31: Science and Spirituality: Acceptance, Integration, and Wholeness - Devin Rappleye
Manage episode 433808889 series 3549746
Dr. Rappleye conducted and developed pyrochemical operations at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) for four years prior to joining BYU. His doctorate and post-doctoral work before coming to LLNL was devoted to creating electroanalytical methods and analyses for complicated molten salt combinations with several analyses.
In this episode of the Gratitude Podcast, Devin shares the intricate relationship between faith, doubt, and the evolving models we create of ourselves, others, and our understanding of God. How doubt is not the opposite of faith, but rather its predecessor—a necessary step toward growth and learning. He discusses the stages of faith development, the role of gratitude in achieving wholeness, and the importance of embracing all aspects of our lived experience. Through this lens, we examine how the acceptance of our imperfections and the challenges we face—whether through addiction, loss, or internal struggle—can lead to a deeper understanding of our values and ultimately, a more profound connection with ourselves and the divine.
