Kristin Hovious (she/her/hers) founded SEL Chicago to support adults in the important, hard work of creating mutually respectful environments for young people with intention. She is currently serving local school districts including Chicago Public Schools, Illinois State University's Chicago Teacher Education programs, and private and parochial schools in Chicagoland. Hovious led Chicago's Cortiva Institute as both Education Director (2007-2008) and Adjunct Faculty Member (2006-2017). Her love of anatomy and the science of human development led her to the work of Social Emotional Learning. Hovious continues to grow in her practice and is pursuing her Master's of Science in Psychology at Indiana Institute of Technology, and has recently authored Our Brain Book, a children’s rhyming book written to support adults and children in the skills of self-regulation.
