Ever wandered through the misty, evergreen expanses of the Pacific Northwest and felt a shiver down your spine? Embark on a chilling exploration into the haunting landscapes, where beauty intertwines with a history of darkness. We take you from the haunting beauty of the region’s deep forests to the bustling excitement of the Washington State Fair. These tales traverse the eerie forests, dig into the sinister past of serial killers, and reflect on the powerful transformations from deep-set historical trauma to triumphant community celebrations. It's not all macabre, ghostly tales some are of heartwarming successes, like Larry Ball's rise from usher to burger magnate at the Washington State Fair.
But as the laughter of the carnival fades, we'll delve into the sobering history of the fairgrounds in Puyallup as Camp Harmony, an internment camp for Japanese Americans during World War II, and the tragic irony of its name. We’ll contemplate the profound impact art and memorials have in preserving our collective memory in relation to the Tsutakawa Memorial Gates. As we navigate these heavier topics, we're not forgetting to sprinkle in the lighter side of life with a few laughs and the promise of more spine-tingling content to come.
As night falls on Washington State in the Puyallup valley, we share the chilling, unsolved mystery of Misty Copsey's disappearance, a stark reminder of the shadows that lurk in our own backyards. This week as we interpret the Three of Swords in our tarot reading, we reflect on the insights into the chaos of unsolved crimes and the search for clarity in the midst of it all.
Because we believe in balancing the eerie with the endearing, before we say our goodbyes, we can't resist a little levity and some playful banter about our ever-growing collection of creepy people named – all things – Caitlyn. Of course, we’ll finish the episode off as always with a promise of more creepy-ass content in the next episode. So, light a candle or pour yourself some wine, grab your headphones, and maybe even a Caitlyn (or two), and let's indulge in the macabre and the mysterious together. In a place where beauty and horror intertwine every story leaves a mark.

Nestled in the Sierra Nevada mountains, just northeast of Sacramento, Nevada City, CA, is a historic Gold Rush town. Founded in 1849, it was one of the most important mining towns in California—though getting there wasn’t easy, as some early settlers traveled via the same treacherous route as the Donner Party. In this episode, we explore the National Exchange Hotel, a California Historical Landmark that has hosted many notable figures during the Gold Rush Era. Present day, the hotel is known to have some ghostly guests - a glimpse into a business meeting from the past, a lady in white roaming the halls, and a ghostly child seen riding a tricycle. We also step inside Firehouse No. 1, now a museum, where flying cabinet doors, phantom footsteps, and a red-haired woman playing a haunted organ have been reported. Then, we visit the Red Castle Inn, home to the lingering spirit of the Gray Lady, a devoted nanny who still checks on guests—sometimes by gently brushing their forehead while they sleep. Plus, we uncover some creepy history—like the Foreign Miners’ Tax, which unfairly targeted Chinese and Hispanic gold miners—and dive into the wild life of Lola Montez, a fiery performer known for her infamous Spider Dance (yes, it’s connected to tarantulas). Is Nevada City one of the most haunted places in California? Tune in for ghost stories, history, and plenty of spooky fun! Visit our website! Find us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Patreon, & more! On June 30th, 2001, in the quiet town of Hood River, locals would be saddened by the discovery of Eric Tamiyasu’s body in his rural home. But nothing could prepare them for the shocking realization that would come just a day later following his autopsy. He had been shot three times in the head, his body left undisturbed in his bed for nearly a week prior to the gruesome discovery. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing was stolen. It appeared that whoever entered his home that night had one purpose—murder. On the day his body was discovered authorities made an inexplicable decision: they burned Eric’s mattress before determining his cause of death. Whether this was an act of negligence or the intentional destruction of evidence remains a point of controversy. The case, which seemed solvable in its early days, quickly became muddled by speculation, rumors, and lost forensic opportunities. Three main suspects emerged, though some speculate about a potential fourth. A business partner accused of embezzlement. A supposed close friend who knew more than he should have. A sheriff whose involvement in the case raised serious questions. There was even talk of a romantic rivalry, one that could have turned deadly without Eric even realizing. With each revelation, the mystery surrounding Eric’s death seemingly only deepened. Despite being featured on Unsolved Mysteries, no arrests have ever been made, and his family continues to seek justice. Was this a crime of passion, a financial dispute turned deadly, or something even more sinister? As we unravel the timeline, the evidence, and the missteps in the investigation, one thing becomes clear—someone knows the truth about what happened to Eric Tamiyasu. Visit our website! This episode, we delve into the life and crimes of Scott Scurlock, the bank robber who captivated law enforcement, the media, and public in the early 1990s. Known as "Hollywood" for his cinematic disguises & high-stakes escapades. We’ll provide a glimpse into the life of Scott Scurlock, better known as the Hollywood Bandit. Born to a preacher father and special education teacher mother, Scott's early years gave no hint of the dark, adrenaline-fueled, and ultimately, criminal, path that he would later take. We explore Scurlock’s unconventional lifestyle, including the construction of his iconic treehouse hideout deep in forested Olympia, Washington, and his early involvement in manufacturing drugs. His seemingly addictive thirst for adrenaline led him to assemble a team of unlikely accomplices, execute meticulously planned heists, and evade capture for years—all while amassing an admittedly impressive stack of cash. Discover how Scurlock’s double life blurred the lines between villain and antihero. Follow his progression from manufacturing meth to orchestrating over a dozen daring bank robberies, all from his secluded treehouse fortress in the Washington woods. With insider tricks, movie-style prosthetics, and the detailed planning that earned him his Hollywood nickname, Scott’s criminal empire grew both in audacity & creativity. As his life spiraled deeper into chaos, Scott’s exploits caught the attention of the FBI and Seattle PD. You’ll learn about the detailed planning, daring heists, and of course the eventual standoff that sealed his fate. Join us as we uncover the motivations, mistakes, and legacy of one of the most infamous bank robbers in U.S. history. Hollywood’s story isn’t just about money and danger; it’s about psychological unraveling, close calls, and the law enforcement officers determined to bring him to justice. From high-tech police trackers to dramatic shootouts, and a tragic final standoff, this episode offers a comprehensive look at a fascinating figure in true crime (and life, for those that knew him well). If you’re a fan of high-stakes heists, criminal psychology, and stories of cat-and-mouse chases, this episode delivers it all. Memorable Moments: The first heist blunder where a partner accidentally called out Scott’s name. The explosive dye-pack mishap and near misses with law enforcement. The tragic unraveling of Scurlock’s mental health and strained family relationships. Visit our website! Find us on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Patreon, & more! Are you curious—or perhaps a bit wary—of the "D word" (demons)? This episode dives into the fascinating and chilling world of exorcisms , the ritualistic practice of expelling supposed evil spirits. We explore the history of exorcisms, from ancient Mesopotamia to the modern-day Pacific Northwest! We discuss the three stages of possession —infestation, oppression, and possession—and how exorcists differentiate between paranormal activity and a mental heath crisis. And unpack how the fascinating (and sometimes absurd) elements of exorcisms, like blaming Ouija boards, drug use, or the oft-cited trope of "Native American burial grounds," play into possession stories. This episode isn’t just about the sensational aspects of exorcisms—it balances spooky stories, thoughtful insights, and a touch of humor to explore humanity’s age-old battle with the evil. Whether you believe in demons or think it’s all in the mind, we hope this episode leaves you with chills and questions. 🔗 Don’t forget to subscribe, share, and leave a review if you enjoyed this episode!
