Impression share is one of the most important metric you should be measuring to understand if increasing your bid or budget might reach more people. Google Shopping impression share is the percentage of impressions that your Google ads receive compared to the overall impressions that your ads could get.

To calculate impression share, you use the formula: Impression share = impressions / total eligible impressions

Eligible impressions are evaluated by many factors, including quality, approval statuses, and targeting settings. A good way to understand impression share better is to think of a billboard on the highway and a bunch of people driving past it on their way to work. How many people that drove past it actually look up and see the billboard?

For example, there are 10 people who drove past the billboard (eligible impressions), but only 8 looked up and saw it (impressions). That means you impression share is 8 out 10 (8/10) which is 80%. This is also true with Google search impression share. If 10 people searches using a keyword and your add only showed up 8 times out of those 10 searches, your impression share is 80%. But how how do you get those extra two impressions?
