Rusty is a retired judge attempting a third act in life with a loving soon-to-be wife, Bea, with whom he shares both a restful home on an idyllic lake in the rural Midwest and a plaintive hope that this marriage will be his best, and his last. But the peace that's taken Rusty so long to find evaporates when Bea's young adult son, Aaron, living under their supervision while on probation for drug possession, disappears. If Aaron doesn't return soon, he will be sent back to jail. Aaron eventually turns up with a vague story about a camping trip with his troubled girlfriend, Mae, that ended in a fight and a long hitchhike home. Days later, when she still hasn't returned, suspicion falls on Aaron, and when Mae is subsequently discovered dead, Aaron is arrested and set for trial on charges of first-degree murder. Faced with few choices and even fewer hopes, Bea begs Rusty to return to court one last time, to defend her son and to save their last best hope for happiness. For Rusty, the question is not whether to defend Aaron, or whether the boy is in fact innocent-it's whether the system to which he has devoted his life can ever provide true justice for those who are presumed guilty.

×-Missed Opportunity- I love sharing conversations. Hosting requires show prep. My podcasting platforms feature thousands of guests. What you don’t have access to are the missed opportunities. The show prep was completed. The conversation didn’t happen. I keep all my notes! Paths will cross again. Let me explain Missed Opportunity. It’s my questions and statements without their answers. I’m leaving open enough space at the end of each question hoping they’ll download the talk and insert their answers.Missed Opportunity is a lost piece of history. Like a message in a bottle tossed out to sea. I hope to locate a destination… This week we’re putting focus on my missed opportunity with Rock n Roll icon biographer the legendary Jesse Fink Missed Opportunity. A lost piece of history. You know the questions. Let’s locate the reactions. The door is always open. Reach out to me at arroec@gmail.com that’s arroec@gmail.com Be brilliant! A spine-tingling standalone novel by bestselling author TJ Klune—a supernatural road-trip thriller featuring an extraordinary young girl and her two unlikely protectors on the run from cultists and the government. There's nothing more human than a broken heart. In the spring of 1995, Nate Cartwright has lost everything: his parents are dead, his only brother wants nothing to do with him, and he's been fired from his job as a journalist in Washington, DC. With nothing left to lose, he returns to his family's summer cabin outside the small mountain town of Roseland, Oregon, to try and find some sense of direction. The cabin should be empty. It's not. Inside is a man named Alex. And with him is an extraordinary ten-year-old girl who calls herself Artemis Darth Vader. Artemis, who isn't exactly as she appears. Soon it becomes clear that Nate must make a choice: let himself drown in the memories of his past or fight for a future he never thought possible. Because the girl is special. And forces are descending upon them want nothing more than to control her. I’m always asking questions. The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as… The preachers in the pulpit… Is it really the word or the interpretation? Plus…why are so many people complaining about their legs hurting? I’m Arroe… I am a daily writer. A silent wolf. I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate. I call it The Daily Mess. A chronological walk through an everyday world. Yes, it’s my morning writing. As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later. When a subject arrives, I dig in. It’s still keeping a journal! By doing the research the picture becomes clearer. Verity “Very” Nelson can do it all. She’s student body president, debate club whiz, and first chair clarinetist and can do the most push-ups in one minute in gym class. You could say she’s pretty much the best at everything…Well, almost everything. Everything except math. And it’s not like she doesn’t try. Math just doesn’t make sense in her brain. But it better start soon, or else she can kiss her presidency—and her campaign promises—goodbye. Soon Verity finds herself enrolled in a remedial math class where, despite her best efforts, failure persists. All seems lost until a teacher helps her discover the truth. Verity discovers that her struggles with math go beyond misunderstanding—she has dyscalculia, a learning disability that makes it hard for her brain to understand number-based information and math. Her eventual diagnosis helps her come to a better understanding of herself, and it mirrors author Hope Larson’s own struggles with dyscalculia. As the story progresses, Verity must learn that appearances aren't everything, especially when it comes to seeming like she has it all together. Armed with a new perspective, can Verity pass math, keep her presidency, and make good on her word to the student body she loves so much? Or will her presidency—and perfect reputation—all come crashing down? Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-unplugged-totally-uncut--994165/support .…
Drew Cagle & The Reputation is a high energy, no apologies, national touring rock band from Central Illinois. The band got its name “The Reputation” after Cagle decided to lean into the considerable ridicule he received in the beginning while attempting to perform his original music in a market primarily dominated by cover bands. Driven by his passion for authentic original expression, Cagle set his sights on the surrounding major cities in the Midwest and across the US determined to show the world that greatest rock songs haven’t already been written... After 3 years, Drew Cagle & The Reputation return with a vengeance with the release of their second full length album, Bad Attitude. An eight-song collection of boisterous rock ‘n’ roll, Bad Attitude combines passionate modern songwriting with the bold sound and swagger of the hard rock superstars from the ‘80s. In an album ironically named after a band Cagle’s father performed with in the early '90s, DC&R manages to encapsulate the classic “chip on your shoulder” aggression and natural danger that rock 'n' roll has been missing in recent years. DC&R’s first single, “All Figured Out,” takes dead aim at naysayers who doubted Cagle’s artistic vision. This song calls out the hypocrisy rooted in premature judgements of others in an epic rock 'n' roll fashion. “All Figured Out” clings to the feeling of being counted out and, with a rebellious spirit, aims to inspire the listener to prove their own opposition wrong. The album’s title track features a guest appearance from legendary '80s guitarist and original member of Guns N Roses and LA Guns: Tracii Guns. The guitarist joined the record after a run of shows DC&R did with LA Guns in February 2024. Guns & Cagle seemingly duel between vocals and guitar licks throughout the entire song, highlighting themes of ridicule and anti-conformity in a sleazy sunset strip fashion. Is it the fear of going wrong? The greatest lessons in life are often lost inside hidden away attempts and concepts. It’s time to reopen your heart. Having a choice is a daily gift. " Bruce Vilanch, a storyteller without peer, has written a tell-all . . . on himself! And it's hilarious! He's finally coming clean and owning up to his part in creating some of the worst television of the twentieth century, and that's saying a lot. There's no one like him. As they've been saying since I discovered him as a cub reporter at the Chicago Tribune , when you're in a pinch . . . Get Bruce!" -BETTE MIDLER Bruce Vilanch is known as a go-to comedy writer for award shows, sitcoms, and top-heavy variety specials, but he has also been responsible for quite a few of the worst shows ever put on television-legendarily bad productions. Some of his work lives in infamy- The Star Wars Holiday Special, The Paul Lynde Halloween Special , Rob Lowe dancing with Snow White at the Oscars, and The Brady Bunch Variety Hour . How did these ever seem like a good idea? Well, everyone has screwed up a few times, or had their work screwed up by others. It Seemed Like a Bad Idea at the Time is a lifetime reflection of what Vilanch has experienced, learned, forgotten, dismissed, and embraced in decades of working in show business, specifically the south forty acres known as comedy. It involves very famous people and people who were not very famous but should have been. And it explains to the person in the audience who says to himself, once he has gotten his jaw off the floor, "'How did this ever get made?" Don't we all want to know?
