In the early summer or 1764 a girl named Marie Jeanne Vallet was attacked by a mysterious beast while tending to her flock in the province of Gévaudan South-Central France. Her flock defended her and she left with her life, but others were not so lucky. In the 3 years that followed many more people were attacked and killed. Some sources claim up to 600 attacks and 500 deaths occurred during this time. Rumors were rife in the province which eventually spread across the country and eventually the world. The Beast of Gévaudan was giant wolf/lion like creature that seemed to evade hunters and survive bullets. What creature was behind the attacks? Was it a giant armoured dog controlled by mass murderer? Was it a lion that had escaped from a private collection? Were aliens behind the killings?
