I hope that you all had a wonderful Pokémon day!
On February 27, 1996 Pokémon Red and Green were released in Japan and kicked off Poke-mania world wide.
I, Santiago, was one of those kids that was hooked into this franchise since the moment I played my first game.
This is a fun game that I was able to rope Madeline into playing as well and now we're both big fans of Pokémon.
With that being said, The Pokémon Company dropped a Pokémon Direct like they do every year for Pokémon Day.
Some of these Pokémon Directs can be dull, where they just announce updates to already existing games or upcoming events, but they do occasionally drop a trailer for the next game.
Listen to this week's episode as we go over what we saw for this years Direct, what we thought of it, and what we hope to see in the future.
We also tell each other a few lame jokes 😂

Send us a text Hi there Pokémon trainers! Santiago here with another Pokémon of the Week episode. Last week I gave you a total of 9 clues for you and Madeline. Some of these clues were academic based, so if you were able to figure it out, give yourself a huge pat on the back! After a few tries, Madeline was able to correctly guess my Pokémon of the Week. It's: REUNICLUS!! It chose these Pokémon because I think it's really cool and because Gen 5 had a lot of banger designs, I feel as though Reuniclus gets overshadowed by other Pokémon. Also, I graduated from college with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in a biology related field, so I wanted to give some love to the field of biology. This week, Madeline is in charge and she has plenty of good juicy clues for her Pokémon of the Week. If you're tuning in from last week's episode, I bet you're wondering what the answer to POTW 5 is. And the answer is..... *Drum roll*..... UrsaRING! Madeline's initial guess was Ursaluna, but I told her that Luna was not the answer. This had her a little stumped, but she eventually realized it was Ursaring. I chose Ursaring as my POTW because I personally felt that it's been overshadowed by how powerful Ursaluna is in both Pokémon GO and the console games. Teddiursa is a cutie and Ursaluna is the powerhouse, so to me it seems that Ursaring is overlooked and I wanted to give it some love. Fall/Autumn is here and spooky season is almost upon us! Madeline and I love Halloween and so we wanted to do a "spooky" type combination. The Pokémon with this dual type are: - Nuzleaf - Shiftry - Cacturne - Zarude - Meowscarada - Brute Bonnet - Wo Chien This typing is really cool because it has a mythical, a paradox, and a legendary. We found out that we both really like the designs of a lot of these Pokémon. However, they might not have done so well on the competitive side. But that's okay because there have been some outstanding VGC players that really tried to take one of these Pokémon to the World Championship and we applaud them for their efforts. 🫡 Also! We are having a giveaway! Madeline found and purchased a Van Gogh Pikachu, from the Van Gogh event, still fully wrapped. That Pokémon is none other than.......... Articuno!! I picked Articuno because we just got news from Pokémon GO, that the shiny Galarian Birds will be coming to the game. Unlike other legendary Pokémon, these ones will not be in raids, but will be available via your Daily Incense. These incenses last for 15 minutes and will spawn a Pokémon as long as you're walking. Send us a text Hi there Pokémon Trainers, Santiago here! Going forward, Madeline and I will be adding a new type of episode to the podcast known as: Pokémon of the Week! This is nothing new to the fandom of Pokémon, there's other podcasts and social media pages that already do this, but we wanted to jump on the bandwagon as well. We will still be doing Fusion episodes as well as Freeform episodes, those are not going away, I just wanted to add something new. These Pokémon of the Week, or POTW for short, episodes will be a lot shorter than the other two. Madeline and I will ask each other questions pertaining to 1 specific Pokémon, and we will try to make them as vague as possible for each other. These questions can be stuff you could find on Bulbapedia, or it could also have tie-ins to the real world! Once we're done asking questions, we will not reveal who the Pokémon is until the NEXT episode. So you'll have to stay tuned to each POTW episode to find out if you were right or not. Send us a text Hi there Pokémon Trainers! Madeline and I are still alive! Woo! Just to recap where we've been, we went to Belize for a week (it was incredible), and then came back home and almost immediately got sick. 🤢 Our Belize trip was incredible! We spent half of it on the coast where we were able to get a lot of regional Pokémon in Pokémon GO, including Heracross , Corsola , Maractus , aaaaaaand HAWLUCHA !! I'm a big fan of Hawlucha because it's based on masked Mexican wrestlers. Growing up, I watched a lot of lucha libre with my dad and uncles and I loved it from the moment I first saw it. From then I got into WWE, and I've been keeping up with the product ever since. So when Hawlucha came to Pokémon GO, I knew that I had to get one, but was disappointed when I found out that it would be a regional. But now we have some and I couldn't be any happier! While we were in Belize we also took a guided tour of a Mayan cave. It was crazy cool! This cave is a protected area and very few people can go in per day, and you need a certified guide who can navigate you through the cave. We were unfortunately not able to bring any cameras with us, but it was still an incredible experience that we will remember forever. After our trip we came back home and everything was fine for the first few days back. I even went back to work! Then, not even a week back, we BOTH got sick! It was horrible. We couldn't keep anything down, we had no appetite, and we both lost weight. We went to the Dr's and were put on antibiotics, which definitely helped, but then that came with its own problems. Anyways! Long story short, took a trip, came back home and got sick. Now we're doing fine! Oh! Also, the publisher of the Pokemon Crossroads blog got in touch with us and they want to feature us during their July Pokemon Podcasts page. Send us a text Hi there everyone! Update! Madeline finished her 1st year of nursing school and she did so well! One year left and she'll be certified Nurse Joy. Santiago is still working and currently applying to PA schools and it is stressing him out, so send him luck and good vibes if you can. We recently celebrated our dog's, Apollo, one year gotcha day. If you follow us on Instagram you might have seen him in a post or two. We love our boy and we can't wait to spend many more years with him. With that being said, we wanted to make a tier list with all of the dog and other canine-like Pokémon. We like doing tier lists and this one was fun. Madeline voiced her opinion on a certain dog Pokémon that Santiago was not aware of. Santiago had strong opinions on a particular royal dog.
