In today's episode, Tammy Banks, our Interim Consultant Director, talks to Marcella Leonard, of Leonard Consultancy, they discuss how practitioners and parents are coping during lockdown and the increased online/technology abuse against young people. Marcella shares a snippet into the issues she has been seeing in her consulting work since the beginning of lockdown.

Marcella Leonard qualified as a social worker in 1989 and since then has specialised in assessment and treatment in the fields of sexuality, sexual deviancy and sexual trauma with both victims and perpetrators.

As Director of Leonard Consultancy, Marcella works internationally as well as throughout the UK and Ireland in delivering specialist training, consultancy, and strategic and programme development. She also has co-authored risk assessment models that are being used in New Zealand, Norway, the UK and are being introduced to many more countries.

She continues to provide therapy for victims of childhood trauma and is a psychosexual therapist specialising in the enabling victims of sexual trauma to re-experience sexuality positively.

And in 2019 Marcella was awarded the NSPCC and the AoCPP’s Child Protection Trainer of the Year.

During COVID-19 Marcella is providing consultation for child protection professionals, developing online learning for social work students and newly qualified social workers and is working with several large organisations on their safeguarding policies and procedures, particularly on their identification and response to technology abuse.

Tammy Banks is Director of Taye training and Founder of the Training 4 Influence methodology. Alongside being AoCPP Interim Director she also leads Taye training and sits on the Parliamentary Committee for Standards.
