Everyone wants stronger nails. In the last decade, a new trend has taken over the manicure game that promises longer-lasting polish and stronger nails. But do gel manicures deliver on that promise? I’ve covered nail polish on this show before, but we’re going to get a little more specific with this one. Living in California, I know how popular gel manicures have become. I may not fully understand the trend, but I definitely get the desire for stronger nails. But the truth is, if your nails are weak, it’s most likely from the lack of minerals and nutrients in your diet! As I was diving into the research into this one, I was shocked at the number of different toxins in gel polish! And I’m talking about chemicals linked to skin irritation, hormone imbalances and even cancer. And it’s not just the ingredients that worry me. All this processing, scraping and sitting under UV lights are weakening your nails. Sure, they feel tougher and stronger with the gel polish, but underneath it, your nails are suffering. Don’t worry, you don’t have to give up your manicures. I just want to open your eyes to the effects of these nail products so you can make better choices. There are safer alternatives out there, you just have to do a little research. So, by all means, get your nails done. Just opt for healthier alternatives.
