You’ve spent your whole life feeling like something’s wrong with you. Here’s a radical thought: what if you’re not broken - just different? Welcome to Different, Not Broken, the no-filter, emotionally intelligent, occasionally sweary podcast that challenges the idea that we all have to fit inside neat little boxes to be acceptable. Hosted by L2 (aka Lauren Howard), founder of LBee Health, this show dives into the real, raw and ridiculous sides of being neurodivergent, introverted, chronically underestimated - and still completely worthy. Expect deeply honest conversations about identity, autism, ADHD, gender, work, grief, anxiety and everything in between. There’ll be tears, dead dad jokes, side quests, and a whole lot of swearing. Whether you're neurodivergent, neurotypical, or just human and tired of pretending to be someone you’re not, this space is for you. Come for the chaos. Stay for the catharsis. Linger for the dead Dad jokes.

Why can't the pharmacist use their knowledge of medications, easy to diagnose tools and even patient specific information to provide a cost effective option for patients without sending them away to other very expensive options, or even cause them to not get care at all? Here is the article Dr. Lott wrote for Crain's Chicago: https://www.chicagobusiness.com/opinion/illinois-can-save-millions-making-meds-over-counter Here is the company he helped start to answer this simple, yet currently complex, question in healthcare: https://www.scripted.co/…

Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, two pharmacists were researching working conditions in pharmacy. While they largely found that working conditions across the field of pharmacy were not good, it was really bad in chain pharmacies. Now this is coming to a head as many chain pharmacies can't find staff and are doing everything they can to bring on new people, with little impact. Dr. Jenny Beal and Dr. Mercedes Clabaugh authored the research paper, "Perceptions of working conditions and safety concerns in community pharmacy" and did an amazing job! So much so that the American Pharmacists Association published in in their publication, Journal of the American Pharmacists Association. This track is the entirety of the Supreme Court Audio (as released) covering the case of Rutledge v. Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA). This case will be nothing short of monumental for pharmacy and prescription drug prices, no matter which way it goes! I can not stress that enough. I'm personally hoping the ruling goes for Rutledge as I know this will drop drug prices, increase transparency and allow pharmacists in the community to really be allowed to have more time to work with patients and make bigger impacts in their lives and out of pocket healthcare costs. We've all heard the term "essential employees", but what does that mean? Peter Kreckel sits down to discuss what he believes this means, as a follow up to his article that was recently published in Drug Topics. Kreckel has been a pharmacist since the early 80's and is still a loud voice in the profession and opens quite the can of worms here as to who he thinks is, at least in part, to blame. Narcan (Naloxone) seems to always be making the news. Dr. Dan Arendt sits down with me to discuss how he is working with his state board to make this process easier to document for pharmacists, which will hopefully lead to pharmacists using their status as providers, in Ohio. Dr. Arendt brings up some great points here about stigma, access and more. There is an Easter Egg at the end where you can comment and actually make a difference as well! Drug prices have always made headlines, but recently 340B has come under a lot of scrutiny from a few different angles. Dr. Logan Yoho sits down with me to discuss what 340B drug pricing is, how it works, who it benefits and some of the recent political discussion that has sprung up around it. We talk about big Pharma's tactics to halt it, PBMs trying to game the system (more than they usually do) and also ways that Dr. Yoho has used the programs in the times of COVID to really help make a difference in the lives of the patients his pharmacy serves. Moments after Ohio Governor Mike Dewine signed Ohio House Bill 203 into law, Representative Scott Lipps joined me to discuss this bill he sponsored and why he thinks pharmacy and pharmacists are so important to the healthcare that he worked to expand what we can do for our patients. Representative Lipps has been a huge advocate for helping push pharmacy forward and fight against PBMs. He even discusses why he thinks pharmacy is a a bipartisan issue where common ground can be found to improve our healthcare in this country for all. I personally have met Representative Lipps and really love hearing him speak about the impact pharmacists can have on patients and in healthcare and highly encourage you to follow him and what he has done, especially with bills like Ohio HB 203! https://www.legislature.ohio.gov/legislation/legislation-summary?id=GA133-HB-203 http://ohiohouse.gov/p-scott-lipps Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/scottlippsforstaterep/ Twitter: @LippsForOhio…
Dr. Victoria Reinhartz, CEO of Mobile Health Consultants, Inc, joins me to discuss what she has done to help change pharmacy and how healthcare is delivered to patients in Manatee County, Florida. Dr. Reinhartz has truly pioneered a new way for pharmacists to deliver healthcare to people in a way that saves state and federal programs millions of dollars in an easy to implement fashion. I truly love what Dr. Reinhartz is doing and the way she is working to change healthcare for everyone! In pharmacy, we often try to focus on getting our fellow pharmacists active and involved. Many times patient advocates can be just as effective in helping our cause because they understand what we do for them, sometimes better than we do. State Representative Randi Clites (Ohio District 75) joins me on this episode to discuss how she went from being a strong patient advocate to being elected to represent her district in the Ohio House of Representatives. Rep. Clites has been a strong voice for patients and pharmacy during her time in the legislature and is one of the candidates I really enjoy following because of her work to make healthcare better for everyone in her state. Brennen Hodge, now CEO of Citizen Health, discusses with me a major case of fraud in pharmacy that is now settled in Mississippi. He shares with me what he saw, how some of his work was used in this and how the PBMs use this software to maximize profit at the expense of patients. We do a bit of a deep dive here and see just how much analytics they can use to ensure they are squeezing every penny out of our healthcare system for their own bottom line. This was a very eye opening episode for me and I thoroughly enjoyed this discussion around the bad actors and insight Mr. Hodge provided.…

This episode has two guests who are both very knowledgeable in the areas that were discussed in the controversial "America's Frontline Doctors" video that Breitbart released a little over a week ago. My first guest is Stephanie Itibrout, a teacher and friend of mine, who has been following the school debate closely and even helping to plan for the return of children to her high school. Dr. Neal Smoller, holisitic pharmacist and owner of Woodstock Vitamins and Village Apothecary, also joins me to discuss the realm of pseudoscience and poor trials around hydroxychloroquine that these "doctors" openly advocate for.…
In this episode, Mark Cuker is our guest and explains how he has been working with 700 independent pharmacies to rectify illegal and shady pricing games that they have been bullied into by one specific major player in the pharmacy benefits industry. Mark Cuker is working to fight that and right this egregious wrong that has been costing Americans billions of dollars, while hurting consumer choice and running many small businesses out.…
This episode is one that is near and dear to my heart. The story behind Kevin's Law starts in my home county in Ohio, where Kevin Houdeshell tragically lost his life because there were laws that prohibited pharmacists from being able to dispense a life saving medication, in this case insulin. My guest today is Dan Houdeshell, also known as Kevin's father. Dan has been a great patient advocate who has helped get Kevin's Law passed in numerous states. If this law isn't in your state, please reach out to Dan or myself for more information so we can help you get it in your state. Laws like this are vital until pharmacists get provider status, and in some cases even with that in place. Dr. Ken Thai, Immediate Past President of California Pharmacists Association, joins me to discuss the "No Pharmacist Left Alone" law in California. This law is super important to help stop and minimize the issues with lack of staffing at chain pharmacies, which we have all seen grow over the past several years. Recently, UnitedHealth Insurance decided to mail 200,000 patients at home COVID tests and generic Tamiflu. While this may seem like a good idea, this can cause several issues for the patient. Some of those issues include a lack of continuity of care, as well as them not being able to get a replacement if the medication is lost (at home or in the mail) since many insurances limit how often they cover oseltamivir to once every 180 days. This all begs the question, why can't pharmacists be able to test for the flu? Provider status aside, this is something that we should be able to due to limit the spread of flu and COVID.
