What makes some people supercommunicators? How can you become one too? This is the central lesson in Charles Duhigg’s bestseller Supercommunicators: How to Unlock the Secret of Communication. Charles and Chris dissect what makes messy conversations so great, how to ask deep questions, and whether women and men communicate differently. They also discuss the different rules for different technologies — from telephones to Facebook to Signal — and how cautious politeness may be the best method to communicate effectively online. In this episode of Amy Talks, I speak to writer and actor Rick Karatas (although he likes to be called Sudi) about his book 'Rainbow Relatives'. This book teaches young children about LGBT+ families, so as they grow up they can be more aware of the family setups around them. I ask him about negative reactions to the book, what children can learn and why the younger people are more open and accepting than other generations. Sorry it's quite late in being released, but I had extra interviews to do, and it just wouldn't be the same without them! It's time for the annual look-back at 2019's Amy Talks guests and catching up with them, seeing how their 2019 has been. Take a listen to see what they had to say in answer to my tough questions. Also hear clips from previous interviews, some you might not have heard before. 71% of you voted in favour for it on Twitter, so the ayes have it! Here's the General Election special of 2019, allowing me to indulge in my love of politics for one episode only. I discuss the election result and what this means for Brexit and the Labour Party. I also offer a great insight into what it's like to count votes, and it's not as simple as it seems (believe me!).
