Sunday, September 15, 2024, we will continue our study of 2 Peter. The title of today’s message is "Overcoming the Doctrine of Balaam." Peter, Jude, and John all identify Balaam as a false prophet whose teachings are relevant and dangerous, especially in the end times. The main idea behind this false teaching is the belief that one can engage with the worldly system and still maintain a pleasing relationship with God. Balaam thought he could maneuver around God’s direct commands to get the financial gain he wanted without penalty. This deceitful teaching is infiltrating the church, as indicated in Revelation 2:14, where it is described as happening in the Church of Pergamum. God hates the false teachings that would destroy relationships with His children, and that is exactly what the doctrine of Balaam results in.
