This Is Woman's Work with Nicole Kalil

Let’s talk about the three things women are told not to do: negotiate, network unapologetically, and say no like we mean it. Most of us have been programmed to default to yes—to the point that we feel guilty saying no, even when it’s the most obvious answer. And when we do say no? We often soften it, explain it away, and sugarcoat it so much that it barely sounds like a no at all. Kathryn Valentine—CEO of Worthmore Strategies and corporate badass helping companies retain and promote female talent—is here to flip that script. With experience advising Fortune 100s and dropping knowledge in places like HBR and Fast Company, Kathryn knows exactly how women can claim their worth, own their voice, and not feel bad about it. From salary talks to schedule shifts, from asking for more to turning down what doesn’t serve you, this episode is your reminder: your power doesn't come from being liked. It comes from knowing what matters and having the guts to go after it. Kathryn even drops her epic list of 76 things you can negotiate (yes, SEVENTY-SIX). So if you've ever softened your no or stayed silent in a meeting, this one’s for you. 1 Make Free Money 17:52
Make Free Money - The Easiest Way To Make Risk-Free Money Every Month Welcome to another episode of Join Up Dots, where today we’re diving deep into a method that’s helping everyday people make free money—and I mean real, tangible cash that can boost your income without asking you to work more hours, sell anything, or start a side hustle from scratch. This isn’t about filling in endless surveys for pennies or trying your luck with crypto. Today, we’re talking about something that’s been sitting quietly in the background for years—matched betting—a strategy that, when done properly, can help you make free money simply by taking advantage of bookmaker offers. That’s right, legal, tax-free profits just for being a bit more switched-on with your online activity. Now I know what some of you might be thinking. Betting? That sounds risky. But that’s where this episode is different. I walk you step-by-step through how to make this work in a safe, structured, and risk-managed way. I share exactly how thousands of people are using matched betting to turn bookmaker promotions into profit—without gambling in the traditional sense. This is not about hoping to win—this is about knowing you will win. You’re playing the system, not the odds. Matched betting allows you to profit by locking in guaranteed returns using a combination of free bets and clever positioning between a bookmaker and a betting exchange. You back a bet with the bookmaker using their free bet, and you lay the same outcome on the exchange so all outcomes are covered. No guesswork. No gambling. Just maths. Throughout the episode, I use a simple example—placing a bet on Manchester United—to show exactly how the process works. And I do it slowly, clearly, and repeatedly so it doesn’t go over anyone’s head. Because let’s be honest, a lot of this financial world is full of jargon and complexity. But making free money shouldn’t be. In fact, it can be surprisingly easy once you see the full picture—and that’s what this episode gives you. One of the most powerful things about matched betting is that it’s one of those rare ways to make free money by doing something you’re probably already doing—browsing the internet, looking at sports results, and maybe even placing the odd bet here and there. But this time, you do it with strategy, purpose, and precision. And don’t worry—this episode doesn’t expect you to be a maths genius or a sports betting expert. Far from it. In fact, I deliberately break everything down like I was teaching a friend in the pub or chatting with a listener like Kelly, who emailed me struggling to make ends meet. I told her exactly what I’ll tell you: “This can be your foot in the door to make free money each month without changing your lifestyle one bit.” If you're organised, if you're willing to follow the process and take it slow at the start, you can realistically earn £500 to £1,000 tax-free in your first couple of months—sometimes even more. And from there, it becomes an income stream that runs quietly in the background while you go about your life. But I also talk about the mindset shift that needs to happen. Because it’s not just about the technique—it’s about the decision to no longer struggle, to question everything, and to find smarter ways to live. It’s about saying, “Hang on a minute… why am I working harder when I could just make free money from something as simple as signing up to a bookmaker and following some steps?” I also highlight how this approach is just the beginning. Once you unlock this mindset—this willingness to explore, research, and take small steps—you’ll see other doors opening. You’ll start to see cashback sites, switching bank bonuses, stoozing, and airmiles as more ways to make free money simply by being clever with the systems that already exist. So, if you’re someone who’s tired of never having anything left at the end of the month… If you’ve ever felt like you’re constantly trying to get ahead but never quite making it… This episode is for you. You don’t need to quit your job. You don’t need to launch a business. You just need to sit down, open your ears, and listen to a process that thousands of people are already using to change their financial situation. This is practical. It’s real. And it’s powerful. And remember, it’s not just about the money. It’s about the control it gives you. The confidence. The belief that yes, you can find ways to thrive—even if you’ve been scraping by for years. This is about reclaiming your financial future, one small smart decision at a time. So take a listen now to this episode of Join Up Dots and share it with someone who needs to hear it. A friend. A partner. A colleague. Because once you understand how to make free money the smart way, you’ll wonder why nobody told you sooner. 🔥 Share the episode using hashtags like #MakeFreeMoney, #JoinUpDots, #SmartEarnings, and #MoneyMindsetShift to spread the word and help others get in on the opportunity too. And of course… Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast and leave a review. Your feedback helps us reach more people and continue bringing you valuable content. See you in the next episode!…

Join Up Dots - Business Coaching Made Easy (With A Bit Of Life Coaching Too)

1 Stop Drifting And Start Choosing 18:32
Stop Drifting And Start Choosing Have you ever looked around at your life and wondered, “How did I end up here?” Not in a dramatic, everything’s-on-fire kind of way—but in that quiet, soul-nagging realisation that you’re not exactly where you hoped you’d be? In this powerful episode of Join Up Dots, we respond to a heartfelt email from Sarah in Cheltenham, a listener who perfectly captures what so many feel deep down but never put into words. She’s not miserable. She’s not living in crisis. But every morning feels the same, every evening ends in the same quiet exhaustion, and her career—one she admits she “fell into”—no longer excites her, if it ever did at all. Her question is one that echoes across workplaces, cities, and dinner tables: “Is this really all there is?” And that’s exactly where we begin. This episode pulls apart the hidden epidemic of drifting through life—going from one thing to the next without ever truly making a conscious decision. From university to a “temporary” job that somehow becomes permanent, from taking advice that was never questioned to sticking with a life blueprint that wasn’t even ours to begin with. We break down how most people hand over control of their lives, not in one big moment, but in a thousand small ways… until they look up and wonder how they became a passenger in their own story. But here’s the truth: waking up to that reality isn’t a failure. It’s the start of something new. It’s the moment of awareness that invites change. In this episode, we explore how to stop drifting and start designing a life that feels intentional, fulfilling, and truly yours. We talk through the moment where questioning becomes clarity—where vague discontent turns into direction. And we address the myth that you have to destroy your current life to build a better one. Instead, we uncover how tiny shifts, bold questions, and committed action can gradually steer your course toward something more meaningful. You’ll hear why so many people confuse comfort with happiness, and why stability—while seductive—can become a trap if you never stop to ask “Is this what I want?” We dig into the mechanics of inertia: how once you're on a path, the world almost conspires to keep you there unless you actively push back. But we also discuss how breaking that inertia doesn’t require drama. It requires decision. We invite listeners to rediscover the power of asking “why”—why they chose their jobs, their routines, their goals… and whether those answers still hold up. And if they don’t? Well, that’s not a reason for despair. That’s a sign that you’re finally paying attention. This isn’t just a philosophical deep dive. It’s an emotional lifeline for anyone stuck in a life that feels “fine” on the outside but hollow on the inside. We offer an empowering framework to start making shifts today, not next year. You’ll walk away understanding that reclaiming your direction doesn’t have to mean quitting your job overnight or fleeing the country. It starts with tuning into your life with curiosity, courage, and the belief that change is possible—even in small, steady steps. And of course, we wrap things up with a practical, step-by-step action plan to help you move from drifting to designing. Whether it’s reigniting a long-buried dream, shifting your career path, or simply getting more intentional with how you spend your time—this plan helps listeners begin the process of reclaiming control without overwhelm. If you’ve ever felt like you’re just going through the motions, if your career or lifestyle was chosen more by chance than by choice, if you’ve ever caught yourself saying “I don’t hate my life, but I don’t love it either”… then this episode is your mirror and your map. It’s time to stop drifting. It’s time to stop waiting for permission. It’s time to take back control and build a life that feels as good on the inside as it might look on the outside. Please share this episode with someone who needs to hear it—a colleague, a friend, your partner, or even your younger self. Let’s help more people recognise they’re not stuck. They’re just one decision away from designing a better life. #LifeByDesign #JoinUpDotsPodcast #NoMoreDrifting #WakeUpAndCreate #TakeBackControl And don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast and leave a review. From Wall Street to Spiked Coconut Water – Chris Allen’s Startup Leap In this episode of Join Up Dots, we dive into the incredible journey of Chris Allen, co-founder of CV Brewing and the mastermind behind Osena, the world’s first spiked coconut water cocktail. Join Up Dots - Business Coaching Made Easy (With A Bit Of Life Coaching Too)

LISTENER SUCCESS: From Playing To Six Figures Welcome to Join Up Dots, the podcast that dives deep into the stories and philosophies that show us how life’s little moments and decisions connect in ways we often don’t expect — until they do. In this episode, I’m sharing an incredible story about my friend Ben. It’s a journey that stretches back several years and perfectly illustrates the power of trusting the process and following your curiosity — even when the path isn’t clear. Ben reached out to me in 2017, feeling jaded and stuck in his corporate job, wondering if starting a sales coaching business was the right way out. Like so many of us, he was searching for purpose and direction but uncertain how to find it. We had some deep conversations about what lights you up, what feels authentic, and how to find the courage to take that first step — but back then, the path was still a mystery. Fast forward to 2021, and Ben found himself in a very different situation. Working remotely, day after day in the same space, the monotony of life was creeping in again. So, he picked up a guitar. What began as a simple hobby quickly turned into a passion. Ben started buying guitars, modding and customizing them, and eventually selling his creations online. From these small beginnings, a business was born — Pro Tones, a Florida-based company specializing in crafting unique, modified guitars. Here’s the kicker: Pro Tones now makes more money than Ben’s previous six-figure corporate salary. He’s doing what he loves every day — and it feels like play, not work. Some days, the hours fly by without him noticing because he’s completely in flow. That’s the kind of success story that shows the power of joining up dots — of trusting that your interests, no matter how small or unrelated they may seem, can connect in ways that lead you exactly where you want to be. What makes Ben’s story even more inspiring is that he didn’t force it. There was no burnout or hustle grind. Instead, he followed his curiosity, stayed playful, and let the journey unfold naturally. That’s the essence of Join Up Dots — success isn’t a straight line, but a beautiful puzzle made up of experiments, passions, conversations, and moments that eventually come together. When you stop forcing outcomes and start enjoying the process, you create flow. You show up consistently, and the dots join up. This philosophy isn’t just Ben’s. It’s mine too. Over the years, I’ve seen my own businesses take off when I focus on enjoyment rather than pressure. When I stop obsessing over the end goal and dive into the joy of the work itself, the ideas come easier, energy flows, and success follows as a natural side effect. It’s like the universe rewards presence and passion more than frantic effort. Ben’s story perfectly illustrates this truth: when you let go of trying to “make it happen” and instead start playing — whether that’s literally strumming a guitar or playing with new ideas — the magic begins. If you’re feeling stuck, unsure of your next step, or overwhelmed by chasing success, this episode is for you. It’s a reminder that sometimes the best thing you can do is follow your curiosity, experiment with what lights you up, and trust that the dots will connect in time. And if you’re already on your journey, this story will inspire you to keep showing up and enjoy the ride. I’ll also break down how you can start joining up your own dots by tuning into your curiosity, taking small consistent steps, reflecting on your progress, and being open to change. Ben’s story is a powerful proof that you don’t need to force success — you need to create flow and trust the process. So, if you’re ready to stop grinding and start enjoying, if you want to hear how a hobby became a thriving business, and if you want to be reminded why joining up dots is one of the most powerful ways to live, this episode is for you. Please share this episode with your friends and family using #JoinUpDots and #FlowNotForce. The more people who hear this message, the more lives we can help change by shifting from forcing success to trusting the journey. Don’t forget to subscribe to the podcast and leave a review. Your feedback helps us reach more people and continue bringing you valuable content. See you in the next episode!…

Geoff Thompson Author Todays guest is a fantastic fella who I have wanted to have on the show right from the very first days of Join Up Dots. But like all new things that you start, I felt I needed a platform and an exposure that was worth his time, as he has a fantastic story that so many of you will resonate with. He is a chap who grew up in quite a working class part of the United Kingdom, known as Coventry, and was a self confessed sensitive child, who struggled with many parts of being a kid that so many people breeze through. The transition to senior school was particularly difficult for him, and in an attempt to find some courage that he could take back into his school-life, he commenced a martial arts course. However, the positive idea to empower, unfortunately had quite the opposite effect, as one day the martial arts tutor abused him, and quite simply changed his life over night. And from that point, his life spiralled into a world of violence and anger. And for over a decade he built a life based around the punishment he could dish out particularly around his job as a nightclub bouncer. But then his life changed again, and he realised that he had to take control, and reclaim his own personal power. And with the publication of his first book detailing this part of his life, he moved into a world of creating, positive reinforcement and inspiring the world to take control of their lives. He has since written forty books (published in 21 languages), five multi-award-winning films, three stage plays (he was invited into the prestigious Royal Court writers Group) and hundreds of articles, many published in national magazines and broadsheets, and his autobiography ‘Watch My Back‘ has been adapted into a major motion picture Clubbed. So does he think that he would have become so successful in this arena, if he didn't have something to fight against? And what is the advice that he would give to himself if he had a chance to go back in time? Well, we are going to find out, so its with great delight that I bring onto the show to start joining up dots, the one and only Mr Geoff Thompson Dream Jobs, Online Courses, Persistence, Personal Trainer, Decision Making, Publicity, Young Entrepreneur, Freedom, Addicted, Shawn Stevenson, American Hustle, Make Money Online, Motivational Quotes, Expedition, Challenges, Steve Jobs, How To Start A Business, The Secret, Rich, Online Marketing, Time Management, Blogger, Videos, Recruiting, Authentic, Travel Blogs, Ultra Running, American Football, How To Make Money, Online Business, Company Culture, Law Of Attraction, Planet Money, Jobs, Video Marketing, Linkedin, Success Principles, Digital Marketing, Action Taking, Starting A Business, Successful Entrepreneurs, Personal Branding, Amazon, Lead Generation, Career Change, Life Planner, Comfort zone, Simplicity, Break The Rules, Book Launches, Personal Finance, Secret To Success, Business Plan, Health And Fitness, Tech Startup, Self Publishing, Entrepreneurs, Love, Career Path, Educational, Creativity, Selling, motivation, motivational, inspiration, confidence, success, freedom…

What if your Job was just a SIDE HUSTLE? In this episode of Join Up Dots, we challenge one of the biggest mindset traps holding people back from real freedom: the belief that your job is your main gig and everything else is just a side hustle. But what if it’s the other way around? What if your job is just one income stream—and not even the most important one? Join Up Dots - Business Coaching Made Easy (With A Bit Of Life Coaching Too)

Life After the Leap – What Really Changes When You Become an Entrepreneur On this episode of Join Up Dots, we’re diving deep into something a lot of people think about but rarely get honest answers to—what really happens to your life when you stop working for someone else and go all-in on your own business? Is it all freedom, money, and passive income... or are there unexpected challenges that no one tells you about? David Ralph, host of Join Up Dots, opens up in response to real listener questions from around the world—questions that get right to the heart of the entrepreneurial experience. These aren’t sugar-coated, surface-level topics. These are the things you wonder when you're lying awake at night, debating whether it's finally time to hand in your notice and bet on yourself. Listeners from the UK to Australia, Ghana to Canada, and everywhere in between sent in curious, heartfelt, and sometimes funny questions about what life really looks like once you take control of your career and step into the world of entrepreneurship. And in true Join Up Dots style, David doesn’t dodge any of them. You’ll hear how his daily routine has transformed—not just the hours, but the mindset. Gone are the rigid Monday morning meetings and soul-draining commutes. In their place? Freedom. But that freedom comes with its own set of challenges that nobody warns you about—like being solely responsible for creating your own momentum when no one's watching over your shoulder. David shares how he balances the desire for flexibility with the discipline needed to keep his businesses thriving. One of the most fascinating parts of this episode is how David talks about time—not in terms of productivity hacks, but how his relationship with time has evolved since becoming his own boss. Weekends feel different. Mornings feel different. Life has a new rhythm now that he calls the shots. But it’s not all sunshine. He’s open about moments of burnout, of wondering whether it was all worth it, and of nearly throwing in the towel. Money also plays a huge role in the discussion. Listeners asked some tough questions about finances. Has David made more money since leaving his job? How does he deal with inconsistent income? Is it easier or harder to manage money when you don’t have a salary landing on the same day each month? His answers are real, grounded, and sometimes surprising. Because let’s face it—when your income depends on your own ideas, consistency becomes a skill you have to develop fast. Relationships also come up—because when you change your life, your connections with others often shift too. David reflects on how his friendships, family dynamics, and even his sense of identity have evolved since leaving traditional employment. It’s not always smooth sailing. Not everyone cheers you on. But entrepreneurship often teaches you who’s really in your corner—and who isn’t. There’s also a brilliant moment where David describes what he misses from the old days. Yes, there are things he actually misses. Having a team around. Casual banter. Someone else worrying about tech problems or tax codes. But then he counters that with the small, quiet wins of his new life—the coffee on a slow morning, walking the dog at midday, the simple joy of choosing how every hour is spent. If you’ve ever thought, “What would my life really look like if I didn’t work for someone else anymore?”—this episode is for you. You’ll get an honest look into the gains, the losses, the triumphs, and the trade-offs that come with the entrepreneurial path. And what’s refreshing is that it’s not a highlight reel. It’s a human story of transformation, choice, and growth. By the end of the episode, you'll feel more equipped than ever to answer your own questions about whether entrepreneurship is right for you. It's not about convincing you either way—it's about giving you real insight, so you can make a decision that matches your own values and lifestyle goals. And remember—if this episode sparks a thought, makes you laugh, challenges your thinking, or pushes you one step closer to your next big leap, then share it. That’s how we grow this amazing community of dreamers, doers, and action-takers around the world. 1 Digital Agencies That Work 46:04
Digital Agencies That Work Digital Agencies have become big business for my guest today, on the Steve Jobs inspired Join Up Dots free podcast interview is a man with an amazingly unusual road to where he is today as a digital agency expert. Not least, as I discovered that his first job was a gravedigger at a Pet Cemetery, digging graves for Fido and Felix, and many other beloved pets who had used up their extended lifelines. But certainly his career might have seen dead and buried, but in fact it was just one of the big dots that has lead him to where he is today. Digging around the internet, spying on the competition and bringing the five steps of lead generation to life for his clients As the founder of Digital Agency School and the CEO of the marketing agency GoBeyond SEO, he believes that there are five stages that all businesses need if they want to floruish in their markets 1. Identify your ideal client 2. Research what works in your market (i.e. “spy” on your competition) 3. Craft a converting message and foot in the door offer 4. Build a funnel you can leverage 5. Analyze the data and optimize And this systems appears to be working wonders, as even though he started his agency with no experience, no marketing education or any connections in the industry he is certainly rocking and rolling. Now he wants to help other marketers launch their own agencies so they can build their ideal career & lifestyle and I suppose legacy. And isn't that what life is all about, helping as many people as you can to get their dream, and in the process getting your own one as a result. So how did he start Digital Agencies if he had no experience in it, and still make it a success? And does he look back at the time when he used to read the newspaper over the radio to blind people as useful in anyway to where he is now? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Brian Saemann Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Brian Saemann such as: Why the skill of anti-selling is such a powerful concept in business...and what is that? Quite simply the more that we tell someone that they can't have it the more they will want it. Brian tells how he had to work two jobs for a year and a half until he had the money and structure to start his new business (even after being pushed by his wife) Why Brian feels that all businesses, especially in the beginning should thrive on old school marketing techniques as these are so much easier to understand and will make money quicker. and lastly…. Brian shares the mistakes he has made both financially and timewise, which although disappointing, have led him to where he is today.…

1 I WALKED AWAY From everything 18:00
I WALKED AWAY From everything In today’s powerful episode of Join Up Dots, we’re diving into one of the most important—yet rarely discussed—aspects of success: the moment when pushing forward is no longer the right move, and walking away is the only one that makes sense. This episode is a deeply personal exploration, inspired by David’s own recent experience. After writing two back-to-back books, juggling coaching sessions, running the podcast, managing countless day-to-day business tasks, and still trying to find room for real life, something gave way. He hit that mental brick wall where the brain just stalls. There’s no fire, no meltdown, no disaster. Just a fog. A grinding silence where creativity used to live. But instead of pushing through—as so many of us are conditioned to do—he did something radically different: he stepped away. This episode is not about burnout in the dramatic sense. It’s about the quiet, invisible kind. The slow build-up of stress, pressure, decisions, and expectations until the brain—your most important tool—can no longer function properly. And science backs this up. David explains how your prefrontal cortex, the part of the brain that helps you focus, plan, and make decisions, begins to shut down when it’s overloaded. Add in chronic stress and a flood of cortisol, and you’ve got the perfect conditions for confusion, frustration, and fatigue. But what do most of us do in those moments? We double down. We work harder. We drink more coffee, open more tabs, and try to push through the fog. The message we’re bombarded with is clear: if you’re not constantly doing, you’re falling behind. This episode flips that narrative on its head. David talks about his own breaking point—the moment he could no longer write a single useful sentence, no matter how hard he tried. And what happened when he took a step back wasn’t failure. It was recovery. It was clarity. It was the return of the spark. Through relatable storytelling and grounded insights, you’ll learn how stepping away, even for just a short walk, activates the brain’s Default Mode Network—where real creativity, insight, and problem-solving reside. That moment when you finally stop forcing the answer? That’s when your best ideas often appear. The episode also explores the internal resistance we feel when we consider taking a break. The guilt. The fear of falling behind. The false belief that rest is a reward instead of a requirement. But David challenges that thinking and shares why it’s time we normalise pressing pause—not just when we’ve collapsed, but when we sense the first signs of overwhelm. You’ll hear how walking away isn’t the same as quitting. It’s not about abandoning your goals or avoiding hard work. It’s about creating space. It’s about respecting the natural rhythms of your mind and body. Because real productivity comes from purpose, not pressure. Whether you’re an entrepreneur, creator, parent, or simply someone who’s trying to do too much all at once, this episode will strike a chord. It’s a reminder that you don’t need to break down in order to justify slowing down. You’ll also walk away with a simple yet powerful strategy to use the next time you feel the fog rolling in. It’s a mental reset plan that helps you stop, recalibrate, and return to your work with more energy, better ideas, and a stronger sense of direction. This episode isn’t about stopping. It’s about continuing, in the right way. So if you’ve been feeling like your mind is overloaded, your clarity is fading, and your progress feels like a grind, this one’s for you. Listen now and rediscover the power of walking away—not as a last resort, but as a deliberate, intelligent step forward. If this episode resonates with you—or you know someone who’s right at that tipping point—take a moment to share it. Let’s get this message out there. Join Up Dots - Business Coaching Made Easy (With A Bit Of Life Coaching Too)

In this episode of Join Up Dots, we pull back the curtain on a side hustle that’s so simple, so accessible, and so completely overlooked by most people, it might just become your favourite way to make money. It’s a strategy hiding in plain sight—right there on your street, online in community forums, and even tucked behind the ‘Free Stuff’ section of your local Facebook Marketplace. We call it Turning Trash into Cash, and today we break down exactly how you can start turning discarded items into real, regular income. You don’t need a website, a brand, or a social media presence to get started. You don’t need to sign up for courses or buy into business systems. This is business at its most grassroots: you find something someone no longer wants, you clean it up, maybe fix it slightly, and you find someone else who’s happy to pay for it. The profit is in the gap between who wants it gone and who sees its worth. And that’s where you come in. This isn’t about being a scavenger—it’s about being a problem solver. You’re helping people declutter, giving items a second life, and supplying others with things they need at a better price. And while you're doing all of that, you’re also earning money for yourself. It’s practical, purposeful, and completely within your control. We start by explaining why this hustle works. The world is drowning in stuff. People have garages, sheds, spare rooms and even storage units full of things they no longer use or want. Whether it’s because they’re moving, downsizing, or just fed up with clutter, many of them are happy to see it gone for free. They just want someone to come and take it. You become that someone—and what you do next is where the magic happens. The heart of this side hustle is the ability to see opportunity in what others overlook. That wobbly side table? That stack of old books? That rusty bike? Most people ignore them. But if you can look a little deeper, you’ll see what they could be, not what they are. That’s what makes this work. A little elbow grease, a quick fix, a good clean and a photo taken in decent lighting can be all it takes to turn an item from forgotten to valuable. To show just how possible this is, we walk you through a real-life scenario in the episode. Imagine scrolling Facebook Marketplace and finding a solid oak coffee table being given away for free. It’s a bit scratched but still in great shape. You arrange to collect it that day, give it a good clean and a polish, and then list it for £40. Within 48 hours, someone picks it up—and just like that, you’ve made money. Now repeat that five times a week. That’s £600 to £800 a month in your pocket, just by being proactive and creative. We also explore where to find the best free stuff. Freecycle, Craigslist, Nextdoor, Gumtree, and Facebook Marketplace all have rich “Free” sections full of potential. But don’t forget about offline gems either—car boot sales, house clearances, skip bins and those serendipitous finds left out on the street with a “take me” sign. There are opportunities everywhere, once your eyes are trained to look. One thing we love about this hustle is that it grows with you. You don’t need a van or warehouse to start. You can use a bike trailer, your car boot, or even just carry items home. You can store things in your garage or spare room and set a personal goal of flipping just one or two items a week. Or, if you catch the bug and want to scale it up, you can expand into house clearances, develop a reputation in your local area, or create a small community brand. You’re in charge. You decide how big or small it becomes. Throughout the episode, we also talk about how to price items, how to spot red flags, and how to avoid things that could cost more than they’re worth—like broken electronics or water-damaged furniture. We cover safety tips, transport hacks, and clever ways to maximise space. And we finish with a clear, step-by-step action plan that will help you turn this episode into action by the end of the week. But this is more than just a hustle for income. It’s a mindset shift. Once you start seeing value where others see waste, you’ll never look at your surroundings the same way again. You’ll notice potential in every neighbourhood skip, every dusty box of books, every garage clear-out. You’ll find purpose in giving items a second life. And with every flip, you’ll be building confidence, resilience, and resourcefulness. It’s also worth saying that this hustle is environmentally conscious. Instead of adding to landfill, you’re reducing waste. Instead of buying new, you’re encouraging reuse. It’s circular economy thinking in action—and that makes this more than just a way to earn money. It’s a way to do good while doing well. So if you’ve been waiting for the “right idea” to get started… if you’ve ever told yourself that business is too complicated, or that you don’t know what to sell… or if you’re just looking for a way to put an extra £100 a week into your pocket without risking anything—you’ve just found it. This episode gives you everything you need to know to begin, with zero investment and total control. Now it’s over to you. Listen. Learn. Take action. And if you found this episode helpful, share it with a friend or someone in your community who needs a boost of inspiration and a path forward. The more people we help see opportunity where others see obstacles, the stronger and more resilient our communities become. Use the hashtags: #JoinUpDots #TrashToCash #FreecycleHustle #OfflineIncome #FlipForProfit and let’s build a ripple effect of creative, resourceful earners making something brilliant from things others throw away. Join Up Dots - Business Coaching Made Easy (With A Bit Of Life Coaching Too)

The Skill Swap Side Hustle – Earn Money by Connecting People (Without Going Online) In this episode of Join Up Dots, we explore a brilliantly simple and refreshingly offline side hustle idea that’s built entirely on human connection. If you've ever felt overwhelmed by the digital noise of online platforms like Etsy, eBay, or social media algorithms, this episode offers you a breath of fresh air—and a genuine business opportunity that starts right on your doorstep. The Skill Swap Side Hustle is all about harnessing the value that already exists within your local community. It’s about connecting people who have something to teach with those who are eager to learn, and positioning yourself right in the middle of that exchange. Think of it as becoming a local connector—someone who knows who teaches guitar, who wants to learn how to knit, or who needs help speaking Spanish for an upcoming trip. Every connection you make becomes an opportunity for income, value, and community building. The inspiration for this hustle comes from a real-life moment: a retired woman sharing her photography skills with a teenager in a quiet café. No app. No advertising. Just a few coins exchanged for knowledge and a shared experience. That simple moment sparked the realisation that there are countless people with skills they’d be happy to share—if only someone brought them together. That “someone” could be you. Throughout the episode, we dive into how this works practically. From retired bakers teaching sourdough to curious home cooks, teenagers trading guitar lessons for Spanish tutoring, or community members meeting for a “Speed Skill Swap” evening—this idea flourishes through the everyday connections all around us. You don’t need a website or a storefront. You just need ears, eyes, and a willingness to bring people together. You can charge a small fee per introduction, run local events, or build a simple subscription-based network for your area. People trust human introductions far more than online ads or anonymous listings, and that’s what makes this side hustle not just powerful, but sustainable. You become known as the go-to person for unlocking hidden talents and making learning accessible and personal. What makes this hustle even more exciting is its low barrier to entry. There’s no need for investment in inventory or tech. All it takes is starting conversations, taking notes, and matching people up. As you grow, so do the opportunities—running workshops, expanding to nearby towns, and even partnering with schools, councils, or community organisations. The episode explores the deeper human truth behind the hustle: people want connection. Many feel isolated, overlooked, or unused, despite having decades of experience or unique knowledge. Others want to learn and grow but don’t know where to turn. This model bridges that gap. It empowers both the teachers and the learners—and it pays you to make that happen. Of course, we tackle the most common objections too. Why would people pay for this? Because they’re tired of looking for help online and want a trusted, warm introduction. Isn’t this just being a middleman? Absolutely. And in today’s world, being a caring, present, human middleman is more powerful than ever. Is there enough demand? The demand for learning is endless—DIY, languages, crafts, cooking, tech, hobbies—and the skills already exist in our communities, waiting to be discovered. So, if you’re looking for a business idea that’s meaningful, rewarding, and easy to start, this episode is for you. It’s perfect for those who enjoy people, like being helpful, and want to earn by creating value out of connection. It's also ideal for those wanting to escape the digital hustle in favour of something more personal and real. Listen in to discover how to start your own Skill Swap Side Hustle today. You’ll walk away with a clear action plan, inspiration, and the tools to launch something impactful in just a few days. Whether it’s organising one match or hosting a community event, the journey starts with a conversation—and that conversation could be life-changing. If this episode lights a fire in you, don’t keep it to yourself. Share it with someone who thrives on helping others. Let’s spread this movement of local connection and offline income. 1 THINK Small Portfolio BEFORE Big 25:11
THINK Small Portfolio BEFORE Big In this episode of Join Up Dots, we dive deep into a challenge that so many new entrepreneurs face — the pressure to find and commit to one big business idea. Listener Hollie from Chelmsford reaches out, overwhelmed by the constant messages online telling her to go "all in" on a single venture. She’s got ideas, passion, and motivation, but none of them feel like the “perfect” thing — and that hesitation has her stuck in overthinking mode. This episode offers a powerful reframe: what if the best path isn’t to go all in on one big business, but instead to start small and create a portfolio of income streams? Rather than pouring your energy, time, and resources into something untested, why not spread your risk, learn as you go, and stack small wins into something meaningful? We share real-world stories of people who did just that — including one entrepreneur who lost thousands chasing a perfect product, and another who slowly built a collection of simple income streams that now give her full-time freedom. You’ll hear about dog walking businesses, handmade candle sales, and simple local blogs that became powerful income channels — all without a big launch, investor backing, or quitting a day job. In fact, what you’ll discover is that control, clarity, and confidence all come from movement — not from standing still while you wait for the lightning bolt of inspiration. This episode is a reminder that your journey doesn’t have to start with a grand plan. It can start with a £10 win. A happy client. A blog post. A candle sale. As we work through Hollie’s dilemma, we uncover the hidden power in doing many small things that excite you, instead of chasing one intimidating, "career-defining" idea. You’ll learn how testing multiple income streams helps you develop real skills, identify your ideal customers, and discover what truly energises you. It’s not just about making money — it’s about building a life that feels like yours. So whether you’re thinking of selling digital downloads, offering local services, creating content, or trying out creative products, this episode will open your eyes to how small ideas can grow into something incredible when given the space to evolve. You don’t need to wait until you feel ready. You don’t need to go big. You don’t need anyone’s permission. You just need to start — and let the dots join up from there. Share this episode with someone who needs to hear that building freedom doesn’t require taking huge risks. Is Your Life A Bit BLAH? Then You Need The SPARK! On this episode of Join Up Dots, we dive into something I call The Spark—that persistent inner feeling that there’s more to life than what you’re currently living. It’s that quiet voice inside you that refuses to die, nudging you toward something better, something more fulfilling. Many of us settle into routines that leave us feeling drained, disconnected, or just “off track.” Maybe you find yourself going through the motions, wondering if this really is all there is. I share my own “desk moment,” a simple yet powerful awakening when I realised that even though things seemed fine on the surface, I was no longer fully alive or engaged in my own life. This episode is about that first vital shift: awareness. It’s not about dramatic changes or overnight transformations, but about recognising the parts of your daily life that drain your energy versus those that light you up. Through honest reflection, you can start reclaiming your power and move away from autopilot to becoming the author of your own story. Wanting more from life isn’t selfish—it’s essential. And the fear of failing to change shouldn’t stop you from trying. The bigger risk is staying stuck in a life that doesn’t fit, watching potential slip away. I invite you to reflect on your own spark and share your moments of clarity with the hashtag #MySparkMoment. Let’s build a community of people who refuse to settle and are ready to take those small steps toward meaningful change. 1 I HANDED In My NOTICE!! 25:20
I HANDED In My NOTICE!! In this powerful and heartfelt episode of Join Up Dots, we’re diving deep into the real stories behind the downloads. Every week, thousands of people across the globe tune in, seeking clarity, motivation, and a path to change. But today, we’re flipping the mic around—sharing the voices of our listeners who are taking what they’ve learned and putting it into action. These are not influencers, celebrities, or gurus. They’re people just like you—navigating challenges, building businesses, reclaiming their lives, and drawing inspiration from the journey we’re all on together. You’ll hear from Jessica in the Scottish Highlands who, after years of living by other people’s expectations, finally took the leap toward a more creative and fulfilling life. She’s enrolled in art therapy, preparing to take a sabbatical, and discovering what it means to live on her own terms. Her story is a testament to what happens when we stop asking for permission and start asking better questions. She wonders if David, too, had to strip everything back to discover his real path—and how he knew it was the right one. It's a reminder that growth often starts with surrender. From Seville, Carlos shares a quieter yet equally transformational shift. Once stuck in the hamster wheel of overwork, he’s now reclaimed his peace by simplifying life. Inspired by our message to “control what you can,” he’s walking to work, tuning into Join Up Dots, and discovering that success isn’t always loud—it’s often silent, deliberate, and deeply personal. We also hear from Mohan in Hyderabad, whose job loss became the spark for something far greater. While uncertainty and fear took centre stage at first, the show’s encouragement to reframe failure gave him courage. Now, he’s exploring copywriting and voiceover work—leaning into his storytelling skills and, for the first time in years, feeling a sense of purpose return. On the business front, three inspiring voices take us inside their online journeys. Natalie from Wellington finally broke free from her 9–5, building a content writing business she once thought was out of reach. After two years of listening on lunch breaks, she handed in her notice. It wasn’t an overnight success, but it was a deliberate one—powered by clarity, belief, and consistent action. Meanwhile, Emily in Vancouver celebrates her first digital sale after launching a template store for creatives. Her voice beams with pride as she shares how letting go of perfection and following the "just launch it" mentality gave her the breakthrough she’d been waiting for. What’s even more exciting is that she still walks the streets of Vancouver listening to the show, now as a business owner rather than just a dreamer. Then there's Jake from Lagos, still deep in the trenches of research but already making moves. His business idea—to connect local artisans with global customers—is in development, and he’s conducting user interviews to build something real. He writes with a mixture of nervousness and curiosity, asking David how to know when an idea is worth pushing or when it’s time to pivot. That question resonates with anyone who’s ever stood at the crossroads of action and doubt. Of course, no Join Up Dots episode would be complete without acknowledging the people who aren’t just taking the lessons—but who want to understand how David built the life they now admire. Benji in Bristol writes with admiration and a touch of obsession. He’s reverse-engineering the lifestyle David now enjoys: time freedom, creative passion, and a deep sense of alignment. But he’s also honest. How do you build a life like that without falling back into old patterns? What mindset shift has to happen first? From Cairo, Ahmed reflects on the challenge of having too many ideas and not enough certainty. He sees David’s focus and wants to understand how to develop that same trust in a single direction. It’s a question many face when starting something new—especially when every option feels both exciting and terrifying. And then there’s Sophie in Hamburg, who found connection not through polished stories of success, but in David’s admission of struggle. She references a moment in an early episode—David hiding in the bathroom during a corporate event—and says that’s when it clicked. The power of vulnerability, of honesty, and of admitting when things aren’t quite right yet. That’s what made her believe change was possible. 1 How To Sell Like A Master 53:11
How To Sell Like A Master Todays guest joining us on the show has over the past 19 years, he has helped 1000+ coaches, consultants, service providers, and entrepreneurs master the fundamentals of sales and close more High-Ticket sales over the phone. He is known as the “The One Call Closer,” and is one of the most recognized and in-demand sales trainers in the high-ticket space. The tactics and ideas that he uses in his One Call-Closer private training are techniques that took him 20 years to develop and that less than 1% of the population even know about. These techniques are also derived from him spending over 10,000 hours on sales and business trainings, courses, and seminars. Now that sounds amazing, and of course we all will be thinking that he was born with this talent. But in fact his journey to becoming a successful sales trainer didn’t happen overnight nor was it easy. He went through a lot to get to where he is today. He started his passion for selling at the young age of 13 where he got his first sales job as a junior sales assistant at the local furniture store. It was from that experience that he wanted to pursue a passion for selling and started this never-ending pursuit of sales improvement. Up until today, he’s read over 396 sales books and has spent over $128,563 on sales trainings and seminars. During his time at college, the Dean of Special Resources told him that he should drop out of school because of his diagnosed struggles with ADD/ADHD. It wasn’t the first time he was told to give up and quit and it will not be his last. However, that didn’t affect him and he wasn’t willing to give up. And that is always the key to success, persistence outworks talent, skills and anything else you think is holding you back from your future. So what is it about selling that lights him up inside, when most people struggle with this bigtime. And where do we go wrong, blinking at the pivotal moment of quoting our price, or something else? Well let's find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots with the one and only Mr Kayvon Kay Show Highlights During the show we discussed such weighty topics with Kayvon Kay such as: Kayvon share his belief that there is no single path to success, and everybody has to create the path that is right for them if it is truly going to succeed. Kayvon shares how so many people get confused with the systems against the strategies. Use the webinars, funnels, an email optins to create a deeper connection with your clients before you ever hope to sell. We discuss Kayvons childhood, and how his fathers advice could have held him back from the future that was waiting for him. Thank god he ignored him! and lastly…. We discuss how Kayvon spent $125,000 on self development and still failed - the reason was he hadn't proved himself to anyone, not least himself.…

INTERVIEW: A Man In The Search Of The Sweet Spot Todays guest is a man who likes nothing more than having a laugh in both his personal and business life. Throw into the mix his love of inspiring people, communicating at a high level, and leaving a lasting impression on everyone that he meets and you get the flavour of what he is all about. Starting his career in the form of corporate entertainment, he would wow the crowds across America and on the huge cruise ships, with humorous commentary and magic tricks. He knew that he could be funny and entertain, but could he combine the fun with the message? Could he strengthen his proposition by tackling the issues that business struggle with, all the time still keeping to his authentic self. Well he has done just that by starting "Laugh-O-Nomics"....yep that's a proper word, and now speaks on a range of subjects, but loves nothing more to discuss happiness at work. As he says "Happy people have, on average, 31% higher productivity; their sales are 37% higher; their creativity is three times higher.” and companies are missing a trick. They haven't quite grasped the fact that people having a good time, keeping moral at a high level, and working hard is the best thing that every company can have on their premises. The days of setting huge targets and cracking the whip to ensure that it all gets done should hopefully now be a thing of the past? So does he find that the hardest people to bring round to his hugely valuable message are the middle managers of the world? And when did he realise that all his talents had come together to take him into the motivational speaking world and flourish whilst he is there? INTERVIEW: Mark A Lack: A Man Who Is Outperforming His Own Identity Our guest today lives his life by two rules. And these are two rules that by and large most people will try to keep away from, and then they wonder why they haven’t got their dream life. He believes that You can’t be afraid to take a risk. You absolutely MUST have a plan. And then if you know anything about him, he adds to the mix a huge belief in himself, a flexing hustle muscle that he demonstrates everyday, and an easy going nature that helps him reach out to the movers and shakers across the globe. As a young man, he had a burning passion to become a professional paintballer, and upon getting his first gun from his parents set out to achieve his aim. And it seems that what he wants to do, he makes sure that he does its as within four years he had travelled the world shooting capsules of paint at people winning $300,000 dollars in the process. Even gaining the top prize of $160,000 in just one weekend. But at his core burned a question. A question that had occurred to him several years earlier, and had remain within him. Gnawing away. He asked himself “If people can come from nothing and create insane amounts of wealth in one lifetime, then shouldn’t someone like myself coming from a middle class family who has the support from their family and lives in “The Land of Opportunity” be able to easily do the same thing?” Wow, for a fourteen year old kid that shows awareness beyond his years. He realised at any early age that comfort creates mediocrity, and pain motives change. And now after investing over $500,000 of his own money on self development, and spending time with the likes of Bob Proctor, Jack Canfield and even Arnold Schwarzenegger he is taking those personal skills and sharing them with the world with his Peak Performance Club. But how does someone at the age of 14 start thinking in such an advanced way, especially when it appears he didn’t have anything to force him to think that way? And where does he find the greatest need within the people that he coaches and inspires across the world? Well lets find out as we bring onto the show to start joining up dots, with the one and only Mr Mark A Lack. Business Interview: Laura Roeder: Grabbing Success By Making Social Media Easy Today's guest joining us on the Join Up Dots podcast is a lady who boldly states. "If you are a small business owner who is feeling overwhelmed by ALL the different pieces of technology you need to run your small business, you are about to loooove me!" And certainly I have heard her name mentioned by many of the on-line luminaries of the world, who don't just loooooove her, but really like her too. She is the founder of LKR Social Media, where she used her expertise to help small businesses with social media and on-line marketing. She is also the founder of Edgar, which is is a tool that helps with social media scheduling and marketing automation. But more than that she is big on building a business that supports the lifestyle that she loves. She believes that social media is part of a new way of running a business – a business that is internet-driven (even if you don’t sell online), flexible, scalable, and provides you with a life, not a grind, which means that she can travel frequently and recently spent 3 weeks in India and 2 weeks in South Africa totally unplugged. But how is she doing this? Well she earned a degree in Advertising at The University of Texas, while teaching herself about web and online communications on the side. However when she graduated at age 20 she moved to Chicago to start her professional career, but unusually didn't then set into a decade of working her way up a ladder, just to find out that it was the wrong ladder. Instead with limited business knowledge she took the leap started her own company and the rest is history? So what made her different from so many people who wait with fear and apprehension till their mid forties before going for it? And does she look back at the hustles, and struggles with fondness, or a "Thank god I don't have to go through that again?" Well let's find out as we start joining up dots, with the one and only serial entrepreneur herself Laura Roeder.…
