About Our Guest:
Dr. Maurice Washington is a native of Prince George’s County, MD. He attended North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University as an undergraduate, earning a B.S. in Biological Engineering. He then matriculated to Pennsylvania State University, earning a M.S. in Agricultural & Biological Engineering. Following his time at Penn State, Dr. Washington obtained his Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering doctorate from Iowa State University in August 2017. His doctoral research focused on the fate and transport of pesticides and antibiotics in agricultural watersheds.
After completing graduate school, he worked for California Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the North Coast Water Quality Control Board as a Water Resource Control Engineer (WRCE), gaining experience in the Cannabis Regulatory Unit and implementing statewide cannabis policy to protect water quality. At his next stop, he worked for Leyton USA as their Agricultural Technical Consultant, serving as a technical expert for all agricultural-related projects and supporting clients with their R&D Tax credits.
Dr. Washington works for Trinchero Family Estates (TFE) as their Agricultural Water Resource Engineer. TFE is the world’s second-largest family-owned wine company and the fourth-largest wine company overall. At TFE, he’s responsible for developing, improving, and establishing agricultural water regulatory compliance strategies and managing agricultural water infrastructure to ensure local and state compliance and sustainability across all TFE ranches. Dr. Washington works with the vineyard team providing technical expertise and guidance to senior management related to agricultural water.
