Welcome Ray Evernham

We’re joined on the Starline by a simple mechanic from New Jersey with more than four decades of experience in automotive and racing industries. He has worked with the biggest names in racing and now told his story to Joe Garner. It’s called “Trophies and Scars”.

We welcome the NASCAR Hall of Famer who loves building fast cars Ray Evernham.

Ray, let’s go Beyond the Mic. Why was telling your story important to you and which was the biggest scar?

As you talked to Joe, was there one story you held back on telling him because it was too personal, or did you let it all hang out?

Always looking to the future, your Lakota tribe name is Megaso, or eagle. How has motor sports improved from when you started to today?

Have cars gotten too fast due to technology?

The Rockin' 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions, answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. You lent Roger Penske a quarter and it was a good investment in your future. Other than Jeff Gordon and family, who’s the one person you enjoyed helping succeed?

2. Favorite car you’ve ever owned?

3. Car you never liked?

4. Best memory of Hazlet, New Jersey?

5. Best NASCAR track right now?

6. What’s your daily driver?

7. If you were not going to be in racing, what career would you have liked to try?

8. Best thing about Erin?

The Back Half:

You recently acquired the IROC brand, which you say in your book taught you “discipline and gave me the skills to run a winning team”. I know you plan to offer entertainment services and exhibitions. BUT, is there a possibility of bringing back the International Race of Champions?

How does that make you feel?

What kind of car would you like to run IROC to run today?

What’s your favorite racing memory?

You are big into helping other reach the dreams. What’s the biggest tip you have?

One Big Question:

You’ve been part of so many great races, people, friendships and stories in racing. Who is the one person you miss the most today?

Sneaking in One More:

Has your love of racing changed since you started?

The Wrap:

His wife is a bad ass sprint car driver, misses Dale Earnhardt and wants you to read his book “Trophies and Scars” Ray Evernham, thanks for taking the time to talk with us today.

And that my friends is a Beyond the Mic Short Cut.
