How to link two independent clauses or sentences into a compound sentence using a comma and a coordinating conjunction (FANBOYS). From a semantic point of view, this would be the equivalent of having a marriage of two strong, independent people. Individually, they can survive, but together, they're stronger. Coupling sentences in this way —using a comma plus a fanboy— is the equivalent of getting to read their the wedding vows. This strategy is the same as making sure that we explicitly know the connection between them: reason, addition, contrast, surprising contrast, etc...
