Approaching music from an analogical perspective, TUKAN takes up the codes of electronic music and delivers an exhilarating sound. Combining organic textures with vibrant soundscapes, the quartet is set to release new album ‘Human Drift’ on the 24th January via Magma.
A unique voice in the Belgian music scene, ‘Human Drift’ was composed with the idea of what music can provoke in a collective space: transformation. It’s an album about connection and letting go, with each sound an invitation to surrender and drift together towards unforeseen horizons. It’s a human experience; an album that embodies the spirit of community, celebration, and sharing in a world leaning towards isolation and individualism.
Each track on ‘Human Drift’ blends electronic grooves with instrumental melodies to highlight how music can transcend language and create authentic bonds between people. With tracks such as the high-tempo, free-flowing ‘Roda’ and the propulsive beats of ‘Blinker’ and ‘Reset’, TUKAN demonstrate a naturally instinctive urge for their audience to feel every note.
In 2021, TUKAN released their self-titled debut EP, a crucial milestone that laid the foundation for their artistic transformation. The following year, they unveiled their debut album ‘Atoll’ to critical acclaim, and it received support from electronic tastemakers including DJ Mag and Electronic Sound. The album launched the band into a world tour with over 150 shows including performances at Dour Festival, Vieilles Charrues, Fusion Festival, Eurosonic and more. In 2023, Alexandre Gauthier replaced Tommaso Patrix, adding a new dimension to the TUKAN sound.
