In 2022, they found a clinical trial using psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) to treat depression. The trial involved one “hero dose” of over five grams, which the speaker described as life-changing, accomplishing what traditional medications could not. They explained that psilocybin works similarly to SSRIs, but more effectively, as seen in its chemical structure. Through the trial, they gained insights about self-compassion and self-forgiveness, and learned about the importance of intention and integration during such experiences. This psilocybin experience helped heal their depression and changed their outlook on life. They coined the term "fear pivot," which refers to when someone avoids pursuing their true passion out of fear or limiting beliefs. Instead of fear pivoting, they now help clients move toward what truly excites them. They emphasize that starting with what you love is more rewarding than making fear-based decisions. In the second half of the transcript, they discuss their journey with psilocybin further, crediting their best friend for introducing them to magic mushrooms. Initially, they experimented with natural remedies and recreational psilocybin but lacked the proper structure. The clinical trial, which was a 15-week process, provided them with a more structured, intentional experience, leading to the healing of their depression. Was Dr. David Imhotep correct? Did the transatlantic slave trade really occur? Are the Moors, Indigenous and Indian Identifiers, and Melanated Individuals right and exact? Dr. Kimya Nuru Dennis provides insight on her concerns that too many of US have fallen victim to inconclusive, partial, and fake information. "I always tell my Black students and Blacks in community events to answer the following: If you claim thousands of years migrating Earth and controlling many continents, EXPLAIN how racial Blacks are colonized for thousands of years by Arab Muslims, for centuries by Europeans, and often minimized by every economic format and every government format in the world. All of this is happening to a people who claim to be the population majority of the world for thousands of years? Such that Black intellectuals such as Harold Cruse constantly BEG us to develop our Inner World? I tell people to answer those questions and examine the factual inconsistencies. Ivan Van Sertima’s book was written while he was a graduate student. He did NOT conduct research to come to conclusions and write the book. Instead, he selected things that fit his beliefs, and he marketed his belief to Blacks in the 1970s who were desperate to find culture and pride. Unfortunately, too many Blacks believed what he wrote in that best-selling book in the 1970s, and too many Blacks believed the nonsense in 2024—despite Blacks such as myself doing presentations, courses, and writings explaining the falsehoods in the book. Exaggerators/liars/scammers are harmful to Black education, politics, and economics. " - Dr. Kimya Nuru Dennis Van Sertima waited 15 years to clarify misunderstandings in less popular publications & his 1990s writings are still critiqued in published writings, interviews, college courses, and on social media. In this episode of Professor Kimya's class, we deal with Black Education... _________________________________________ Blacks should create curriculums, develop and read materials, and do exams within families and communities-collectives. This is how Blacks bring factual (not conspiracy, half-accurate) knowledge into K-12 and into colleges. K-12 and colleges can add to our knowledge but should never be the origins of our knowledge. I created an academic program in 2011, coordinated the program for nine years, created courses and selected course materials based on content and the demographics in authors and reference pages, conducted academic year program evaluations for the academic department to contribute to school accreditation, and assisted the school library with content reviews and determining materials to remain in the library as part of program evaluations and school accreditation. These processes are needed for our people of various socioeconomic statuses to understand as we access more than a century of Black writings, read more, discuss readings more, stop reducing our people to oppressed, and stop wanting schools to teach our history as only enslavement. This is also why I tell our people to stop crying about "banned books" and doing protests when something grabs attention. Instead, become more involved in PTA meetings, consistent correspondence with school staff, interact with teachers unions, and attend more school board meetings—this includes predominantly Black cities. Yes, Black families have jobs, but we are not the only families with jobs, and we cannot be invisible and waiting for schools-politicians/government entities-employers to make improvements for our people. This is the development of Black USA culture and the Black Inner World, as explained by Harold Cruse and illustrated by Black activists, Black teachers, and Black authors, which have been around for more than a century in the USA. This is how Black education connects with Black health and Black economics. July 15 is Maggie Lena Walker's 160th birthday, and Walker is a trailblazer for solutions that connect approaches for our people. It is important to integrate Walker with what is done by everyday Blacks to improve our people—and more published Black works such as Booker T.
