The book of Psalms contains 150 poetry entries, so what better way to end the year than by reading and meditating on a Psalm a day. Psalms reflects both joy and despair. It is an emotionally poetry entry for each scripture entry in the book. Essentially you are getting to read a journal entry by the writer. Poetry requires you to open your mind and heart.
