THE POWER OF UNITY Series: The Power Of Unity – Week #6 Pastor Tony Avila March 26, 2023 “When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. 2 And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3 Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them. 4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven… 12 So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?” Acts 2:1-5, 12 (NKJV) “Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men and brethren, what shall we do?” 38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” 40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.” Acts 2:37 42-47 (NKJV) “On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. All the believers were one in heart and mind.” Acts 4: 4:23-24, 31-32 (NIV) TO SEE A REVIVAL, WE NEED TO BE… 1. Unified In Glorifying God “So that with one accord you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:6 (NASB1995) 2. Unified In Our Commitment To God “And may your hearts be fully committed to the Lord our God, to live by his decrees and obey his commands, as at this time.” 1 Kings 8:61 (NIV) 3. Unified In Seeking God For Miracles “Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!” 1 Chronicles 16:11 (ESV) 4. Unified In Praying For An Outpouring “And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit…” Acts 4:31 5. Unified In Expectation “Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see.” Hebrews 11:1 (CEV) 6. Unified In Obedience To God’s Word “Obey God's message! Don't fool yourselves by just listening to it.” James 1:22 (CEV) 7.
