In this premiere episode of "The God Hook," host Carol Costello introduces the chilling story of Richard Beasley, infamously known as the Ohio Craigslist Killer. In previously unreleased jailhouse recordings, Beasley portrays himself as a devout Christian, concealing his manipulative and predatory behavior. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that Beasley's deceitfulness extends beyond the victims he buried in shallow graves. Listen to the preview of a bonus conversation between Carol and Emily available after the episode. Additional info at carolcostellopresents.com . Do you have questions about this series? Up until just a few months ago Mike Tentindo never had to look for a job... This happily married father of two young daughters was doing just fine Until January, that is... That's when Mike got laid off For the first time - at the age of 49 - Mike was out of work! Was he nervous? Kind of... Did he panic? No Did he secure a new job? Not yet. So what is this episode about? It's about taking a step back to evaluate It's about identifying what you want It's about recognizing what you are meant to do Listen today! #recruiting #staffing #jobs https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cut-through-the-noise-with-dave-turano/id1466812912…
Easily one of the best conversations I've had since starting the podcast It's a mandatory listen for anyone that wants to know what it takes to effectively secure a job after school! Born & rasied just outside of Chicago; Paddy Wangelin 2024 graduate of Coastal Carolina University with a degree in Sports Communication & fis the ormer President of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity What has he been doing with his time post grad??? Answer: Teaching pre-school & delivering wood while looking for a full time job! The transition from College to the real world has not been easy, for Paddy, but he has learned a ton of valuable lessons in the process In fact, one of those lessons paid off as he just landed an internship with Princeton Group Sports Marketing starting in May as a Sales & Marketing Intern. What exactly did Wangelin learn? What advice does he have for young people when it comes to securing a job? Listen here to find out! https://open.spotify.com/show/5KrU7tS8QMSpgYiMAtxByV?si=IT3v1ArHR_qlvzOAc0Ti6A https://www.youtube.com/@cutthroughthenoisewithdave5192…
Know any interesting people? Like maybe someone that's flown in an F-16 Fighter Jet? Or a person that spent 15 years touring as a country music singer - that shared the stage with superstars like , , , , or ? Or maybe you know a firefighter or an EMT? Or a Life Coach? Or a person with 30 years of experience in the manufacturing industry; working at companies that make really cool stiff like military drones? _________________________________________________________________________ Well guess what??? I know someone that's done all of that stuff!!! And I got to talk with him... His name is Chad Burdick. And he's just getting started! Hope you enjoy this episode! @-burdick-motivation-coaching/ https://open.spotify.com/show/5KrU7tS8QMSpgYiMAtxByV?si=bb741db9a5474190…
Former colleague, Jim Boyd, Founder of Cirrus Group Consulting, joined me to talk about career paths and midlife career changes. It's fitting since Jim made a career change of his own just a couple years shy of his fiftieth birthday. In 2019, he started his own Data/AI Consulting firm. One year later the pandemic hit. And in 2024, he and his family packed their bags and moved from the US to Australia! Today Jim runs US-based, Cirrus, from down under. During his career, Jim has helped thousands of people naviagte their careers. He understands the challenges associated with making the decision to persue a new path. We talked about cultural fit, job interviews, the importance of networking, and maintaining a healthy work-life balance. But perhaps the most important piece of advice had to do with being genuine and true to oneself. Hope you enjoy! Eric Czerlonka is CEO and Managing Director of Czerlonka Event Design and Management - an organization known for planning luxury events and excuting unique travel experiences in places like Marrakesh, Buenos Aires and Rwanda. They also customize domestic excursions in the US to fit the personalities of their flourishing client base. To say Czerlonka has traveled the world is an understatement, but in doing so he has amassed a powerful community of connections that support him to create these experiences. Eric is one of five children - born and raised in Dracut, MA. He had a nice childhood, but not an extravagant one. His family vacations consisted of day trips to the beach or weekends in the mountains. In fact, he did not fly in an airplane until he was 16 or travel outside the US until he was 30. Czerlonka chose to study Engineering at the New York Institute of Technology, and learned quickly that it wasnt for him Four years later graduated with a BA in Adversting. What did he took afterwards?!? He spent the better part of the next ten years waiting tables and bartending - four of them at the Navy Pier! The hospitality industry taught Czerlonka a lot about people, connections, service and relationships - all of which are integral to his business today. After his days waiting and bartending, he landed Director level jobs at the likes of The Boston Harbor Hotel, The Ritz Carlton and Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group, where he got the equivalent of a doctorate degree in Luxury Event Planning, Catering and Superior Customer Service. His path wasn't planned It was indirect. And it was hard at times But in the end, Czerlonka wouldn't change a thing Why does this man have a delusional belief in himself? Find out on 12/17... Donn Young did not start drinking until his Junior year in High School - he was late to the game by many standards... Donn didn't fit in...until he discovered alcohol... It was like a light switch! Why did he get help at 25? Because his parents couldn't afford to lose another child... Mark Nussbaum was one of the founders of Signature Consultants, served as its COO for 20 years and most recently served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Dexian. Currently, Mark serves as a Strategic Advisor. One part visionary, one part anthropologist, one part lawyer, Mark manages to stay a step ahead — in business, strategy, IT staffing, you name it — while remaining utterly present when you talk to him. In all of his roles, Mark heralds the importance of getting to know and understand people. He leads by example. Growth mindset isn’t a buzzword for him. It’s a way of life. And he makes sure the people throughout the organization have the feedback and tools they need to learn, grow and thrive. Mark joined Signature in 2000, following undergrad and law degrees from the University of Michigan, being senior partner at the leading law firm of Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, and serving as EVP at premiere medical real estate development firm Rendina Companies. He’s a passionate Bob Dylan and Bruce Springsteen fan (and a music lover, in general) who isn’t afraid to call on a favorite lyric to drive home his point. Mark calls both Boston and Fort Lauderdale home, but makes his way across the U.S. for speaking engagements about the future of work and the nature of companies. Welcome to Cut Through the Noise, bringing you the truth behind the headlines in business and current events, Hosted by Dave Turano 'When I got out of college, the job market was horrendous and I didn't know what I wanted to do. For a year, I applied to every job on the planet and saved up a stack of rejection letters from all off them' So what did Tom Hannigan and his Criminal Justice degree do after he graduated from St. Anselm College? He worked in a warehouse, and then as a security guard, and finally as a claims adjuster. A few years later, his buddy got him an interview at EMC for a sales job. Tom had not heard of EMC at at the time, but he took the interview anyway. And? He fell short... His buddy shared the following feedback when it was over... 'They said you were pretty mediocre...' Thankfully for Tom, EMC gave him a second chance. 'I was at the right place at the right time and blessed to be molded by them' Tom put in the work and rose through the ranks at EMC for the next 16 years. Like many children born into military families, Renee Viens moved a lot when she was a child. After her parents divorced when she was thirteen, Renee stepped up to help her Mom. If something needed to get done - she figured it out. 'I was a little Mom' Renee became an adult an early age; taking on housekeeping duties, meal prep and caring for her younger sister. Renee learned the value of anticipation, risk management and consequential thinking well before she went to college. These same skills still serve her today as an Executive Assistant, Coach and Mentor. 'I've made art form out of living around other people for their convenience,' as a behind the scenes support system, organizer and copilot, which is why she is able to successfully support many talented professionals of all levels as they navigate their careers. 'Executive Assistants put so much into the things that we do - We are our jobs. We are kind of married to our work - The people we support are always in our brain.' Please take the time to listen to Renee's insights on mentorship, coaching and what it is like to be inside the mind of an Executive. She was put here to do this work! https://reneeviens.com/…

Welcome to Cut Through the Noise, bringing you the truth behind the headlines in business and current events, Hosted by Dave Turano. Not many people have the courage to walk away from the security of a great job, especially when they love what they do. But that's s exactly what Liam Martin did. After fifteen years in broadcast television; the last four as morning anchor at WBZ Boston; Liam said goodbye to explore a new venture in the private sector. Martin partnered up with Jackie Bruno and Rachel Robbins at Newsmaker Marketing; a Public Relations firm that helps its clients tell their stories through video, social media marketing, and by helping them to get hits on the news! It's been six weeks since he made the announcement and he has no regrets at all! 'What it really boiled down to was my mental health, and wanting to be the husband and dad that I want to be,' is what Liam expressed to me when I asked him why he decided to do this. About a year into working the morning shift, he knew something wasn't right... Getting up at 2:15 AM each day was taking a toll on him...fog-brain, depression, and anxiety had set in, only exacerbating some of the mental health challenges that he had experienced as a child. Thankfully, with the support of his family, friends and regular therapy, he is working to incorporate several routines that have helped him to feel a little better. You can hear what Liam's routines are by subscribing to Cut Through the Noise on Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music or YouTube. Hope you enjoy this conversation. I know that I did! Long time friend & fellow Stonehill College grad, Scott Dussault, joined me this week to talk start-ups, technology, people, communication and phony phone calls! Scott has more than two decades of operational and financial leadership experience, and a track record of success in both public and private technology companies. Scott kicked off his career at E&Y and then quickly transitioned into a CFO at companies like Storage Networks, Archivas, Demandware, Nasuni and Workhuman. For the last seven years Scott has advised entrepreneurs and start-ups in the tech sector by leveraging a unique blend of people skills, operational excellence and creativity to get them to the next stage of growth. Scott received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Stonehill College and was presented with the Gold Medal by the Massachusetts Board of Public Accountancy for receiving the highest score in the state in the May 1993 CPA exam. From childhood to present day, Scott has a laundry list of impressive accomplishments, but when all is said and done, he is likely to go down in history as the greatest prank phone caller of all time! This was a fun conversation!…
Anyone remember the 'The Island of Misfit Toys' from the animated Christmas special, 'Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer'? It was a place that an unwanted toy was sent if a child didn't want to play with it... 'Charlie' in the box, the spotted elephant, and the water pistol that shot jelly were just three of many toys that were relegated to the island. If that special were made in 2024, I would imagine that the cast might have included 'Salespeople that forgot how to sell!' Bad joke... Thank you to Kortney Harmon, with Crelate, for a fun conversation about sales, recruiting and the importance of having a PROCESS! The mood of the staffing industry is somewhat flat these days A number of companies have reported that business is down between 15-30%! Why??? Lot's of reasons - Poor leadership and lack of process are two of them! Kortney shared a number of great ideas on how to drive engagement, consistency and confidence into sales and recruiting teams in the current environment Hope you enjoy! Raised in Queens by a single Mom, Carolyn never bought into the story that girls couldn't compete with boys, which is why she decided to tryout for the boys gymnastics team at Forest Hills High School when she was 15. 'This is the boys gym,' someone barked when she arrived. 'I know...I'm here to tryout for the boys team,' Carolyn quipped back. Shortly after that she found herself in the principals office... 'Why should I let you join the boys team?,' he asked 'Because I am better than some of the guys trying out' Guess what??? She made it! (The first girl to do so! Times were different then) Turns out that gender wasn't an obstacle... After High School Carolyn went on to build a successful career as a Learning & Development professional at companies like Citibank and MetLife, while raising three children. Years later, while in her 50's, Carolyn was selected to compete against a number of 20 and 30-something competitors on the reality show, Survivor... She finished second! Turns out that age wasn't an obstalce... After 'Survivor,' Carolyn started her own HR Consulting firm, did a Ted Talk and wrote a book And just a few years later, she lost her husband of 43 years unexpectedly Was that an obtacle? 'It was a crazy time - a shock. My whole life changed,' Carolyn reflected What is she up to now? Listen today!…

I'm proud to call this guy a friend - he's an amazing individual! Sean McCourt grew up in Teaneck, NJ; a lower middle class town just outisde of New York City. He his thankful to his Mom & Dad for instilling core values and just enough 'healthy neglect' to help him find his way in life. After High School, Sean spent four years at Roger Williams College in Rhode Island, where he ALMOST graduated! When he left college, Sean took a sales job with a staffing firm in Boston. And over the next fifteen years he often wondered what it would be like to have his own company, but the one thing that held him back was fear. 'I was afraid' Ultimately, it was Sean's wife Katherine that inspired him to take the chance. 'Stop being a P@$$y - Sh$t or get off the pot. You can do this!' And just like that...Longford & Associates was born. One year later, Katherine along with their three kids (Jack 5, Claire 2 and Will 3 months) had gone to visit her parents in upstate New York. Sean stayed home to work on the company and while at dinner with friends, he received a call from his father-in-law. that would change his forever. Please take the time to listen to his inspiring story.…

60 going on 26! Ken Johnson has more energy than most people half his age, which is a good thing because he plans to live for another 30-40 years! In 2022, Ken stepped down as CEO of @masmedicalstaffing after nearly twenty years at the helm. Just after 911, he and his team stumbled into the Healthcare Staffing space, but no one could have anticipated that the company would sell for nine figures two decades later. Their growth was 100% orgnanic - no mergers - no acquisitions - just 'brute force' and the willingess to embrace technology. In the early days Ken threw himself into his job, but 17 years ago his wife, Susan, confronted him about his drinking. 'It's the booze or it's me and the kids,' she said. She changed his life that day. Ken went on to say, 'I quit drinking and it was hard - it was the hardest thing I've ever done.' 'The battle was psychological, but today my life is so much better. Today is the happiest I've ever been.' In this conversation Ken and I talked about business, booze and life after selling his company. I hope it's a source of inspiration for anyone that might be struggling with an addiction or perhaps looking for a meaningful way to spend their time after moving on from a business or a career. #healthcare #nursing #healthcareworkers #travelnurse #technology #uber #alcohol #drinking #opportunity #hobbies #painting #guitar #newhampshire #acadianationalpark❤️ #maine #usnavy #coaching #leadership #sale #communication #workethic #hardwork #belief #ceo #privateequity #founder #living…
Best selling author and Executive Advisor, Scott Edinger; along with his long time friend and Fraternity Brother, Jay Brunetti, joined me to discuss everything from Trailer Parks to Leadership and all sorts of stuff in between. Scott's path was not an easy one. His Mom left home when he was 8 and he never knew his Dad, but with the support of a few good people in his life and a fair amount of therapy, Scott worked hard to acquire the skills and experience that allows him to advise Fortune 50 companies today. Check out 'The Growth Leader' if you want to understand how leadership, strategy and sales ought to intersect in a company. Edinger also explores the human side of business and dives deeply into how beliefs, behaviors and connection shape a company culture. Yuriy Margolin, CEO & Owner at Moving Sales Professionals and Host of 'Let's Talk Moving Podcast', joined me to discuss just about everything! Yuiy migrated to the US from Ukraine at 11 years old. His English was limited and his parents did not have much money, but his work ethic, determination and beliefs helped him build a life full of meaning. Yuriy is Jewish, born in Ukraine, raised in the US and his first language was Russian. His background and unique blend of objectivity and empathy, allowed us to have a healthy conversation about delicate topics like war, immigration and religion. We also managed to fit in some sales talk in between. I learned a lot and hope you enjoy. #ukraine #israel #russia #palestine #sales #moving @yuriymargolin…

Who's repsonsible for your burnout? What can be done about it? David Greenwood, author of, 'Overcoming Burnout-Real-life Strategies for Burnout Prevention and Recovery' shared some ideas with me. Greenwood works one-on-one with busy professionals that have ADHD or burnout, and in some cases both. He helps them thrive in business and in life, lower their stress and minimize the distractions that are challenging them. Together they build the systems they require to achieve the balance they desire in life. David's also hosts a popular ADHD podcast called, 'Overcoming Distractions-thriving with Adult ADHD,' which happens to be the name of his first book. Hope you enjoy our conversation.…
