Dr. Chung completed his general surgery training at the University of Texas in San Antonio and his plastic surgery training at the University of Michigan, followed by a hand surgery fellowship at the Curtis National Hand Center in Baltimore, Maryland. He was a prior President of the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, a prior Plastic Surgery Foundation President, and a prior director of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, among many other impressive committee appointments and leadership positions. He has published over 850 peer reviewed papers and over 550 book chapters in addition to being the editor of many textbooks that trainees and young plastic surgeons use very regularly. He has also maintained continuous NIH funding for over 20 years studying a variety of impactful topics including outcomes in hand surgery.
