In Dolen Perkin-Valez, Take My Hand...Forced Sterilization and pre-pubescent birth control were the reality through the 80s in this country and there were hundreds of thousands of black, brown, and indigenous women who underwent these procedures because they were deemed unfit to be mothers and then social programs were cut that would continue their poverty and allow them to starve once here. The Rolf sisters remind me of my grandmother, mother, aunt, cousins...shameful. The "Mississippi Appendectomy" go in for an appendectomy and also get a total hysterectomy...da-f***?!?!
