This week, I met visual artist Howard Gross.
Throughout his career which started in Chicago in the 70s, Howard was very keen on experimenting with different techniques and mediums. At first, after graduating from Art Institute of Chicago, his choice was oil on canvas.
Then, he turned to box sculptures, from which he proceeded to relief sculptures, but he didn’t stop there.
When he moved to New York, he started to photograph cracks in the city.
Later on, he started to photograph people in the art world with their eyes closed: Leo Castelli, Betty Parsons, Louise Bourgeois, Agnes Gund among many others, accepted to be photographed without posing in front of him.
How does he condition himself to look at the world as an adventure?
That’s the question of the week.
