emphasizes the importance of bringing our concerns to God, starting with praise, followed by supplication, and acknowledging personal and communal sin. This process encourages a humble approach to seeking restoration and healing not only for individuals but also for communities and nations. As the sermon unfolds, Pastor Nick draws parallels between the historical context of Nehemiah and the modern challenges faced today. He identifies various "breaches" within society that require attention—spiritually, physically, and relationally. In the final sermon of the series on Intentional Living, Pastor Nick emphasized how Jesus lived with purpose despite the interruptions he faced. He highlighted that Jesus' ultimate goal was his sacrificial death for humanity, providing a model for believers on how to live intentionally by sharing their witness of Christ, recognizing the necessity of a personal commitment to follow him, and understanding the calling to ministry that some may experience. Drawing from Romans 10:13 -15, he asserted the importance of sharing the gospel—pointing out that many today might know of Jesus but don’t truly understand who he is, which reinforces the need for Christians to actively share their faith. Pastor Nick further illustrated his points through biblical examples, such as the story of Saul’s conversion to Paul. He encouraged listeners to consider their personal calling in sharing the gospel and serving others, emphasizing that everyone has a role in God’s mission, echoing the principle of the Great Commission. By adopting practices of prayer, listening, fellowship, service, and sharing personal testimonies, Pastor Nick encouraged the congregation to be proactive in their faith and intentionally reach out to their communities, reiterating the essential message of salvation for all who call upon the Lord. He concluded by inviting those yet to accept Christ to take that vital step and embrace a renewed life in Him, reminding all that such intentional living can lead to transformative experiences for themselves and those around them.…
In today's sermon, Pastor Nick explores the theme of intentional living, drawing on the foundational scripture from Romans 12:1-2. He emphasizes the importance of being transformed rather than conformed to the patterns of this world. By presenting our bodies as living sacrifices, we acknowledge the mercy of God and commit to spiritual growth. Pastor Nick stresses that this transformation is a deliberate process that requires us to renew our minds continually and to strive for holiness in our daily lives. He encourages the congregation to recognize that genuine spiritual growth does not occur by accident but is the result of intentional actions taken to seek Christ's likeness. Throughout the sermon, Pastor Nick sheds light on the struggles faced by both Jewish and Gentile believers in the early church and relates it to present-day issues such as anger, greed, and addiction. He underscores how external influences can shape our thoughts and behaviors and how critical it is to turn to God to renew our minds and reshape our lives according to His will. Utilizing analogies from neuroscience, he highlights that the mind can be transformed through new habits and pathways of thinking aligned with God’s Word. Ultimately, Pastor Nick calls on the congregation to embrace a life characterized by intentional choices that reflect God's glory, thus living life to the fullest in accordance with His perfect will.…
In his sermon, Pastor Nick emphasized the importance of intentional living in the Christian faith, drawing from the life of Jesus as a model for purposeful engagement with others. He highlighted that, despite Jesus's planned days, He welcomed interruptions from those in need, demonstrating a balance between personal time with God and serving others. Using Hebrews 12, Pastor Nick encouraged the congregation to remove hindrances that may impede their faith journey and to persist in running the race of life with endurance, always keeping their eyes fixed on Jesus, the source and perfecter of their faith. Pastor Nick also discussed the challenges believers face in maintaining their spiritual growth amidst distractions and doubts. He encouraged congregants to reflect on what hinders their faith and to engage with God about their struggles. He likened the process of faith development to kneading dough, emphasizing that God often requires us to be stretched and molded to grow stronger in faith. Ultimately, he reminded everyone that intentional effort is essential in the Christian life, reinforcing that faith is built through focused action, prayer, and community support, as they all seek to deepen their relationship with Christ.…

In this sermon, Pastor Nick explores the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 18, emphasizing the importance of approaching the kingdom of heaven with the humility and innocence of a child. He highlights how welcoming children parallels welcoming Christ Himself and discusses the severe consequences for leading them astray. Pastor Nick encourages the congregation to cultivate a mindset that values and prioritizes children in the church, illustrating that they hold a significant place in God's kingdom. Ultimately, he calls for a shift in perspective, urging believers to recognize the profound lessons in childlike faith and to actively nurture the next generation within the faith community.…
Pastor Nick discussed a passage from Mark 10, where Jesus rebukes his disciples for turning away children who want to come to him, emphasizing that the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. He highlighted the importance of approaching faith with the awe and simplicity of a child, suggesting that adults often lose this wonder and trust. Pastor also pointed out that the disciples, likely young themselves, had forgotten their own childhood innocence and curiosity. Welcome to today's episode of "Life at Stake," where we delve into the profound value of human life through the lens of Scripture. In this week’s message titled "Saving One," we journey into the heart of the Exodus story, exploring the incredible faith and courage of two Hebrew midwives who stood against tyranny to protect innocent lives. As we dive into Exodus 1, we discover a time of oppression where the Israelites faced unimaginable hardships under a new Pharaoh who sought to extinguish their very existence. Yet, in this dark hour, the midwives Shiphrah and Puah fearlessly defy orders to commit infanticide, choosing instead to honor God and save the precious lives of the children entrusted to them. Their decision not only changed the fate of many but also reverberated through the pages of history. In our modern world, the battle for human dignity and the sanctity of life continues, raising critical questions about how we, as followers of Christ, can respond. We are reminded that, while we may not be able to change everything, we can certainly make a difference. Just as the midwives were called to protect the vulnerable, we are compelled to stand for those who cannot stand for themselves—be it the unborn, the addicted, or those trapped in despair. Join us as we unpack this powerful message, reflect on the importance of individual action, and challenge ourselves to "save one." Let’s explore how each of us, in our own little corner of the world, can fulfill this calling and make a lasting impact. Tune in for an inspiring discussion that will encourage you to uphold the value of every human life and embrace the mission God has for you. #abortionsucks #abortionlaw #abortionban #abortiondebate #chooselife #lifechanging #jesusisking…

In the final week of our Advent series "More Than You Can Imagine", Pastor Nick digs into Isaiah 61 to discover how we can have ultimate Joy in Christ's righteousness. Interestingly, this is the same passage that Jesus preached from in his first and only sermon at his hometown synagogue. It resulted in them trying to kill Jesus! Fortunately, no one attempted Pastor Nick's death! Drawing from Isaiah's experiences during his ministry to the kingdom of Judah, Pastor highlights how Isaiah not only addressed the immediate concerns of his people but also pointed towards the coming Messiah, Jesus. The pastor emphasizes that God's promise of joy and restoration is found within the text, as is the theme of rebuilding and reclaiming what was lost. He also connects the verses from Isaiah to the teachings of Jesus, who proclaimed the fulfillment of these scriptures, thereby linking Old Testament prophecy to the New Testament reality of Christ's arrival and mission. Pastor Nick delves deeper into the implications of God's sovereignty over our joy, illustrating how the divine ability to transform mourning into joy is central to understanding our relationship with God. He discusses the importance of living a life that reflects the values of justice and mercy, urging the congregation to see themselves as custodians of spiritual inheritance. Furthermore, he challenges the audience to engage actively in sharing their blessings, not just through financial means but also by investing time and compassion into the lives of others. Pastor concludes by encouraging everyone to experience the profound joy God offers, asserting that through seeking His kingdom, believers can find lasting fulfillment and purpose in their lives.…

We discussed something that popped up in this morning's sermon. In Ephesians 4:11, Paul tells us that Jesus gave 5 gifts for the church: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Shepherds, Teachers. So, we spent a few mins talking about the implications of those gifts on the church.
In his sermon, Pastor Nick reflects on Deuteronomy 18, where Moses speaks of a future prophet who will arise among the Israelites. He delves into Moses' role as a mediator between God and His people, emphasizing the need for discernment in recognizing God’s voice amidst the noise of the world. Drawing from his own experiences, Pastor Nick encourages the congregation to actively seek God’s leading in their lives through practical acts of generosity, such as setting aside a small amount of money to bless those in need, thereby tuning their spiritual ears to God's guidance. Pastor Nick also highlights the importance of understanding how God has continuously raised leaders, including prophets, evangelists, and teachers throughout history. He points to Jesus as the ultimate fulfillment of Moses’ prophecy, explaining that Jesus not only redeems humanity from sin but also equips the church with various gifts to advance His mission. By urging his congregation to embrace their roles within the body of Christ, Pastor Nick inspires them to be active participants in their faith journeys and to follow the calling God has placed upon each of their lives.…
Sermon from Psalm 2 In his sermon, Nick explores the contrasting expectations that the Israelites had about the Messiah and the reality of Jesus' arrival and ministry. He emphasizes how, despite their hopes for a powerful and conventional king, Jesus came with a different purpose—bringing a radical message of love, salvation, and the promise of the Holy Spirit. Nick points out how God’s plans often exceed human imagination, reminding the congregation that the ultimate fulfillment of God’s promise is still to come, culminating in Jesus’ eventual return and the establishment of new heavens and a new earth. Nick also discusses the prophetic voice in Scripture, particularly in the Psalms, which not only addressed the immediate concerns of the Israelites but also conveyed timeless truths relevant to today’s world. He highlights themes of justice and caring for the marginalized—widows, orphans, and foreigners—stressing that true worship stems from a heart aligned with God’s values rather than mere ritual. Additionally, he calls on the church to renew its commitment to societal issues, emphasizing the importance of being active in compassionate ministry. Ultimately, Nick challenges the congregation to imagine a future transformed by Christ's love and emboldens them to seek a deeper relationship with God, fostering a community that reflects His justice and grace in every realm of life.…
In the sermon, Pastor delves into the story of Abraham and Sarah as outlined in Genesis 17. He emphasizes God’s promises to them, highlighting the covenant and profound significance of faith. The sermon explores how God asked Abraham to believe in a promise that seemed impossible at their advanced ages, showcasing the faith required to trust in God’s plans that transcend human understanding. Pastor discusses the overarching theme of hope and the belief that God has more in store for each individual than they may realize. He encourages listeners to dream big and reach for God’s promises, reminding them that doubt can cloud spiritual vision and hinder the blessings that await them. Throughout the sermon, Pastor reflects on how God’s faithfulness to Abraham can inspire believers today to embrace the Holy Spirit’s guiding presence and be open to the transformative power of God’s love, urging the congregation to actively live out this faith in their daily lives.…

Listen along to Pastor Kendall's sermon from Psalm 23 for this Thanksgiving week message!
In his sermon, Pastor Nick emphasizes the significance of living a Spirit-filled life, focusing on the ongoing process of being filled with the Holy Spirit. Over the past month, he has been guiding the congregation through various aspects of the fruit of the Spirit and how to cultivate a life that is pleasing to God. He draws parallels between our physical nourishment and spiritual health, illustrating how a life rooted in sinful desires can hinder the growth of good fruit in our lives. Pastor Nick encourages everyone to desire continuous filling of the Holy Spirit, prompting them to seek a deeper relationship with God and walk in His light. Referencing scriptures particularly from Galatians, Pastor Nick highlights the stark contrast between the desires of the flesh and living by the Spirit. He explains that one cannot love their neighbor as themselves while indulging in self-serving behaviors. The pastor also addresses key questions concerning who receives the Holy Spirit, when this occurs, and the importance of being filled at the moment of salvation and through baptism. He stresses the need for love, joy, patience, gentleness, and self-control as evidence of the Spirit's work in our lives. Concluding the message, Pastor Nick appeals for personal reflection on one's spiritual fruitfulness and reassures that God's grace awaits those seeking guidance in their spiritual journey, ultimately setting the stage for a potential revival in the community through genuine faith and love.…

In his sermon, Pastor Nick explores the concept of being rooted in the Spirit of God as part of the ongoing "Fruit of the Spirit" series. Drawing parallels between physical nourishment and spiritual well-being, he emphasizes how what we consume—whether in terms of food or spiritual enrichment—directly affects our growth and the fruit we bear in our lives. He highlights the importance of being mindful of our choices, suggesting that many of the activities we indulge in, like excessive consumption of junk food or mindless engagement with social media, may leave us feeling empty, much like a tree that fails to grow because its soil is devoid of nutrients. Pastor Nick challenges the congregation to assess what they are rooted in spiritually. He warns against substituting genuine fulfillment found in God for fleeting earthly pleasures and urges listeners to reflect on their lives, questioning whether they are feeding on experiences that nourish their spirit or simply chasing after momentary satisfaction. Through a scriptural lens, he illustrates that true joy and satisfaction come from being rooted in God's Spirit, which produces lasting fruit such as love and joy. As he prepares for the next part of the series, he leaves the audience with a reflective question: what in their lives needs to be removed to make space for the spiritual nourishment God desires for them? 00:03 - The Fruit of the Spirit 00:33 - Replacing cells 05:45 - How Much of Our Life Is Spent on chasing Illicit Pleasures? 10:33 - God's Spirit in our Life 18:22 - Galatians 5:19-21 21:07 - The List of Works of the Flesh 26:36 - John Piper on Satisfaction With God 33:55 - How to Fill Your Life With Pleasures 38:03 - What Needs to Go Away in Your Life?…

We dove into the complexities of Hebrews 7 on our Wednesday Bible Study class.
In the sermon, Pastor delves into the understanding of the Holy Spirit, emphasizing its significance in the life of Christians and how it transcends mere physical and mental existence. He explores the spiritual component of human nature, highlighting that there's an eternal aspect of who we are that continues beyond physical life. The sermon often refers to the celebrations of life, the importance of Jesus' promises of an everlasting life, and the role of the Holy Spirit in connecting believers to God. Pastor discusses the dual nature of existence, contrasting the desires and instincts of the flesh with the higher calling and spiritual truths revealed by the Holy Spirit. He stresses that acknowledging the spiritual component is crucial, especially in a world that often rejects such notions. Furthermore, he discusses how the Holy Spirit serves as an advocate, guiding Christians toward truth, righteousness, and ultimately leading them to live in accordance with God's will. Encouraging believers to not compartmentalize their relationship with the Holy Spirit, Pastor calls for full surrender to its guidance, emphasizing the importance of allowing the Holy Spirit to bear fruit in their lives. He reminds the congregation of their duty to confront sin and seek righteousness in a world where truth is often attacked. The essence of the message revolves around the call to recognize and live in the fullness of the Holy Spirit, which transforms lives and influences the broader community positively.…
Pastor Nick's opening sermon on the Fruit of the Spirit begins with a message that simply says: God is wanting to do more in your life than you ever could've dreamed. One of the ways he does this is by filling you with His Holy Spirit. The question is this: WHY would any of us want to go through this Christian life, missing out on everything God has for us?!…

Jesus and his disciples encounter a fierce storm on the Sea of Galilee. Despite the panic of the disciples, Jesus remains asleep, highlighting His profound peace amidst turmoil. Pastor Nick draws parallels between a youth leader named Rich who exhibited a sense of calm during a storm on a youth mission trip and the tranquility that trust in God can bring, even in life's challenges. He emphasizes that true peace comes from an intimate relationship with Jesus, urging listeners to entrust their lives and circumstances to Him. Just as the disciples were awed by Jesus's authority over nature, Pastor Nick encourages believers to embrace the awe and love of Christ and reminds them of the importance of faith and trust in every situation. Ultimately, Nick calls for a deeper commitment to God, asserting that recognizing His power can transform how one faces the storms of life.…

In this sermon, Pastor Nick discusses the profound meaning of baptism, drawing on passages from Galatians and Acts to illustrate his points. He emphasizes that baptism is not merely a ritualistic act or a reset button, but a crucial declaration of faith that signifies a new life in Christ. The sermon highlights the transformative power of baptism as an initiation into a relationship with God, where individuals are called to publicly express their faith. He reminds the congregation that without genuine belief and a willingness to submit to Christ, baptism is merely a physical act devoid of spiritual significance. Through the story of Simon the Sorcerer and the Ethiopian eunuch, Pastor emphasizes that baptism should be a conscious decision fueled by faith and an understanding of its implications. He articulates that baptism is a means of grace, sealing an individual's commitment to God and reflecting the inward transformation that occurs through faith. Nick encourages those considering baptism to examine their beliefs and motivations, highlighting that true faith leads to a deeper understanding of God's work in their lives. Ultimately, he invites the congregation to embrace this journey of faith, reinforcing that baptism is a significant step in expressing their commitment to Christ and His transformative grace.…

In this sermon, Pastor Nick explores the concept of Sabbath rest, emphasizing that Jesus is the ultimate fulfillment of that rest. He begins by reflecting on the significance of Sabbath as a divine gift, highlighting that it represents completion and blessing in God's creation. Throughout the sermon, Pastor examines various biblical passages, including Hebrews, Genesis, and Joshua, to establish that true rest is found in Jesus. He explains how Jesus not only fulfills the Old Testament law but also transcends it, offering a new covenant where salvation is freely given and not earned. Pastor discusses the Old Testament narrative of Israel, illustrating how their inability to maintain faith and obedience led to periods of unrest and exile. He contrasts this with Jesus, who offers a permanent solution to the toil of sin and the striving for righteousness through faith. By entering into a relationship with Christ, believers are assured of their rest, as salvation is not based on their works but on God's grace. The sermon concludes with an invitation to embrace the rest that Jesus provides, reminding the congregation that they are called to live out their faith through acts of love and service without the burden of earning their salvation.…

In this sermon, Pastor Nick discusses the Sabbath, presenting it as a divine gift from God intended for rest and rejuvenation. Highlighting scripture from Isaiah 58, Pastor Nick underscores the importance of observing the Sabbath to cultivate a deeper relationship with God, promoting faith over frantic attempts to control one’s productivity. This sermon takes the congregation on a historical journey, referencing the Israelites' liberation from slavery and their subsequent hardships in the wilderness. He illustrates that God’s instruction regarding the Sabbath was a command that offered rest and assurance of provision. Instead of viewing a day of rest as a burden, Nick encourages believers to embrace it as a time for spiritual replenishment and service to others. He stresses that by refraining from normal activities, even in our fast-paced modern lives, we allow God to work in our lives and provide for us, fostering joy and prosperity in our relationship with Him. Ultimately, this sermon calls for a reevaluation of how we utilize our time, urging the congregation to rest and care for those in need, thus honoring the purpose of the Sabbath.…

In today's sermon, Pastor discusses the pervasive stress and burnout that many people experience, despite technological advancements that were intended to make life easier. He emphasizes that Jesus invites the weary to find rest through observing the Sabbath, a divine gift meant for rejuvenation and connection with God and family. In the final week of the series on basic Christianity, Pastor focuses on the teachings of Jesus as presented in Matthew 5:43-48, specifically during the sermon on the mount. Here, Jesus challenges the common understanding of loving one's neighbor while hating one's enemy by calling his followers to love their enemies and pray for those who persecute them. Pastor emphasizes that living as part of God’s kingdom requires looking beyond worldly definitions of love and enmity, particularly in a society riddled with divisions and hatreds. He highlights that loving one’s enemies serves as a distinguishing mark of those who belong to God.Through vivid examples, Pastor explains the cultural context of Jesus’ time, where tax collectors were seen as traitorous collaborators with the Roman oppressors. He draws parallels between these biblical instances and present-day scenarios where individuals or groups can be perceived as adversaries. By urging his audience to engage with even those who oppose them, Pastor illustrates that this engagement, grounded in prayer and love, is crucial to embodying the identity of a follower of Christ. He concludes by encouraging listeners to strive for this kind of love, comparing it to aiming for perfection—not in flawless execution, but in the intention of living a life reflective of God’s grace and mercy.…
Pastor Nick's sermon "Salt n Light" explores the biblical concept of Christians being salt and light in the world, drawing from Jesus' teachings in the Sermon on the Mount. By emphasizing the importance of living according to Jesus' ways and standing out from the world, believers are encouraged to be distinctive and impactful. Through the metaphor of salt and light, Pastor Nick highlights the roles of Christians in enhancing goodness, reflecting God's character, and being a beacon of hope. We opened our Bible Study with a study on the Cultural Context of Hebrews, moving then into a verse by verse study.
In his sermon "Foundations Matter" from the series "Basic Christianity", Pastor Nick delves into Jesus' teachings from the Sermon on the Mount. Focusing on the metaphor of the narrow gate from Matthew 7:13-14, Nick underlines the critical nature of building our lives on a solid, spiritual foundation and not succumbing to the allure of the wide path that inevitably leads to destruction. He depicts Jesus' vision for Christians' way of life as laid out in His sermon, particularly the narrow gate as a representation of the challenging and less opted for path that opens into life.Nick uses the example of a concealed gate in a forest trail to further illustrate the idea of the narrow gate. He stresses that the easy, popular, and more frequented wide path does not equate to purpose and fulfillment in life. Throughout his sermon, he enlightens the audience on Satan's deceitful tactics to draw them away from the narrow gate - tactics including the undermining of God’s necessity in our life, tearing down familial bonds, dulling spiritual alertness, and enticing with earthly pleasures.Nick bravely points out past mistakes of the church, such as the undue celebrity status accorded to pastors, favoring entertainment over true discipleship, and marginalizing certain social groups. He fervently implores the church to acknowledge these errors, striving instead to anchor its foundation in Jesus' teachings. He ends on a hopeful note, reassuring his audience of Jesus' victory over the world, urging them to construct their lives on the solid foundation of Christ’s doctrines. Nick emphasizes that despite the unpopularity and difficulty of the narrow path, it is the only road leading to genuine life and fulfillment. This summary offers a robust outline of Nick’s sermon and can serve as a tool for generating post-sermon discussions and social media content.…

In the sermon titled "The Final Rung...Or is it?" from the series "Beatitudes-The Blessing Ladder," Pastor Nick delves into exploring the concept of the kingdom of heaven. He illustrates that though the kingdom is said to be manifesting here on earth, it may not be evident to all. Nick uses the analogy of people's different ways of consuming news to underline the importance of the right mindset when approaching the kingdom of heaven. Encouraging listeners to shed their prior assumptions and convictions, he advocates examining the scriptures from a fresh viewpoint.Nick suggests viewing the Beatitudes in the context of a ladder, each rung offering a pathway for worshipers to visualize and experience God's kingdom. Each Beatitude, he explicates, carries its unique import. He highlights the significance of being poor in spirit, mourning, displaying meekness, craving righteousness, extending mercy, fostering a pure heart, and being a peacemaker. Nick emphasizes that embodying these virtues might provoke persecution, yet believers are advised to stay grounded in their faith.Nick recalls the early disciples who endured persecution owing to their unwavering faith. Urging the present-day audience to live a life of devotion that emulates Christ to others, he mentions that it is praiseworthy if they face mockery for their faith. He refers to instances from the Book of Acts where Christians underwent ridicule, imprisonment, and persecution for upholding their faith. Nick acknowledges the altered landscape of religious persecution in today's society, however remarks that believers may confront insult and shaming for adhering to a righteous life.Concluding, Pastor Nick consoles the believers that a holy life may draw persecution but also acts as an encouragement for them to stay staunch in these beliefs. Using the examples of biblical figures who bore persecution, Nick underscores fixing one's gaze on Jesus. He affirms that believers should treasure insult and persecution for their faith as blessings, keeping in mind their reward that is secured in heaven.…

Pastor Rob's sermon, "Self Preservation," delves deep into the subject of self-preservation and how it might negatively affect our bond with God. Rob illustrates this through his experiences at Loving Hands Ministry, stressing the vital role of mentors in his spiritual journey. Through his interpretation of the Bible's Matthew 12, Rob stresses that Sabbath was meant to be a day of rest and holiness rather than a checklist of rules, a perspective that is supported by Jesus's account of David and Abiathar. Pointing out David's volatility during his self-preservation period, Pastor Rob implores his audience to scrutinize their personal alignments closely. Self-preservation, he cautions, often leads us into relationships and alliances God did not intend for us, and these can bear significant costs. Rob also underlines the ripple effect of self-preservation - how it leads to the demise of the priesthood and puts future generations in challenging situations. Further into the sermon, Rob explores how God has always come to our rescue, using the prophet Jeremiah's story to illustrate God's capacity to correct our chaos. Despite our misguided self-preservation attempts, Rob emphasizes that divine plans always find a way forward. The sermon insists that we must closely evaluate our relationships and alliances, ensuring they align with God's plans to achieve spiritual growth. In conclusion, Pastor Rob's sermon challenges the concept of self-preservation, highlighting its potential to hinder our relationship with God. Rob uses David and Abiathar's story to underline the pitfalls of self-preservation and the necessity of aligning with God's intentions. In the sermon "Forgive Like Jesus," Pastor Nick addresses the significant impact of forgiveness. He notes that many people harbor anger and hurt due to others' actions, which subsequently holds them back and hinders growth. The sermon uses Jesus' words to Peter in the New Testament, suggesting he should forgive individuals who wrong him not just seven times, but seventy-seven, emphasizing that forgiveness isn't purely about reconciliation with others but about receiving God's forgiveness too.Pastor Nick further illustrates the theme of forgiveness by referencing the Old Testament's story of Lamech, who pursued revenge following injury, in contrast to Jesus' teachings on forgiveness. The sermon's central message is that forgiveness is not merely an act of kindness, but vital for healing and reconciliation. The pastor conveys that forgiveness is challenging, yet beneficial to one's welfare, and even recommends reading Terry Stueck's book "Forgive Instantly and Live Free" to further understand this concept.
