In Rugby Union: Japan trashed Canada 28-55 in their Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup opening round clash at BC Place in downtown Vancouver yesterday.
This weekend sees Manu Samoa take on Tonga in Apia on Friday and the USA versus Canada on Sunday, with Mick Byrne and the Flying Fijians on a bye.
And in Rugby League: In one of the tightest finishes to an NRL season, only the Storm know their finals finishing position, after securing the minor premiership last Saturday.
Meanwhile, in the mayhem below them; the Roosters and Sharks leapfrogged the Panthers into the Top 4, with all three on 36 points followed by the Bulldogs (34), Cowboys (32) and the Manly Sea Eagles (31).

In Football: Former England Manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has passed away aged 76 after revealing he had terminal pancreatic cancer earlier this year.
Eriksson spent five years as the Three Lions’ boss – taking England to the quarter-finals in two World Cups and a European Championship.

In Sportsbiz: The Paris Paralympics, which gets underway in Paris tomorrow, will get a boost from being fully aired on US streaming giant Peacock and will be broadcast in a record number of countries, with all 22 sports being shown live in some capacity for the first time.
TikTok will also be a key part of bringing more exposure to the Paralympics.
In the NBA: In planning for life after LeBron James, the Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly identified Luka Doncic as their next superstar target.
Alongside Kyrie Irving, the Slovenian star led the Dallas Mavericks all the way to the NBA Finals last season, going down to a star-studded Celtics.
As it stands, Doncic has a player option for the 2026-27 season, but he’s eligible for a supermax extension next off-season, which could be worth over US$340Million.
And in Boxing: A Miami-based jeweler claims Floyd “Money” Mayweather owes him US$4Million for high-end watches and diamond jewelry he purchased back in 2021, according to a federal lawsuit.
The jeweler claims he sold the boxing great a yellow-gold Audemars Piguet watch, two Richard Mille watches, a Patek Philippe watch, a rose-gold Rolex, a diamond ring and a diamond necklace.
