017: Designing a Career of Purpose, Mission and Impact
Manage episode 286884816 series 2615177
In this episode of the Soul Career podcast, I interview my friend and mentor Yasmina Zaidman.
Yasmina Zaidman’s life proves that you can have a fulfilling career in the impact space. She is the Chief Partnerships Officer at Acumen - a global nonprofit organization that changes the way the world tackles poverty, by investing patient capital in early-stage businesses whose products and services are enabling the poor to transform their lives. She was also my first official mentor. We met when I sat next to her at dinner at a conference in October 2017. We hit it off immediately and she offered to mentor me as I had just received the offer to become the new CEO of the Branson Centre. Since then, she’s become my mentor and friend, we jump on Zoom calls, and meet up in person whenever I’m in New York.
Here’s a summary of what we cover:
1. Her role and why she still loves working at Acumen
2. The effect the COVID-19 pandemic has had on the world of mission, impact and philanthropy
3. Her tips for people who are interested in transitioning to careers in the world of philanthropy, mission and impact.
