‘Queer Enough: an honest conversation stereotypes, screen time, and self-definition’ About Voices of Us: 'Voices of Us' (VOU) is a podcast that shares authentic stories from LGBTQIA+ international students, alumni and allies. In this episode of Voices of Us, queer international creatives from the film industry, Ayuka and Patitta, reflect on how media shaped — and sometimes distorted — their sense of identity. From first queer glimpses to global cultural gaps, this conversation peels back the layers of representation: what sticks, what’s missing, and what still needs to be told. Whether you’ve seen "yourself" on screen or not, this episode invites you to think about how media not only reflects queerness — but also performs, pressures, and sometimes rewrites it. About the host: Feifei Liao was born and raised in Sichuan, China. She is multi-passionate, multi-disciplinary and multi-lingual, with the energy to light up a room. As a founder of a couple of social enterprises, creative producer, facilitator, multi-cultural and community development advisor, dancer, mental health speaker, recovery educator, and advocate for inclusion, diversity and equity, bringing people together through creativity, stories and shared experience is Feifei’s heartland. Follow Feifei: feifeicuriosity.com About the speakers: Patitta (@tanjira_j) is a Melbourne-based project manager with roots in Bangkok and a background in film, festivals, and cultural events. She currently works at Fever, producing large-scale experiences, and has previously led film distribution and festival programming across global markets. Patitta brings a unique blend of creativity and strategy to everything she does. When she’s not running events, you’ll find her exploring art, food spots, and hidden corners of the city. Ayuka (@ayukadp) is a Japanese non-binary cinematographer based in Naarm. They have been in the indie film industry since 2019. They are passionate about helping tell stories by underrepresented folks.
