Don’t Compare Struggles
Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome.
It’s time for us to stop comparing ourselves to others. Let us not denigrate ourselves because we have not reached the levels someone else has reached. Let us not denigrate others because they have not reached the levels we have reached.
Everyone’s journey is different. Everyone faces challenges that are specific and unique to them. We can never really know all the struggles others face.
I once went to a doctor’s appointment with my father. Another patient in the waiting room looking at my father, and apparently feeling sorry for himself, declared that my father wouldn’t want to trade what my father had for what he had.
I don’t know what this gentleman had. I’m sure it wasn’t good. But my father, despite his appearance, had terminal lung cancer and had just a few months to live.
Let’s stop comparing ourselves to others. Let us simply help each other as we can.
