×This episode of Wifey Wednesdays focuses on the time of the prophets in our Old Testament history. While there was an entire episode dedicated to Elijah, this episode is intended to overview the work of all of the prophets and ultimately showcase how they were pointing to Jesus. Giving bits and pieces of detail about some of the prophets, Emily directs the listener’s attention to the blessing we have of living in a time that the prophets dreamed about — having the complete revealed will of God and knowing the scheme of redemption in full. This episode, while meant to round out our survey of the Old Testament, is hopefully going to encourage us to spend more time pouring over their words and basking in the goodness of God’s plan and the blessing of living in a time where we can benefit from the work of Christ in our own lives! ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
On this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily discusses 1 Kings 17-19, as the great prophet Elijah comes onto the scene. From there, listeners are encouraged to examine their own lives and realize how deeply God cares for us and is with us in good times and bad. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★
On this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily discusses some of the kings of the northern tribes of Israel that get very little in terms of verses, but receive very much in terms of punishment. There are many lessons to be learned from these unfaithful kings, and seeking to apply them to our lives will, hopefully, lead us closer to the heart of God and spare us from the humiliation that they incurred. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
Looking into the life of Judah’s faithful King Asa, we can be encouraged that our own faithfulness is not dependent upon that of our parents. While his grandfather, Rehoboam, and his father, Abijam, were unfaithful kings, Asa broke away from their negative example. He even went so far as to remove his own grandmother from a position of power so that he could be faithful to the Lord. There are many great attributes of this king that are discussed in today’s episode of Wifey Wednesdays. Many applications can be made from the life of Asa for a Christian seeking to wholly follow after the Lord. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
This episode of Wifey Wednesdays continues through the Old Testament as we seek to apply the truths of God’s word to our lives today. In 1 Kings 14, King Rehoboam is facing a familiar enemy. This episode explores why this enemy has been allowed back into the lives of the tribe of Judah and how we might be able to keep ourselves from our enemy’s advances by heeding the words of Rehoboam’s father, King Solomon. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
This episode of Wifey Wednesdays continues in the life of King Jeroboam, the first king of the northern tribe of Israel after the great divide. Unfortunately, Jeroboam continues down the path of following his own desires instead of following God, and this episode explores the message he is given from God’s prophet Ahijah. This news is going to be awful and affect everyone in Jeroboam’s family. And while it is often more palatable to learn the positive lessons we can learn from positive examples, this account helps us to appreciate the severity of God and the holiness and sovereignty He shows in the life of this rebellious king. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
On this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily looks at the moment the kingdom of Israel divides. Both Rehoboam and Jeroboam take counsel from others that ends up having devastating consequences. Upon examination of the hearts and attitudes of these kings, there are many applications to be made for Christians today about egotism, fearfulness, and echo chambers. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…

On this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily examines David’s son, King Solomon, and shows how we can learn from the wisdom, humility, and foolishness of this famous king. Often touted for being the wisest, and lamented as being exceedingly worldly, there are many lessons to be gleaned from this ancient ruler. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
On this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily discusses how a man who was an adulterer and a murderer could also be considered a man after God’s own heart, and blessed to be in the lineage of Christ. On this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily dives back into the Old Testament narrative, this time focusing on the king that God gives to Israel after Saul — a king they did not deserve, but that they needed. On the season opener of Wifey Wednesdays season 21, Emily picks up where she left off in season 20 in the overview of the Bible series. This episode begins with the introduction of Israel's first earthly king, and what happens when you get exactly what you want - but it isn't what God had intended for you. Israel's rejection of God as their king proved to be a terrible move, but the children of Israel are not the only ones tempted to want what the world around them has. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
For the final episode of season twenty, Emily looks into the final demand of the people to become like the nations around them. In demanding a king, the children of Israel reject God and prove the numbness of their hearts and the calloused nature of their lives. Still, God allows the people to have what they ask for, even though it means He has been rejected. This episode concludes by looking at a different time that God is rejected as King, and the blessings that we have in knowing that this King is eager to forgive this rebellion and unfaithfulness when we turn to Him. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…

From this, Emily draws our attention to our privilege of going before God on behalf of others through prayer. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
On this episode of Wifey Wednesdays, Emily continues her overview of the Old Testament, picking up at the foot of Mount Sinai with Moses and the children of Israel. While the Israelites verbally confirm that they will uphold and obey God’s covenant, it doesn’t take them long to turn aside because of Moses’ delay in coming down from the mountain. This episode focuses on our own inabilities to stay faithful to our own covenants, and encourages us to stay faithful to our mighty, amazing, holy God! ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★…
Coming out of Egypt, Emily looks into the leadership of Moses and the constant complaint of God’s people. Throughout this season, Emily will be exploring the lives of many of our well known Patriarchs as well as lesser known Old Testament individuals who help shape the Bible narrative to ultimately bring about God’s plan to send Jesus to die for our sins. On episode one of this season, Emily looks at Adam and Eve, the fall, and the flood to see what it can teach us about the consequences of a life lived in self-gratification and self-glorification.
