Zack Kassian trade reaction

Better Lait Than Never

The first round of the NHL Draft is complete and so too is Zack Kassian's time here in Edmonton as he was moved to the Arizona Coyotes in a cap-dump trade. Since I've got everything set up in my house anyway, I wanted to record a quick reaction podcast to say goodbye and look ahead at what comes next.

Can you believe it's almost been seven years since the Oilers traded Ben Scrivens to Montreal in exchange for Zack Kassian? On December 28th, 2015, the Oilers moved the Professor to Montreal for Kassian who was going through some tough times in his personal life. Upon his arrival, it didn't take long for Kass to win the crowd over with his knack for timely goals and a willingness to drop the mitts with just about everyone. Needless to say, there were plenty of good times in those early days. But as his tenure went along and this latest contract was signed, expectations for Kassian grew beyond what was seemingly doable for the 31-year-old forward, and that meant he had to go in order to clear some space. Even though things didn't necessarily end the way we wanted them to end, I still wanted to say goodbye to a guy that gave us plenty to cheer and argue about over the years, and I wish him nothing but the best in Arizona.
