Grace is back and the Mets have been good. Non-descript in their achievements, there's nothing much to really discuss. Some injured players are rehabbing, some players are overachieving and some are underachieving. The Subway Series was predictably annoying. But they're kind of just winning when they should (mostly) without any big excitement. Next, Grace dives into the newest round of should-he-shouldn't-he Hall of Fame discourse. Pete Rose, among other deceased figures around the sport, has been removed from the permanently ineligible list and ais now eligible for induction into the Hall of Fame. There are good arguments for, but also good arguments against, and it mostly comes down to how important character is to one's voting beliefs. Finally, Grace does a movie minute with a movie AND a TV show. First, a 50s blacklist miracle of a film that feels so progressive Grace doesn't know if it could be made today, let alone in 1953. Then, a Hollywood comedy television show that has been making Grace into a TV viewer (which is incredibly rare).Follow us on Twitter/X @FIBPod , on Instagram @FlushingisBurningPod , and email us at flushingisburning@gmail.com ! Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets , social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing the Mets’ turnaround this week from three-game losing streak to taking two of three from the Dodgers , driven mostly by their incredible pitching. Next, we talk about Katia Lindor’s appearance on the mic during Sunday Night Baseball. It was fun and wholesome, but also showed the human side of baseball we talk a lot about on this show. In our baseball segment this week, we shout out the Twins for their statement on the anniversary of the murder of George Floyd and express our excitement about the 2025 Women’s National Baseball Team development program. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets , social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin by discussing the weekend’s Subway Series, which was even more annoying than usual because of the Juan Soto discourse. We talk about holding the national media accountable for parroting what amounts to fan fiction about Soto and Yankees fans and Mets fans switching roles in this rivalry. We also beg the Mets to start hitting and winning games again because the division is getting tighter. Next, we talk about teams firing their managers and give our takes on some of the new City Connect uniforms. Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets ’ minor league system. We’re bringing back some old favorite segments in this episode, starting with promote-extend-trade; which former top Met pitching prospect would excel the most in the team’s current development environment? Think about how good an optimized Noah Syndergaard might’ve been. After that and a check-in on our system-follow guys, it’s draft season. We select two amateurs each that we’ll track for the next two months leading up the draft on July 13th. A prep bat seems unlikely given the current management’s draft history and the reality of the team’s limited draft pool, but we pick two to follow anyway. We also pick some college bats that make more sense. Here’s hoping the FCTQ crew can predict a Mets first round pick successfully yet again. Welcome back to A Pod of Their Own, an all-women led Home Run Applesauce podcast where we talk all things Mets , social justice issues in baseball, and normalize female voices in the sports podcasting space. This week, we begin with the past week of Mets baseball, which has mostly been very positive. We talk about how the Mets are always in the game, even when they’re losing. We discuss the couple of concerns we do have, namely Tylor Megill’s May struggles and whether Dedniel Núñez is ready to be back in the big leagues. Next, we shout out the Mets for having a mother’s room at Citi Field and campaign for Mrs. Met to get into the Mascot Hall of Fame . We also mention Ayami Soto , the first woman to compete on a men’s professional baseball team in Canada. In our baseball segment this week, we discuss the news that Pete Rose and other previously ineligible players who are now deceased, have been reinstated and are now eligible for the Hall of Fame. We also address a listener question about Trevor Bauer and other abusers robbing us of our baseball joy and talk about fans sending players’ families death threats (again). Finally, we wrap things up with Walk-off Wins, where each of us talks about what’s making us happy this week, baseball-related or otherwise. Welcome to From Complex to Queens, Home Run Applesauce’s podcast focusing on the Mets ’ minor league system. We diverge from our usual format this week to bring on senior writer at Baseball Prospectus and self proclaimed “long time crank” Jarrett Seidler . For those of you who don’t know, Jarrett is co-lead of the Baseball Prospectus prospect team (along with Amazin’ Avenue alumnus Jeffrey Paternostro) and is one of the leading hybrid evaluators - one who combines data and in-game looks - on the public side. What started as a conversation about early breakouts in the Mets’ system turns into a meandering discussion across a range of thought provoking questions; how do you recognize a breakout early? How good are the Mets at this really? What do you actually get out of visual evaluation in modern baseball? How certain is any of this, really? If you’re interested in the “meta” or prospect evaluation, this is a conversation you’ll really enjoy. Grace is back, and the Mets have been continually good, which is definitely emotionally confusing in a certain way. It's not like they haven't had their fair share of injuries, failures to launch, and tough losses. But by and large, they've been cruising so far this season, and it's fun to watch. Next, Grace delves into this year's Jackie Robinson Day conundrum. The recent rush by the current administration to erase anything they consider "DEI" (read: not about a straight white guy) took Jackie Robinson down with it. And though they eventually put it back, the league and the Dodger organization made no comments about it and the Dodgers visited the White House. How can a league celebrate the life of a man who's very essence of why he's important was just (attemptedly) annihilated by the most powerful politician in the country? Finally, Grace has a lush movie minute that is also a book adaptation. She loves a 50s period piece about repressed sexuality, and one of the best in a long while has arrived, boasting an impressive cast, beautiful technicals, and great source material.
