Key Discussions: 📍 1. The Power of Client Retention : We explored the Client Flow Movement with Filip Sardi, delving into how focusing on making just 5% of your existing clients happier can double your business. This counterintuitive approach highlights the potential in nurturing existing relationships. 📍 2. Simplifying Retention Strategies : Filip shared his journey from tracking 30 different KPIs to focusing on a few essential metrics. We discussed the importance of identifying "micro-wins" and creating a structured approach to better support clients and enhance their experience. 📍 3. The Underrated Offboarding Process : Often overlooked, the offboarding process is crucial for leaving a lasting positive impression. We touched on the value of creating a personalized plan for clients even after their program ends, leading to increased retention rates. 3 Actionable Takeaways inspired by Filip's Final Suggestions: 👉 1. Reflect on Your Emotional Upgrade Path : Consider how you can offer upgrades and upsells that meet your clients where they are in their journey, rather than pushing automated offers. (Inspired by Filip's discussion on the Emotional Upgrade Path) 👉 2. Simplify Your Tracking Metrics : Identify the few key performance indicators that truly matter for your business and client satisfaction. Avoid overwhelming yourself and your team with too many vanity metrics. (Reflecting on Filip's experience with streamlining KPIs) 👉 3. If you're an entrepreneur, consultant, or business owner, the way you network, build your brand, and scale your business can define your long-term success. This episode of Building Your Leader Brand features Ivan Misner, the founder of BNI (Business Network International), who shares his journey from starting a local networking group in his garage to building a global enterprise with over 11,300 chapters in 75 countries. Whether you're looking to grow your business, refine your personal brand, or leave a lasting legacy, Ivan's experiences and strategies offer practical insights you can apply immediately. Three Key Areas Discussed 🔑 1. The Power of Networking in Scaling Your Business Ivan emphasizes the importance of building relationships, both locally and globally. He shares how BNI's platform, BNI Connect, allows members to leverage a worldwide network. If you're struggling to expand your reach, this section is a masterclass in using networking as a growth tool. 🧠 2. Finding Your Flame vs. Working in Your Wax Ivan introduces the concept of working in your "flame" (what energizes you) versus your "wax" (what drains you). He explains how identifying and focusing on your flame can transform your business and personal fulfillment. This is especially relevant if you're feeling stuck or burnt out. 📚 3. Leaving an Intentional Legacy Legacy isn't just about money-it's about the impact you have on others. Ivan discusses the importance of values, behaviours, and the relationships you build. His book, Infinite Legacy, dives into how you can leave an intentional legacy that lasts far beyond your business accomplishments. Three Actionable Takeaways from Ivan's Advice 🚀 1. Focus on Six Things a Thousand Times Instead of chasing a thousand strategies, pick six key actions and master them. Consistency, not complexity, is the secret to scaling your business. Start by identifying the activities that drive the most value and double down on them. 🔥 2. Seek People Who Resonate with Your Values When building your team or network, prioritize values alignment over skill alone. Ivan's metaphor of resonance-like two pianos humming in harmony-illustrates the power of surrounding yourself with people who amplify your energy and vision. 📊 3. Plan for the Next Phase of Your Business Whether you're scaling, selling, or stepping back, having a clear plan is essential. Ivan's experience transitioning from "King Arthur" (leading the charge) to "Colonel Sanders" (being the face of the brand) offers lessons in intentional leadership and succession planning. The strategies Ivan shares aren't just for business owners-they're for anyone looking to build meaningful connections, amplify their impact, and create a legacy that matters. If you're ready to take your personal brand or business to the next level, this episode is a must-listen. If you’re running a business - whether it’s consulting, coaching, or any service-based venture - you’ve likely hit a point where growth feels stagnant. You’re stuck in the “me + 3” trap: you and a small team, unable to scale further without burning out. This episode is for you. Ryan Wimpey, founder of a successful franchise with 24 locations across the US, shares his journey from a one-person operation to a thriving, scalable business. His insights on systems, franchising, and scaling are invaluable for anyone looking to break through their growth ceiling. 🎙️ Key Takeaways from the Episode 1️⃣ Systems Are Non-Negotiable Ryan emphasises that without systems, your business will always rely on you. Whether you’re running a single location or planning to franchise, having clear workflows, scripts, and processes is essential. It’s the only way to delegate effectively and step away without everything falling apart. 2️⃣ Franchising Is About More Than Just Expansion Franchising isn’t just a way to grow—it’s a way to empower others. Ryan’s approach focuses on giving franchisees the tools and support they need to succeed, from call centre operations to marketing. It’s about creating a model that works whether you’re there or not. 3️⃣ Maximise Your Digital Ads Ryan’s aggressive approach to digital marketing—SEO, Google Ads, and social media—has been a game-changer for his business. He stresses the importance of maximising ad spend on one platform before moving to the next, ensuring you’re not leaving money on the table. 🛠️ Actionable Steps You Can Take Today 1️⃣ Audit Your Systems Can you step away from your business for a month without it collapsing? If not, start documenting your processes. Create workflows, scripts, and training manuals to ensure your team can operate independently. 2️⃣ Focus on High-Value Clients Stop targeting low-income customers if your business relies on higher margins. Ryan’s experience shows that selling to clients with disposable income not only increases revenue but also reduces emotional friction in the sales process. 3️⃣ Experiment and Iterate Don’t wait for the perfect plan. Use the “ready, fire, aim” approach to test your ideas quickly. Learn from what works, refine your processes, and scale what’s successful. Ryan’s story is a testament to the power of systems, strategic scaling, and relentless focus on customer value. Whether you’re considering franchising or just looking to grow your business, his advice is a roadmap to breaking through the “me + 3” barrier. 📌 Listen to the full episode for more insights and actionable strategies. As a business owner, coach, or consultant, you're likely no stranger to the importance of building a strong relationship with your audience. However, are you leveraging the most effective tool in your arsenal to nurture these relationships and drive sales? Email marketing, when done correctly, can be the game-changer your business needs. In this episode of Building Your Leader Brand, Bob sits down with Kennedy from Email Marketing Heroes to debunk common misconceptions, discuss best practices, and reveal the secrets to making email marketing work for you. Three Key Takeaways: 📝 Frequency Matters : Emailing your list at least three times a week can lead to better deliverability, increased engagement, and faster results. Don't be afraid to show up regularly in your audience's inbox. 🔍 Proof Over Claims : In a world where trust is scarce, it's essential to "Say it, Prove it" (SIPI) in your marketing efforts. Back up your claims with evidence to build credibility and win over your audience. 📈 Set Clear Expectations : Communicate your email frequency and content upfront to avoid surprising your subscribers. Set the tone from the start, and they'll look forward to hearing from you. Three Actionable Steps Based on Kennedy's "Three Things" Read "Ready, Fire, Aim" by Michael Masterson : Apply the principles from this book to your business, focusing on the section relevant to your current turnover. Implement the "Say it, Prove it" (SIPI) Principle : Review your current marketing materials and add proof to support your claims. Update your website, emails, and social media content to build trust with your audience. Set Email Frequency Expectations : Revise your lead magnet and welcome email to clearly communicate how often you'll be emailing your subscribers. Use Kennedy's example as a template: "…you'll get my daily/weekly email tips straight to your inbox for free." https://emailmarketingheroes.com/ ---- Get your copy of my Personal Brand Business Blueprint It's the FREE roadmap to starting, scaling or just fixing your expert business. www.amplifyme.agency/roadmap ---- Subscribe to my Youtube!! Let’s face it - even the most confident among us have felt that stomach-churning fear before speaking in public. Whether it’s a podcast interview, a presentation, or even just pitching an idea in a meeting, that “oh no, what if I mess up?” feeling is universal . But here’s the good news: overcoming that fear doesn’t just make you a better speaker - it positions you for bigger opportunities, from landing clients to building authority in your industry. In this episode, I’m joined by Nausheen Chen, a public speaking coach, to share how you can turn those nerves into impact and amplify your message with confidence. Three Key Takeaways: 🔹 Less is More : Trying to say too much can dilute your message. Focus on being selective with what you share and create a flowing, interactive conversation with your audience. 🔹 Intentional Energy Matters : It’s not about mimicking Tony Robbins or going over the top—it’s about amplifying your natural self. Use your voice, energy, and body language to connect authentically. 🔹 Maximise Every Opportunity : Speaking isn’t just about the moment on stage or screen. Learn how to prepare strategically, network effectively, and follow up thoughtfully to turn visibility into meaningful results. Take Action Based on Nausheen’s Final Tips: Here’s a simple three-step process to start improving your speaking skills today: Record Yourself : Grab your phone, record a one-minute clip of yourself speaking on a topic you know well, and watch it back. (Yes, it’s cringe-worthy, but so is most of life—embrace it!) Separate yourself from the performance to identify areas for growth. Leverage AI Tools : Use platforms like Yoodli to analyze your recording. Get data on your pace, filler words, and eye contact to pinpoint specific improvements. Iterate and Improve : Re-record with one focus in mind - like slowing your pace or using fewer fillers. This iterative process builds confidence and control over your delivery. Breaking through the fear of speaking doesn’t just make you better at talking—it opens doors. Whether it’s commanding a room, winning over clients, or positioning yourself as a thought leader, the ability to communicate effectively is a superpower. So, let’s get started—because the world is waiting to hear what you have to say. Today's discussion with Mike Morrison is indispensable for anyone eager to scale their influence and create sustainable revenue streams through membership models. Whether you're an emerging consultant feeling oversubscribed or a seasoned expert exploring new revenue avenues, understanding when and how to transition into a membership model can be transformative. 🎯 Key Discussions: Building Before Monetizing : Mike emphasizes the critical importance of establishing a strong foundation of followers before jumping into monetization through memberships. He advises on harnessing tools like podcasting and content creation to build a personal brand and audience who are genuinely aligned with your expertise. Signals for Scaling : If you're turning away more clients than you can accept or noticing repeated demands for similar advice, it might be time to explore memberships. Mike provides insights on recognizing these signals and using them to transition effectively. Purpose-Driven Memberships : Mike highlights the necessity of identifying the genuine needs and problems of your audience before deciding on a membership model. Not every problem can or should be solved through memberships; form must follow function. 🔑 Actionable Takeaways: Audience Development : Before seeking monetization, evaluate your audience size. A minimum of 300 engaged followers should provide a good base to begin exploring membership options. Recognize Demand : Pay attention to patterns in client requests. If you're oversubscribed or finding commonalities in client needs, it might be time to think bigger about how to serve more effectively. In today's episode, I spoke with Andy Storch, an author, keynote speaker, consultant, and trainer who helps professionals in large companies own their careers and prepare for the future. As someone who transitioned from corporate consulting to entrepreneurship, Andy shares his journey of building multiple successful ventures including his book "Own Your Career, Own Your Life," his speaking business, and the Talent Development Think Tank conference and community. This conversation couldn't come at a better time for you, my audience of consultants, coaches, and experts building your businesses. As AI tools make certain aspects of our work more automated, Andy highlights why human connections and personal branding are becoming even more valuable currencies in today's marketplace. Three Key Takeaways You Can Apply Today: ✅ Commit to consistent sales activities - The most successful consultants maintain regular sales efforts regardless of how busy they get with client work. Set up a simple system to reach out, follow up, and stay in regular contact with prospects, understanding that in the corporate world, sales cycles often take 3-6 months. ✅ Build around your strengths - Take time to identify what you excel at and enjoy, then structure your business to leverage those strengths. Andy learned to focus on his speaking and facilitation talents while delegating project management tasks that didn't align with his skills. ✅ Use tools to stay organized - Implement systems like Notion to keep your contacts, sales activities, and communications organized in one searchable place. Consider hiring a virtual assistant to handle lower-value tasks so you can focus on high-value activities like sales and client delivery. Andy's Three Steps for Future Success: 🔑 Invest in continuous learning - Never feel like you've got it all figured out. Adopt a beginner's mindset and continuously seek ways to improve your skills and knowledge. The days of getting a degree and working in that field for 40 years are over - we need to be learning all the time. 🔑 Build your network - Nothing is more impactful for career and business growth than building relationships with different types of people. As technology automates more tasks, human-to-human connections become increasingly valuable. Challenge yourself to connect with at least two new people each week. 🔑 Build your personal brand - Be intentional about your reputation by asking: "What do I want to be known for?" Then regularly check if you're acting in alignment with that desired reputation. Use this to guide both your business decisions and the content you create. Remember, in Andy's words: "As the world becomes more automated and technology is doing more and more things, it's going to be those human-to-human connections that become more and more valuable." In this episode, I sit down with my good friends Alex Curtis and Pete Everitt to explore how we're each using AI tools in our businesses. While many people are still figuring out what to do with these powerful new tools, we share practical examples that you can implement right away. AI isn't about replacing people but empowering good people to work more efficiently. For entrepreneurs, consultants, and service providers, these tools can dramatically improve how you serve clients and grow your business. 🔧 Key AI Applications We Discussed Email Management: Using ChatGPT to rewrite emotional responses into professional, direct messages that get results Content Creation & Repurposing: Leveraging tools like Claude AI, CapCut, and Descript to create and repurpose content efficiently Client Service Enhancement: Setting up automations with Fathom for meeting recordings, transcriptions, and AI summaries to provide elevated service Lead Generation: Creating smart workflows with Zapier that process podcast guests through AI to build targeted networks Data Analysis: Using AI to process large datasets for SEO planning, client onboarding, and marketing decisions 💡 Actionable Takeaways Set up an AI workflow to process your emotional communications - When you receive frustrating emails or messages, use ChatGPT or Claude to transform your initial heated response into something professional and effective. Try the "Word Jenga" technique to make your messages clear and concise. Create a system for meeting follow-up - Use tools like Fathom to record and transcribe client meetings, then connect it with Zapier and Notion to organize your commitments and follow-ups. This dramatically improves client service and helps you stay on top of promises. 1 Write Your Way to Premium Clients: The Minimalist Approach to Book-Based Marketing, with Anita Henderson 46:35
In this episode, I had the pleasure of speaking with Anita Henderson, known as "The Author's Midwife," who coaches entrepreneurs and C-suite executives to write, publish, and leverage books as powerful marketing tools. As business owners, we often hear about writing a book but struggle with actually completing one. Whether it's feeling overwhelmed by the process or battling imposter syndrome, many of us keep our book ideas tucked away for years. Anita shared how her clients typically spend 9-12 months crafting their books—far from the "write a book in a weekend" myth—and how a well-crafted book can generate leads and opportunities for years to come. What I found most valuable was Anita's approach to entrepreneurship through her own book, "Becoming the Minimalist Entrepreneur." Her philosophy of clarifying, simplifying, and focusing your business resonated deeply with my observations from hundreds of podcast interviews—true success rarely comes from complexity. 🔑 Key Takeaways: 1 - Clarify, simplify, and focus your business approach. We often complicate our businesses unnecessarily. Instead of trying to do everything, get crystal clear on what you do, who you serve, and how you serve them. When you do something twice, it's part of a process—document it and refine it. 2 - Learn to work inside your comfort zone first. Rather than constantly pushing beyond your comfort zone, perfect your processes and systems within it. Create consistency in how you deliver your services before expanding outward. This creates a solid foundation for sustainable growth. 3 - Make yourself strategically unavailable. Block time away from client calls to think, create, and recharge. Anita blocks one day each week, one week each month, and the last two months of each year—creating both mental space and increased demand for her services. If you're considering writing a book to enhance your leadership brand, remember that nobody else has your unique stories and perspective. Your experiences and insights matter, and the right book can open doors for years to come. About Anita Entrepreneurship wasn’t Anita’s goals list early in her career. She wanted the professional title, the corner office with the window, the assistant right outside her door, the fat paycheck, the expense account, and all the other benefits of corporate success. She got all that, then got burned out. When an unexpected opportunity landed in her lap, she jumped at it. Entrepreneurship called out to her loud and clear. That was more than twenty-five years ago. Since then, she has started two companies (one a partnership), written nine books, and dipped her toe back into corporate a few times before finally retiring from the 9-to-5 more than a decade ago. Anita has also hosted a radio show, an internet TV program, and a podcast. Known as The Author’s Midwife, she now enjoys guiding C-suite execs and seasoned entrepreneurs to write, publish, and leverage their books to position themselves as authorities. As an author coach and book publishing strategist, she shares the secrets to writing and publishing a bestselling and award-worthy book through her Write Your Life Author Coaching Program. She is the author of Becoming the Minimalist Entrepreneur: Lessons Learned From My Journey to Work Less, Earn More, and Play More. Her greatest joy as a business owner is learning from her mistakes and failures. There have been many, which means she’s learned a lot. But the growth and rewards have been instrumental in making her the leader and the minimalist entrepreneur she is today. As leaders and creators in today's digital landscape, we're all facing the same challenging question: How do we stand out when AI can create endless streams of content? In this episode, I speak with marketing legend Mark Schaefer about his groundbreaking new book "Audacious: How Humans Win in an AI Marketing World." If you've ever felt the pressure to be visible online but worried about "adding to the noise," this conversation is essential listening. Mark reveals why being merely competent isn't enough anymore and shares a practical framework for becoming the signal that rises above the noise. Mark brings 40+ years of marketing wisdom to this discussion, having written 11 books including the one that transformed my own business journey. We explore how personal branding serves as career insurance in an AI world and why making genuine human connections will be your ultimate competitive advantage. 🔑 Key Takeaways Competency doesn't create conversations - In an AI world where perfect intelligence is becoming abundant and nearly free, being merely competent puts you at risk. To thrive, you must find ways to ignite uniquely human "fireworks" that create emotional connections your audience wants to talk about. Break the "pandemic of dull" - Every industry has institutionalized boringness through fear, tradition, or perceived risk. Identify where you can thoughtfully break taboos or challenge norms "for good reason" to create content that matters. Remember: audacity doesn't have to be loud or expensive - it just has to make a difference. Build a fear-free environment - Whether leading a team or running your own business, systematically dismantle the fear that prevents bold ideas. Start with small experiments that build credibility, then leverage those wins to create more audacious work. Today's digital tools make testing bold ideas cheaper and less risky than ever before. I'm recommending Mark's book "Audacious" as essential reading for anyone building a personal brand or expert business. It's filled with examples from creative geniuses who've found ways to rise above the noise while staying true to their authentic selves. Remember: "The most human company wins." In every touchpoint with your audience, look for opportunities to show your face, heart, smile, passion, and compassion. 🚀 Three Action Steps from Mark Invest in your personal brand - Working on your personal brand is like investing in an insurance policy for your career. It's your only sustainable competitive advantage. When you're known and your competitors aren't, more doors open, more calls get returned, and more opportunities come your way. Remember: "The most human company wins" - In every customer touchpoint, look for ways to make it more human. Show your face, heart, smile, passion, and compassion in every interaction - from text messages to complaints, from sales meetings to your website. This is especially crucial in the age of AI. Explore "Audacious" - As Mark shared, this book provides a framework to help you transcend the noise. It collects wisdom from some of the world's greatest creative minds on how humans can thrive in an AI marketing world. The book even features an interactive QR code cover that changes each time you scan it! Many of us know we should be more active on LinkedIn, but the thought of putting ourselves out there can feel overwhelming. In this episode, I talk with LinkedIn strategist Nicole Osborne about creating content that connects with potential clients rather than just collecting likes from peers. Nicole shares her framework for creating balanced content and explains why visibility doesn't have to mean perfection. We explore how to shift from random posting to strategic content that helps potential clients get to know, like, and trust you – even if they never engage with your posts. 🎯 Key Takeaways: Review your last 10 posts and make engagement easier by asking simple questions that don't require vulnerability from your audience. Instead of "What's your biggest challenge?" try "Which of these tips resonates most?" Focus your content on potential clients rather than impressing peers. Your posts should speak to the person who was on your last sales call or is considering working with you, not other experts in your field. Share genuine glimpses behind the scenes of your work. The processes and meetings you take for granted can help prospects understand what it's like to work with you and build trust before they reach out. ✨ Three Actions You Can Take Today: Audit your last 10 posts – How easy did you make it for people to engage? Look for ways to simplify your questions and reduce friction in the engagement process. Review who your content is really for – Are you writing for peers or potential clients? Check if your posts speak to the actual challenges and aspirations of your target audience rather than showcasing expertise to colleagues. Add more behind-the-scenes content – Share authentic glimpses of your work processes, team meetings, or business activities that help people understand what it's like to work with you. In this episode, I dive deep into a refreshing conversation about productivity with Grace Marshall, a Productivity Ninja, speaker, and author of multiple books including "Struggle: The Surprising Truth, Beauty, and Opportunity Hidden in Life's Shittier Moments." If you've ever felt overwhelmed by your to-do list or questioned whether you're being "productive enough," this episode will change how you think about productivity. Grace shares her journey from being naturally disorganised to becoming an award-winning speaker and productivity expert, showing that our perceived weaknesses can become our greatest strengths. 🎯 Key Takeaways: Productivity isn't just about getting things done - it's about making space for what matters. Sometimes the work that feels like struggle (the thinking, the wrestling, the figuring things out) is actually your most important work. Success looks different in different seasons. What worked for you a year ago might not be what you need today. Give yourself permission to redefine what productivity means for your current phase. Fear can masquerade as productivity - whether through perfectionism, overworking, or staying "busy" with safe tasks to avoid the challenging ones. Learning to recognize these patterns helps you make better choices. 🔨 Actionable Steps: 1 - Apply the "Three Shifts Model" when facing challenges: Recognise the shift (acknowledge what's happening) What is this shift? (approach with curiosity) Holy shift (look for the revelation or learning) 2 - When feeling irritated, remember that "irritants are catalysts" - they often lead to innovation and growth if we lean into them rather than avoid them. 3 - Review your current productivity patterns to identify if "high-functioning fear" is driving your actions through fight (overworking), flight (strategic avoidance), freeze (productive procrastination), or fawn (excessive people-pleasing) responses. If you've been creating video content without seeing results, or hesitating to start because you're unsure where to begin, this episode is for you. I talk with Ben Amos, author of "Engage: The Definitive Guide to Video Strategy for Business" about transforming your approach to video marketing from aimless content creation to strategic growth driver. Video is no longer optional for business growth - it's the most powerful way to build trust and connect with audiences worldwide. But creating random videos without a framework is like cooking without a recipe. Ben breaks down his proven 7-element strategy that turns video from a confusing expense into a reliable business asset. 🎯 Key Takeaways: Start with OpusClip : Record yourself naturally sharing expertise, then use OpusClip's AI to find compelling segments and add captions. This gives you multiple pieces of content from one recording session. Implement tiered distribution : Structure your content strategy like a pyramid - primary platform (e.g. YouTube) at top, secondary platforms with minimal edits, lead-in teasers driving to main content, and supporting non-video channels amplifying reach. Focus on serving one person : Stop worrying about others in your space. If you can help someone right in front of you, create content for them. Your unique perspective matters. 📚 Resources Mentioned: Engage: The Definitive Guide to Video Strategy for Business (Available on Amazon) Free chapter: engagevideomarketing.com/freechapter OpusClip for video repurposing Connect with Ben: LinkedIn: Ben Amos Instagram: @engage_ben Website: engagevideomarketing.com ---- Get your copy of my Personal Brand Business Blueprint It's the FREE roadmap to starting, scaling or just fixing your expert business. www.amplifyme.agency/roadmap ---- Subscribe to my Youtube!! If you're running a business but struggling to turn your expertise into profit, this episode is for you. Dr. Brenda Hector shares how systematic, proven approaches can transform your business results - even if you think your industry or situation is "different." In this conversation with ActionCOACH franchisee Dr. Brenda Hector, we explore the power of following tested business systems rather than trying to reinvent the wheel. She breaks down why many business owners remain stuck despite having great skills in their field. Three key takeaways: 🔄 Find and follow proven systems - Successful businesses aren't built on constant innovation, but on implementing what's already known to work. Look for established frameworks and processes instead of starting from scratch. 👥 Get accountability - Just like having a gym buddy makes you more likely to work out, having someone to answer to dramatically increases your chances of following through on business improvements. Consider finding a coach, mentor or accountability group. 🎯 Set clear goals - Without a specific destination in mind, you'll struggle to say no to distractions and measure progress. Take time to define exactly what success looks like for your business this year. Want to assess where your business stands? In this episode, I sat down with Al Tepper, founder of Tepfu Marketing and the Lazy Marketing Academy. We explored the fundamentals of sustainable marketing success and why many businesses struggle to see results from their marketing efforts. Al brings over 25 years of experience helping six and seven-figure businesses develop effective marketing strategies. He shared invaluable insights on why businesses need to focus on stability before scaling, the importance of productisation, and why genuine relationships trump quick marketing wins. 🎯 Key Takeaways: 1. Marketing starts with product stability - Without a clearly defined, "productised" offering, even the best marketing efforts will struggle to convert. Before investing heavily in marketing, ensure your product or service is well-defined and consistently deliverable. 2. Short-term wins need long-term strategy - While quick wins are important for building momentum, sustainable growth requires balancing immediate results with long-term brand building. The best time to start marketing is when you don't need it. 3. Relationships drive real growth - In an age of AI-generated content and paid advertising, authentic relationships and genuine service remain the most powerful drivers of business growth. Focus on building genuine connections rather than chasing viral moments. ⚡ Actionable Tips From Al: 1. Try the Grayscale Phone Hack - Set your phone display to grayscale to reduce distractions and boost productivity. This simple change can dramatically decrease how often you get pulled into your device. 2. Read "The Go-Giver" by Bob Burg - This book provides valuable insights on how strategic giving can drive business success and relationship building. 3. Help Others When You're Struggling - When facing challenges, reach out to help someone else. This mindset shift can improve your perspective and create valuable connections. As a leader in your field, building strong relationships and generating referrals is crucial for the growth and success of your business. In this episode, I speak with Bob Burg, the best-selling author of "The Go-Giver" and a master at cultivating win-win relationships. Bob shares his insights on: 🎯 Shifting your focus from getting to giving and providing immense value to others 🌈 Creating a benevolent context for your success by building a network of people who know, like, and trust you 🌉 Using the "referral bridge" technique to comfortably ask for referrals Key Takeaways: 📝 Script your referral ask until it becomes natural and authentic. Practice makes perfect! 🔍 Research and listen to understand what your clients and network truly value . Don't assume everyone values the same things you do. 🎁 Focus on consistently providing value to others without attachment to what you'll receive in return. Trust that good things will happen as a result. About Bob Burg For more than 30 years Bob Burg has been successfully helping entrepreneurs, leaders, and sales professionals to build relationships, communicate their value, and accelerate their business growth. Although for years he was best known for his sales classic, Endless Referrals, it’s his business parable, The Go-Giver, coauthored with John David Mann, that has created a worldwide movement. As leaders and business owners, we've all encountered people, whether our team, clients or people in our network, who repeatedly ask for advice but never take action - the "Ask Holes." In this episode of Building your LeaderBrand, leadership expert Kerry Burchill breaks down how these behaviors impact organizations and shares practical strategies for getting unstuck. Whether you're leading teams, running a consulting practice, or building client relationships, understanding how to identify and address Ask Hole behaviors is crucial for driving real progress and avoiding frustration. Three Key Takeaways: 🎯 Practice active listening before jumping to solutions. When clients or team members share challenges, resist the urge to immediately offer fixes. Give them space to fully articulate their situation and come to their own realizations about what needs to change. 🎯 Get voice-of-customer feedback directly from the source. Have your clients or team members gather input from the people they serve rather than making assumptions. This creates natural buy-in and surfaces unexpected insights. 🎯 Trust that you're already "the whole package." Don't let the pursuit of endless certifications or perfect systems stop you from taking action. Your existing experience and expertise are likely more than enough to start making an impact. About Kerri It's a fast-paced world and we all get caught in the day-to-day spin. Kerri helps leaders and teams slow down, get clear on their True North and develop a synergy to achieve ambitious goals. Slowing down might look like 1:1 coaching, leadership development, team development, training, or a multitude of other support tailored to your situation. Kerri has been fortunate to have worked in three countries and with a variety of fields, including: education, healthcare, manufacturing, recruitment, real estate, and financial investment. In all of these experiences, there is one theme: when adults work together, teams thrive and success increases. She has an interesting story about what took to these countries, but I’ll leave that to her to explain. Kerri has over 15 years of academic training and 25 years of people development. Ever notice how the most brilliant experts often remain hidden in plain sight? 💡 Here's a mind-bender: what if the thing holding back your business isn't your expertise or strategy, but simply your relationship with being seen? In this episode, I speak with Linda Ugelow, author of "Delight in the Limelight" about transforming that fear of visibility into genuine confidence. Linda shares her own journey of overcoming decades of speaking anxiety despite being comfortable performing dance on stage. Her story demonstrates how our relationship with visibility is often rooted in past experiences rather than present reality. What fascinates me is how Linda approaches this transformation - not through "managing" fear with breathing exercises and affirmations, but by actually removing the fear at its source. This resonates with my own journey from avoiding visibility to embracing it as a crucial part of building authority. Three key takeaways that you can implement today: 🎯 Start with private practice before going public. Create daily "captain's log" style videos just for yourself to normalize being on camera without the pressure of an audience. This builds genuine comfort with video presence before tackling the separate challenge of sharing content. 🎬 When recording content, focus on connecting with your "right-fit" third rather than trying to please everyone. Recognize that roughly one-third of people will naturally resonate with your authentic style - these are the ones worth showing up for. 🔍 Watch yourself back with curiosity rather than criticism. Look for what you like and appreciate about your presence. This shifts your relationship with self-expression from judgment to growth and makes rapid improvement possible. Linda's perspective adds an important dimension to my work helping experts build visibility and authority. Her framework shows how addressing the psychological barriers to visibility often matters more than technical speaking skills or content strategy. Let me know if this episode resonates with your own visibility journey. What's your biggest challenge when it comes to showing up more boldly in your business? About Linda, Linda Ugelow (YOU-guh-lo) is a speaking confidence coach, podcast host, and author of the book, Delight in the Limelight: Overcome Your Fear of Being Seen and Realize Your Dreams and hosts a podcast of the same name. Many people feel they’re not creative. They’re wrong - they just need to understand how to harness it. Having rapid access to your own creativity can transform your business - so how do we make it happen? This week on ‘Building your LeaderBrand’ spoke with Julie Stout, an entrepreneur and marketing agency owner who has spent 23 years in business. Julie shared powerful insights into developing creativity as a business skill and how to blend creative approaches with technical execution. Drawing from her experience in manufacturing and B2B sectors, Julie reveals practical methods for unlocking creative thinking in even the most analytical environments. Three Key 🔥 Takeaways: ⏰ Start your creativity practice with just 2 minutes daily - Julie recommends setting a timer and practicing non-judgmental brainstorming, particularly right after a shower when your mind is most receptive. This builds your connection to creative flow and strengthens your ability to generate ideas on demand. ⏰ Allow ideas to emerge over time - Like artists developing concepts through multiple sketches, business ideas don't need to arrive fully formed. Julie emphasizes the value of viewing "failures" as building blocks, letting solutions develop organically through iteration rather than demanding instant perfection. ⏰ Set up your mind for solutions - Before bed, clearly state the problem you want to solve. Your subconscious will work on it overnight, often leading to breakthrough ideas in the morning. This intentional approach to problem-solving helps harness your natural creative abilities. And there is sooo much more. About Julie Creativity coach, consultant, speaker and podcaster. ▶ Helping individuals and businesses move from underdogs to champions to superhero. Mental health problems, just like physical problems, range from a boo boo to a full blown crisis. In this deeply personal episode, Mike Morrison (founder of Membership Geeks) joins me for an honest discussion about mental health in entrepreneurship, sharing his own experience of clinical depression and building a successful online business. 3 Key Takeaways: 1. Create a "zone of peacefulness" around your business by setting clear boundaries and being selective with clients. It's not about being difficult - it's about protecting your mental wellbeing. 2. The gap between your public persona and private reality can create mental strain. Being authentic about your struggles doesn't diminish your brand - it makes you human. 3. Success doesn't eliminate mental health challenges. Even highly successful entrepreneurs deal with imposter syndrome and anxiety. If you run a business then making sure you are front and centre wherever opportunities happen often seems more a matter of luck than design. My business is all about changing that for clients. When I find someone doing smart things which get me excited - I love to share. In this week’s episode I ‘finally’ had the pleasure of chatting with Cheryl Laidlaw, a exceptional web designer and small business AI educator, who shared her secret sauce for mastering AI tools and leveraging technology to boost productivity and enhance personal branding. We also spake about some crazy smart, simple SEO / lead gen hacks you can literally steal ( or recreate 🙄 ) and - yes there’s more - some networking strategies which will drop you right into the centre of where the opportunities happen. Episode Highlights: Mastering AI 🤖 Prompts: Cheryl emphasises the crucial role of crafting effective AI prompts to achieve accurate and useful outputs. By mastering this skill, professionals can significantly streamline their workflows and create high-quality content with AI's help. Networking 🤗 Synergy: Cheryl co-founded the "Work the Room" networking event, showcasing the power of blending in-person interactions and an online presence. This approach not only fosters deeper connections but also amplifies business opportunities and trust within professional communities. Niche 🎯 Focus for Success: Specialising in a niche, particularly in industries like the medical field, can elevate a brand's credibility and trust levels. Cheryl shares how her strategic focus on building websites for medical professionals has created substantial success and continuity for her business. ---- Get your copy of my Personal Brand Business Blueprint It's the FREE roadmap to starting, scaling or just fixing your expert business. www.amplifyme.agency/roadmap ---- Subscribe to my Youtube!! Building your LeaderBrand - Personal Branding, Social Media Marketing, Sales, Leadership & Expert Business for the Modern Entrepreneur

In this episode of The Personal Brand Business Show, I had a conversation with Laura Ora, a speaker and coach from Pennsylvania. Laura shares her journey of transitioning from a successful branding agency to pursuing full-time speaking and offers profound insights on personal growth, authenticity, and professional evolution. Laura's mission is to discover and then empower people to embrace what they 'really' want and overcome mental barriers that hinder their progress towards those previously 'unreasonable' goals. This interview is a lot of fun. 🔑 Key Takeaways 🔑 Authenticity Over Professionalism: Laura emphasises the value of being your authentic self in both personal and professional settings. She explains how portraying her true self led to greater satisfaction and more fitting opportunities—proving that authenticity attracts the right clients and prevents burnout. Action Breeds Opportunity: Both Laura and I discuss the importance of taking decisive action to discover new paths and opportunities. Movement and exploration are crucial for personal and professional growth, highlighting that clarity often comes through action rather than overthinking. Embracing Individuality: Laura advocates for individuality and authenticity, encouraging people to draw inspiration from others while adapting it to their unique context. She stresses that understanding and embracing what makes you different is essential to avoid burnout and foster continuous growth. About Laura LauraAura is a Speaker and Mindset Coach for driven women, guiding them to learn how to honor their energy and truly listen to what they want instead of what they’ve been taught they should. Laura is a vibrant speaker, coach, author, and host of The Gutsy Podcast, a Top 100 Podcast, and all-around visionary.
