In today’s episode, I chat with retired LtCol Kathy Gallowitz, a self-described Navy ‘brat’, who after 30 years’ of dedicated service to her country, now champions on behalf of veterans.
Today, she coaches employers on the best strategies for hiring and retaining Veteran talent. A highly sought-after talent pool, less than 3% of Veterans are unemployed, while more than 30% are defined as underemployed. It’s an issue we discussed at length over an engaging half-hour discussion.
It’s a topic close to my heart - and whatever your thoughts on the legitimacy of combat arms, it’s (nearly) universally understood that the treatment of veterans represents a considerable opportunity in America. At a time when organizations are looking to close the talent gap, hiring veterans is one solution. Why then, are so many struggling to hire, train, and retain them? How can we bridge the gap?
I hope you enjoy our conversation, as much as I did recording it.
