GBH News Center For Investigative Reporting launched a report about boy victims of the Sex Trade industry. Many activists who are tackling the abuse of the sex trade industries often ignore the boy victims, and they are often under reported. It is estimated that boys make up at least 30% of the victims, and many of them are boys of color and LGBT. The Boston public media outlet GBH News did their report in two insallments and today we have one of the investigative reporters as our guest. Jenifer B. McKim is a senior investigative reporter at GBH News.. She focuses on social justice issues, including criminal justice, child welfare, sex trafficking and personal debt for print, digital and broadcast. McKim’s investigations have earned numerous awards, including the national Edward R. Murrow Award, a Casey Medal for Meritorious Journalism and the Freedom of Information Award from the New England First Amendment Coalition. She was a finalist for the 2005 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service. In the first installment of the series, McKim and fellow reporter, Phillip Martin bring us the perspective of two New England men who survived commercial sexual exploitation as children and are now taking the rare step of speaking out. The second installment dives more into the relationship between sex trafficking and race and centers around Jose Alfaro. As a homeless gay teen, Alfaro was offered a place to stay by a much older man. It seemed like an answer to his prayers, until this man, Jason Gandy, turned out to be a sex trafficker. With co-host Brody Levesque
