1 Transforming Due Diligence with AI: Wokelo’s Automation of Private Market Research and Risk Analysis 44:11
In this episode of The Innovators & Investors Podcast, host Kristian Marquez sits down with Sid Masson, co-founder and CEO of Wokelo AI, to explore how their platform is transforming due diligence and research workflows in private equity, venture capital, consulting, and banking. Sid shares the origins of Wokelo AI, born from firsthand experience with the tedious and error-prone aspects of manual data analysis, and how their agent-driven platform automates complex data synthesis—turning scattered public and proprietary datasets into tailored, actionable insights and well-crafted deliverables. The conversation delves into the nuanced approach Wokelo takes toward risk assessment by integrating unconventional signals from social media, user reviews, and expert interviews, aiming to provide a comprehensive and balanced view beyond traditional metrics. Sid also discusses the evolution of their product from a single-feature diligence tool to a versatile, no-code platform empowering users to build customized AI agents that fit unique workflows. The episode highlights key lessons learned in product design, emphasizing founder-led UX development early on, and the strategic decisions around hybrid remote work culture to attract and retain top talent globally. Sid offers candid reflections on fundraising challenges during a tough market, the importance of investor alignment beyond capital, and how they allocate resources prioritizing rapid product innovation ahead of scaling sales and marketing. Listeners gain valuable perspectives on navigating startup growth, maintaining culture, and leveraging AI to augment—not replace—human expertise across the investment lifecycle. Sid closes with personal insights on adaptability, discipline, and continuous learning that have shaped his entrepreneurial journey, making this episode a rich resource for founders, investors, and professionals interested in the intersection of AI and private market research. I noticed some heated online arguments in the anthropology world about human sexuality, where several noted anthropologists recommended the book “Sex is a Spectrum” by Agustin Fuentes, so I read it. There’s so much info to share about Canopus that it needed a second episode! In this episode, we take a look at some of the myths and deities associated with Canopus as well as earlier finds that have provided us with important details about the city. According to myth, the city began a the site where a Homeric hero met a gruesome end. It grew to become the main trade hub connecting Mediterranean routes to the Nile, a sacred city of several deities, and an internationally famous center of healing. Under the Ptolemies, Canopus became the site of the Mysteries of Osiris, blending Greek and Egyptian rituals of death and rebirth in order to gain sacred knowledge. We’ll explore all we know about this mysterious annual ritual and others that were held here. In this episode, Alan is joined by visual artist Shefa Salem al‑Baraesi, a Benghazi‑based creator whose oil paintings re‑imagine Libya’s archaeological heritage—like the inverted‑figure boat scene from the Acacus cave art—and ancient rituals such as the Kaska dance. Through her realistic, large‑scale works, Shefa transforms written history and myth into evocative visual narratives that resonate with everyday Libyans. Her exhibitions, I Am Libya and Ethnolibya , bring these ancestral images forward as a living, shared national memory. In this episode of Ethnocynology with David Ian Howe , I sit down with my good friend and former graduate school cohort member Cassidee Thornhill , Collections Manager at the University of Wyoming Archaeological Repository. Cassidee’s research dives into the early contact era in Wyoming , focusing on the arrival and spread of horses before and during European colonization. We discuss her fascinating thesis work on the Black’s Fork River site , where a young foal was found buried alongside three coyote skulls—an extraordinary archaeological discovery that sheds light on early human–horse relationships on the Plains. Topics we cover include: The Black’s Fork horse burial and its cultural significance Early radiocarbon dates showing horses in Wyoming decades before the Pueblo Revolt Evidence of early veterinary care and human–horse bonds How horses transformed Native economies, sovereignty, and resistance Genetic research linking early horses in the Americas to Spanish (and later British) stock The broader story of how horses reshaped Indigenous life across the Plains Cassidee also shares her perspective on whether horses or dogs have been more influential in human history —a big question we love to ask on this show. This episode is the extended interview version you won’t find on YouTube—perfect for listeners who want the full deep dive into Cassidee’s groundbreaking work. In this episode George takes us inside our own nervous system. For hundreds of millions of years our ancestors have survived unimaginable challenges and these countless events shaped our evolution. To cope with the volatile climates we faced, our body’s evolved through survival and today we are carrying around the same software…and it’s all still trying to keep us alive. By learning to communicate within our own bodies (via nervous system regulation) we can make end the internal conflict and feel safe, all the time. Hopefully nervous system regulation becomes the new norm and we can finally step into that space age.
